  • WHAT'S HAPPENED THIS LAST WEEK WITH OUR BABY

During the next few days, our baby's heart will start early contractions, which later become distinct beats. By the end of the third week of gestation (five weeks in menstrual age) the length of the embryo was about 1.5 to 2.0 mm long. All of our baby's major organs are under development, and facial features, such as ears and eyes, began to form. The neural tube, which will later be referred to as the spinal cord, have began to fuse. And buds appeared that will soon be the arms and legs.

No wonder I am so tired!  That is what all happened in our fifth week of pregnancy.  As of yesterday we have begun our 6th week.   According to the pregnancy calendar the length of our embryo measures 4mm.   Moving....right along!

  • OFFICIAL DUE DATE
I forgot to mention that Dr. Kopher gave me an official due date of October 29th. Justcinful - we will be having babies on adjacent days...LOL!! As if babies really come on their due dates. I was two weeks overdue with my son.

  • TWINS???....

I must say many people think having twins would be brave on our part.  We are REALLY praying for twins.   It would truly be a blessing to us.  It is funny because when my hubby talks he always says when the babies are born.......I pointed that out to him that he always says that.   He said, well I really like the idea of having twins!    My father in law is a twin.

  • IDEAS NEEDED......

I need to think of a creative way to tell our sons that we are having another baby.   Any ideas???   What do you think????  Something I could wrap as a gift, etc....hmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • First Dr's Appointment.....

Today was our official first appointment with the Dr to confirm our pregnancy.    I weighed in at 128.  Ok, not much weight gain if any.  (still weigh 125 on home scale so no change),  Why is it you *always weigh more at the Dr's!

He said everything looked fine, we have a 1 in 20 chance of having twins, since we had two eggs.  The best part is, he said that since I am now 6 weeks pregnant that after this week any morning sickness will begin to get better from here on out.  I hope that is true as I was still waiting for the worse to come.  So this isn't nearly as bad as it was with my son.

Let's see...what else did he say.  Due to my age (only 30) I had an increase risk of Down's syndrome and some skull and spine deformities.  The talked about an ammio and we discussed it and we do not want any testing done as it would not change anything for us and would only be a increase risk to our baby.   We would not ever elect to abort.   Easy enough....

I see the Dr in 4 1/2 weeks and he will do an exam at that time and see the size of my uterus.   If it seems large I will have an ultrasound done to see if there are twins.

We have not yet told our other two children and will tell them after our appointment in 4 1/2 weeks.

  • Welcome to my new subscriber, who of course subscribed annoymously, LOL!!!   Yeah...that does make me wonder!! Who is it?????   Hmmmmmm

Justcinful -  Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!!   That is very cool.   Last time I had a baby, my best friend was pregnant at the same time with me, but that was 13 years ago.   I am happy to know someone else who is due around the same time!!!

All is well with me, no more feeling ill in the morning after  I said forget the toothpaste.

We did tell my mom we are expecting.  I think she was pretty happy.   Paul wanted to send her a surprise so he sent her via email the picture of me holding up my positive prego test at 4:00am....oh do I look lovely.   LOL!!   Gee thanks, hon!   She figured it out from the picture and everything....wasn't sure she would.

  • Loopdeloup - To answer your question, yes, in the US we use a 40 weeks as well.   I am actually according to the Dr. 5 weeks along.  I will be 6 weeks on Tuesday, March 6th.

This whole week thing confuses me, I mean I know exactly what day I conceived and to say I am 5 weeks means counting the first two weeks of my cycle when I know I wasn't pregnant.  But I guess that is how they do it.  So I am 5 weeks pregnant and my fetus is at 3 weeks gestation.

    What ever.....LOL!!!!
