  • MISSION IMPOSSIBLE..................

Well our nightly dance has begun.  Tommy had his bath, and drank about 3 ounces of formula.    He fell asleep and I put him down in his crib, three minutes later he is crying and awake.   I let him cry for a bit and try to comfort him while he is in the crib.   No luck...............

He is now sitting with Daddy watching TV.   I will let you know if he sleeps in his crib tonight, but I wouldn't hold your breath.  He really didn't nap much today at all.  He usually takes at least one long nap and I am able to get laundry and stuff done.   But not today.  So I am going to blog a bit and then fold laundry and do my dishes.

Yes, my sink will be shiny before bed and bottles washed :)

More later on our little night owl!!   He is lucky he is so darn cute...............:)

  • TOMMY'S  3 Weeks Old Today...........

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy.......will you ever sleep anywhere but in my arms at night.    Ok, I have tried everything and I can't figure this out.   Tommy will take all nice naps during the day in his crib.  He will sleep for 4 hours in ther no problem.  But come night time I can't get to sleep in his crib so more than 30 minutes then he is up and screaming.   I have tried having him sleep in our bedroom in his bassinet, but he screams in there within 5 minutes.  Where does Tommy want to sleep at night???   In our bed, right between Mommy and Daddy.   Mostly curled up next to Mommy.    He loves to touch my face while I sleep.   Cute for the first few times............

My good friend Jenifer came over yesterday and she suggested puttin a t-shirt of mine in his crib so he could smell me, didn't seem to make a difference.  She also suggested a ticking clock to sound like my heart beat.  I have a heartbeat tape which I played for him.   He stayed in his crib for about 30 minutes sound asleep and then screamed.   He came into our bed and laid down beside me and went right to sleep.

I only have 3 weeks left of maternity leave, then back to work.  I would like him to be sleeping in his crib by then so I can get better rest.  I am always afraid either I or my hubby will roll on him, etc.  Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.   I have terribly mixed feelings about returning to work.  Don't get me wrong I LOVE my job, but I sure love being a stay at home mom.   I don't want to leave my baby.

Tommy will be staying at home with my hubby while I am at work, but I still wish he was staying with me.  He is so much fun.   Well Tommy is napping so I will quickly jump into the shower.   My hubby was great last night and he got up with the baby all night.  :)    I got a very good nights sleep for the most part.

It is a beautiful Friday here, so I best get out and enjoy it as it will be short lived.   I discovered so great new blogs, so I will have to do some visiting this evening............................:)

  • TOMMY'S FIRST BATH............................

Finally we are able to give Tommy a tub bath.  YEAH!!!   We are sick of sponge baths.   We had to wait until the plastibell was off to give him a bath.  Since the Dr removed it this morning we had a bath that evening.

Tommy was very good about the bath.  He had been very cranky all night and of course I couldn't get a burp out of him.  He is a very hard child to burp.  So we decided to try a bath.  I got him undressed and into his infant tub.  He was fine with it and didn't even cry, but of course he puked.  I knew he had a air bubble.  DADDY, come help us!!  So Daddy changed the water in the tub as it was gross.  Mommy layed Tommy on the counter and of course Tommy peed on her.   Doesn't he always!  He has such timing.

Then we were back into the tub.   Tommy stayed in the tub for about 5 minutes or so.   He was very content and seemed to enjoy the tub bath.  This is much better than the sponge baths which he screamed through.   Daddy took pictures of his first bath, which I will post when we have this roll of film used up

  • Tommy's Doctor Appointments......

Tommy has been to the Dr twice since leaving the hospital.   He left the hospital weighing 7# 5 ounces, down from his birth weight of 7# 10oz.

Tommy was first seen by the Dr on Tuesday, October 6th.  He was scheduled to go in on Thursday, but we ended up taking him in early due to concerns with his circumcision.  When he was circumcised in the hospital they put on a plastic protectant ring called a plastibell that was to fall off between 3 to 8 days.   It hadn't fallen off and looked swollen so we took him in.   He also had his 2 week check up at that time.

On October 6th, he weighed in at 8# 4 ounces.   He has met all his mielstones to date.  He is able to lift his head, he will focus on your face with his eyes.  The plastibell was not coming off yet, but the Dr was not concerned he said to bring him back in a week if it hadn't fallen off.

On October 13th, back to the Dr as the plastibell had not fallen off yet.  The Dr ended up removing it.  It was attached still in a small area, which of course bled and was very difficult for me to watch.  But Daddy was with us and he comforted Tommy.   Tommy weighed in at 9 pounds.  My is our boy growing.  He has been eating a ton lately.  The Dr said everything looks fine and will see Tommy when he is 2 months old next to begin his vaccinations.
