Month: June 2002

  • Hello..........

My long weekend is over.  I do feel sort of rested, but once back at work the feeling of overwhelm returns.   Working as a public servant for the government is interesting to say the least.  We are in the process of being moved to a new building that is being built in West St Paul.   Some people went on tours and our floor which has around 100 people on it, only has two stalls for the bathroom.   We have more than that in the building we are in now, and there are less of us.   It should be interesting.  Also they only have one break room for all 800 of us, and it is the size of the one in our current building.  Terrible planning to say the least!  The administrator's comment was they will be putting picnic tables outside.  Hello....we live in Minnesota, it is only warm enough to eat outside like 4 months of the year.  Should be an interesting process that is for sure.  We are moving into the new building next month and will need to start packing in a few weeks.  What fun, not like I don't have a million other pressing work related items to do.

Ok....weekend was nice, but hot!  We went over to the neighbors for Noah's 3rd B-day party.  It was very hot outside, so I couldn't stay too long with Tommy, he was very uncomfortable.  The rest of the afternoon we spent getting Josh packed for camp.  He was getting a bit nervous about going.  In the evening we watched the movie "I am Sam" and called it a night.

Sunday morning I woke feeling terrible, so it was a good day to stay in bed in read my book.  I am actually almost done reading the June book for my book group.  WOW....I might even get to join in on the discussion!   I should be able to finish the book tonight before bed, since Tommy has been sleeping in his bed again.

Erik had a terrible time getting to sleep last night since he was scared since Josh wasn't with him.  He slept upstairs on the couch instead.  I bet that will be an all week occurrence.

This morning I mailed off my three E-bay auctions I sold.  Just some maternity dresses.  I hope to get some more pictures taken and auctions started next weekend.  Well time to get some more work done.  Later!

Hope all of your had a wonderful weekend!

  • A couple of recipes I made over the weekend I wanted to share.  I have been making some cold salads on the weekend so I know there is something to go with the boys sandwiches during the week.  I also try to cut up either cukes, melon or something.

    BLT Macaroni Salad

    2- cups uncooked elbow macaroni

    5 green onions, finely chopped

    1 large tomato, diced

    1-1/4 cups diced celery

    1-1/4 cups mayonnaise

    5 teaspoons white vinegar

    ¼ teaspoon salt

    1/8 to ¼ teaspoons pepper

1 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled

Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain and rinse in cold water.  In a large bowl, combine the macaroni, green onions, tomato and celery.  In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, vinegar, salt and pepper. Pour over macaroni mixture and toss to coat.  Cover and chill for at least 2 hours.  Just before serving, add bacon.  Yield: 12 servings.

     Taste Of Home: June/July 2002

The second recipe I tried was from the Zanga Cookbook.  It is a Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad.

  • hello......this has been a very good and very needed day off!  It was a nice day, even though it rained all day.   I had woke up at 4am and read for a bit and fell back to sleep.

In the morning we got up and got things ready to go to ShoreView Community Center.   I threw a roast in the crock pot and made the BLT Macaroni salad and threw that in the fridge.  After some quick sandwiches we head to Shoreview Community Center.  Both Erik and Josh each brought a friend along as well.  So Paul, 5 boys and I headed out for an adventure.

Tommy played in this area the whole time.  We sat on the bottom and he jumped, jumped and jumped!  He really enjoyed himself.  We got there at about 12:30 and Tommy stayed in the water very content until about 2:30.   Then he got a bit crabby and we got out and warmed him up and had a bottle and he fell asleep.

The big boys stayed over in this area for the most part.  They would come visit Tommy a bit, but they likes the water slide, etc.  This place really wasn't a bad deal for only 20.00 a family to get in.  We had a great time!

Afterwards we headed home and had supper.  Paul took the boys to the Manitou Days parade after supper.  I stayed home with Tommy since he was asleep.  I figured I could read my book.  HA!!  10 minutes after everyone leaves crank is awake.   ARGH!!   So I held him and held him..............

I ended up giving Tommy some Motrin and put some numb stuff on his gums.   He is actually asleep right now....IN HIS BED!!  Well with that said, I must run to my bed and try to get a page read before he is screaming and in bed with me.

Tomorrow I have to run to Toys R Us and get a present for our neighbor Noah's birthday party.  He will be three and is having a beach party tomorrow in his yard.  He was very excited to bring us his invitation over.  I also have to get Josh packed tomorrow since he is leaving for camp on Sunday for one week.

    LATER!!!

  • I am bumming....for the first time ever, I ordered a book from Half.com and I never received it.  So I had to file a complaint.  ARGH!!  That really is unfortunate I have never had any trouble on either E-bay or Half.com.  I wanted to read the book already!!!!!  ARGH!  I have a couple of auctions going on E-bay and I have bids on two items already.....I like getting rid of stuff from my house and earning a bit of extra cash to go buy more junk...LOL!!!

What else is new...work is really stressful.  Going through a thing there were I need a bullet proof outfit already.  Verbal bullets of course.  I am not very good at that, I take it personally and get stressed.  But it is all part of being a public servant.   Being a librarian looks better and better sometimes.  LOL!!!   I took today off, just didn't want to deal with stuff.

Of course it is rainy very hard this morning and I don't think there will be Mommy's club since we were going to the beach.  I could quick pick up the living room up and have everyone over here, but I don't really feel like it.  Today we need to go to Toys R Us and get a gift for our three year old neighbors party tomorrow.  We also are planning on going to the Shoreview community Center to swim indoors today.

Last night I actually got more than one page read of my book for my BOOKMOMS group.   Of course I hada little goof in bed with me trying to grab the pages.   Tommy has been terrible about sleeping in his own bed lately,  He screams and screams and I am not big on letting him cry it out.   Drives my hubby nuts.....but I can't stand it.  If he needs and wants me I want to be there for my baby, he is only 8 months old.

Well I am off to pick up a bit and get ready for my day.........TTYL!

  • Argh.........I just lost my blog.....I will have to rewrite it tonight I have to get to work.  Later...........GRRRRRRRRRR...I hate when that happens.

  • Morning...........I am still struggling to wake up.  ARGH....sometimes it is so hard.  I didn't accomplish much on my list last night.  I only completed getting groceries.  ARGH>.....I still have weekly cleaning and laundry to work on tonight.  That will be hard to do since Hubby is at school tonight and Tommy screams if I leave the room he is in.  So I will have to drag him along to clean, which really doesn't work well at all.  That stinker.

Tommy didn't want to go to bed last night so he ended up sleeping in bed with us.  Paul took him back to his crib in the middle of the night.  I slept through it all.  It really is easier for me sometimes to if put him in bed with me.

Well I better get off to work.   I have a day full of meetings today, and one meeting that isn't going to be much fun at all.  just!  Sometimes is this job even worth it???  Life would be ideal if I could have a nice cushy part-time job and stay home with my babies.   But that isn't going to happen.

Friday we want to take the kids to Shoreview Community Center to the indoor water park, so I have to get all my hours done by Thursday.  So I will be working some late nights and probably bringing work home.   Saturday is my little neighbors 3rd B-day.  He is having a beach party with his little pool his grandparents bought for him.   Tommy will like that....

  • Good Morning...........

Well it is Monday and I need to rush off to work here in a few secs, but thought I would drop in and say hello!  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  OUr Sunday was pretty relaxing as was our whole weekend.

We went to the Children's Museum with Tommy.  He enjoyed the baby room, the rest was fun to look at and he could do a few things here and there.  But it was free so who cares!

After the museum we drove to arby's and grabbed some sandwiches for supper.  5 for 5.99 ya know!

My evening consisted of laundry, making my menu and shopping list for the grocery store tonight.  I actually posted my menu on the site now, you will find it on the custome module thing.   As you can see we don't eat too fancy around here, but I have three kids and got to make things they will eat.

    TONIGHT NEED TO DO:

    Buy Groceries
    Weekly Cleaning Chores
    Laundry

  • Morning.......

YAWN...I am just waking up here in Minnesota, the house is quiet as hubby is outside and the children are all sleeping.  I think I will quickly do the dishes and then get ready for church.   Hopefully Tommy will sleep 1/2 hour more so I can do those things.

It has been a nice relaxing weekend.  I took it east since I could feel I was getting to burnout.   Last night we watch a few movies on hubby's new DVD player.  We watch Kate and Leopold, which I liked.  Also we watched the Mothman Prophecies, also good.  Josh and Paul watch Pink Floyd the Wall, which I played with the baby and napped through.

Other than that I fed Tommy and gave him a bath, that pretty much was my evening.  I also got a few auctions going on Ebay again, I need to gets omen more done today as well.  Not too exciting, which is nice sometimes.

After church today we are going to the MN Children's Museum.  I hope Tommy enjoys that.    I think Josh will even go this us.

    Have a great Father's Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • back from our afternoon adventures.    We went to the baby park, my SIL had told us about.  Not much to it, but has a large open area so will be good to play baseball with the older boys.   We stopped by the lake and let Tommy stand in it with his water shoes on.  He enjoyed that.  He would stomp his feet to make a splash and kick the sand.

We also stopped at the park and swang for a bit and even went on the slide a bit.  Tommy likes to be outside.

Now i have to pick up the living room a bit and do the dishes.  We are going to watch a DVD with hubby after that.  Hubby got a DVD player for Father's Day that also plays MP3's.  So he is very excited.

Well more later!  I am sure.................

  • Hello...

It is one o'clock on a Saturday and I have accomplished a number of things.   I took Josh to cash some checks at the bank and then we went to the mall and he bought his new glasses.  He is 165.00 less rich...................LOL!!   But hopefully a lesson may be learned.

Weird how that works....if it impacts Josh he will learn from it, if not you can lecture and talk till your blue in the face.  Doesn't really matter.   We just got his final report card for the year and it is the worst grades ever he has gotten.  So I am not allowing to stay at Grandma's and Grandpas for two weeks this summer.  We are going to viist them as a family so it is not like he won't have time with them.   Of course my mother disagrees, what to do................I believe I am right...

Well I am off to pick up some book from the library and then check out a baby park in N. St Paul.  Later!
