Month: July 2002

  • Argh……..I lost my last post, so this is the abridge version.  I am TIRED!

Office:  Everything is getting put away and organized.  Still can’t find items outside of my cube I need.  Forms, etc.  But clerical is working on unpacking that stuff as well.   I have not seen any mice.   It is freezing in the building!!!  But it is a very nice building.    My area is unpacked and Flylady would be pleased I have found a place for everything and decluttered and took care of hotspots as I can.   Some people I swear just moved their piles from the other building to the new one.

    TOMMY’S Dr Appointment

    Height:  29”

    Weight:  21# 13 oz.

    Head Cir: 18”

He did well at the appointment.  He is meeting all his developmental milestones, which we are pleased about.  He is pulling up to the coffee table and couch.  He will try to walk between the two of them, but it is more like he dives from one to the other and often falls.

Dr talked about switching to whole milk, but we are going to wait until he is 12 months.   Dr. wants him eating three meals a day instead of two and snack.   Paul never feeds the baby food for lunch only bottle.  I feed him breakfast and supper before and after work.  That won’t be an issue once he is in daycare.  Dr said don’t worry about Tommy not crawling, he is going to be a walker.  Tommy had a little rash which I thought was a diaper rash, but Dr said it was a little bit of a yeast infection so we are treating that.   Constipation still a problem.  Dr said MORE juice.  I don’t give him juice regularly.

Tommy did ok for his pneumococcal vaccine.  He settled down pretty fast after wards.  Then we had to have his blood draw to have his iron level checked.  That was an experience; I would think they would come up with a better way to get a baby’s blood.   They pricked Tommy’s finger and they squeezed his finger to get the blood out, drop by drop to fill the vial.  ARGH!!  He didn’t like that and it was hard to hold him still as it took a while.

Well that is it for now.  I have to get up early to get Tommy ready to go to Bonnie’s in the morning.  Paul has a project to work on at school.

BTW – I finished listening to the book “Good In Bed” for my book group.  I really enjoyed it!   A good read.   I always want a bit more for the endings……..but I hate books to end that I am enjoying anyways.

  • First day at the new office..............not too bad.  I have a lot more desk surface in my new cube.   I got all my files unpacked and even filed a few piles of resources I had.  I even decluttered a bit more.  I think  I will need to have a regular time that I declutter areas of my desk.   I just get so much mail each day, if I don't keep up with it, I have a huge pile.

I stopped at Pier One after work and bought a wicker organizer thing for my desk.  I love pier one!  It wasn't really like what i was looking for, but it is growing on me.   I need to pick up some kind of artifical flower/plant.   otherwise my cube is getting pretty homey.

We got a memo about the mice in the building.  The exterminator has laid some traps, etc.   I hope I don't see a mouse.   The workmen are still working on our floor and only 1/2 of the cubes are up.   So it is certainly a bustle of activity.

I need to scoot and shower.  Tommy has a Dr appointment his morning.  His 9 months appointment.  He only had to get one shot.  WOO HOO!!  I will let you know how he did later.

  • Off to work to the new building...............wish me luck!  Later!

  • Busy day.........we went to my company picnic at Como Park.   It was so hot!!  I believe the temps were in the 90's.  The baby was so red faced and crying.   We didn't stay too long, we rode the carausel and looked at a few animals.  We stopped at the DQ o nthe way home.  At the picnic they had a drawing for door prizes, and I won a box of golf balls.  I don't golf so I gave them to my neighbor Jerry.

We had a huge rain storm here.   the street out front our house flooded up to the boy's hips.   Right out front our house wasn't so deep, but a bit further down a neighbor was giving the kids canoe rides on the street.  ROFL!!  We took Tommy out to walk in the street.  He loved it....he cried everytime I cried to get him out.   I held his hands and he walked inthe water for about an hour.   We were both soaking wet, and took hot showers when we came it.  But it was a lot of fun, great memories for sure.

Though the boys love when it rains and the street floods, it sort of makes ya mad.  We jsut had our street redone about 4 years ago, and they swore it wouldn't flood anymore.  I am still paying on my portion of the road construction and our street still floods in some places it is waist deep.   The water now is almost gone, but the boys all hada great time!

Well I am heading to bed early tonight.  I have a headache for being in the heat so much today.  I go to work tomorrow at our new building.   I will spending the day finding my way around and unpacking.  My neighbor across the street worked on the building.  His company did the fire and water system I guess.  Well I will let ya know how the move went tomorrow....hmmmm...will I have a working phone or computer???   Will I have all my files in my cubicle when I get there????   Should be intersting.  The information technology people were suppose to be there all weekend getting stuff set up and working for us, hope it is!!!

Now I even had to remember to wear my ID badge, my previous building we didn't really wear those......etc....was very layed back, I hope it stays that way in the new building but I have my doubts.

  • YEAH.........my dear sweet neighbor just came over to see if Erik could stay over night.  He is taking his four sons and three of their friends to Old Country Buffet, Bowling and sleeping over.   WOW!!...Brave man.  His wife is gone on girls weekend with her friends.

So my hubby went off to rent a movie, since we don't get movies especially R rated if the boys are around.  But looks like tonight is a quiet night with jsut Tommy and us.  And we let Tommy watch R rated...LOL!!!   He is oblivious to the TV for the most part.  Unless of course you put in Baby Mozart.

  • Erik is back from vacation.   Life sure changes around here when he returns.   I find myself unable to divide my time that much, he requires so much supervision.  Luckily we aren't starting back up with tutoring until Monday, so I have a few days to get stuff ready.

Tonight I am making chicken salad pitas for supper.  Today we went and got groceries.  Hubby wanted to go with, but that always adds about 30 dollars on to my bill.  But I still made it out for under 100.00, that should last us until next month.

Believe it or not I actually completed my menus for the next few weeks.  I have to have them done before I get groceries.  I have enough food in my freezer to last for a month at least.  We are trying to get it all eaten so I can defrost the freezer.  A lot of ice has formed since the freezer got left open a couple of times.  ARGH!!  Some of Tommy's food cubes are now a huge cube blob.  ARGH!!   OH Well...............

Speaking of baby food, I ahve to make rotabaga today.  I have no idea how to do that, I will have to dig out my Super Baby Food Book.  Tonight I gave Tommy canned peas and carrots and he liked them.  I can't get him to eat the pureed peas I made, but he likes the canned ones whole.  What do I care as long as he is eating a veggie.

Well I suppose I should do a bit of laundry and stuff.  Tomorrow is company picnic at the Como Zoo.  After working there for 5 years I am actually going for the first time.  Should be nice...........I hope.  We will have all three boys with us.

  • I am a geek.......I just got my new calendar in the mail.  I am so happy!   LOL!!  I bought one last year and it is actually the only calendar that has enough room for me to write enough info.

yes, it is the calendar from the flylady site.........but I like it.....I told you I was a geek!  LOL!!

Well I guess I should be heading to bed, hubby is sitting on the front porch with the neighborhood men having beers.  One of my neighbor's wife is gone for the week, so all the men are together..lOL!!   They are too funny!

Paul Let Erik have all these friends over to watch a movie, so I think  he will need to deal with that.  I am going to bed!  Tommy is sleeping well.....so so should I.

  • I finally took my car in to be looked at today.  I knew a few of my belts were very worn, so I had those changed.  The heat sheild was lose and rattling too.  I again had them look into the issue of my car always over heating when I put the AC on.   Well this time they actually found the cause, The head gasket is leaking exhaust into the cooling system.  The head gasket will need to be replaced to stop this.  Well that is not in our budget right now.  ARGH....a new head gasket is over 1,000.00.  Gee, I don't think the car is even worth that anymore.   I am going to hold off on the head gasket for a while and keep my fingers crossed.

I plan on buying a new vehicle next year sometime, hopefully before summer.   I can't decide on the type of vehicle I want yet.  I have been using a cool site to look at what various dealers have available and prices.  I am leaning towards a Toyota, but we will see.  I will also get my current car fixed next year, if it makes it that long.  It will be a vehicle for Joshua to drive.

What an odd place in my life, one child learning to walk and one learning to drive.   LOL!!!

  • Hubby is home from school and tending to baby, so I thought I would log on and say good night!  Hey...msCaffeineaddict......how about the Monday, I think it was, Flylady mission.  I just tonight got rid of a ton of old jewelry.  SO 80's all dangley and big!!  Why was I keeping these, did i think they would be back in style???  I would ever wear them???   My jewelry box only hold two necklaces now...LOL!!..and only a handful of earings.   I have a pair of diamond earing my hubby got me and they are the only pair I wear.   I can't believe I ever wore that stuff, let alone paid money for it.    I threw them in the trash.....I know I did more than a 27 fling........but it has to go!

Still a lot of stuff to do in my room, but an improvement.  Sometimes you just got to laugh and the junk we keep............ARGH!

  • ARGH....I have these little bugs in my house.  ARGH!!  I hate living with a swamp in our backyard, we constantly have bugs.  We always have to bug bomb once a year.  I was really hoping to avoid that this year since the baby and all.   I found a bug in Tommy's snack toast hte other day so now I am bagging everything up I can find that I think these little bugs might like.  We also have earwigs (pincher bugs) in the basement.  ARGH!!   Now to fingure out where we can go while we bug bomb????????  hmmmmmmmmmm.....maybe I can do it when we leave for vacation??  The neighbors could pick up the bombs and put our cats back in the house.......that might be an idea.  We will see!!!!!!!!!  Or we could do it on a big day of errands.????  I think it take like 3 hours.......hmmmmmmmmmm....
