Month: January 2003

  • Life is good.....it is FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!   I am so ready for a day off of work.   I was planning on getting home early yesterday, but I didn't leave the office until 7:00.   So I have extra hours worked so I could get off early today.  I hope!!!  Or maybe I will just take off Monday we will see.  I have to look at my schedule.   Being off Monday sounds nicer since, no one would be around and I could have some alone time!!  Much needed!!

Yesterday at work, Gov Pawlenty came to our building to give a press conference.   I went down and listened to him for a few minutes.  I wasn't so excited about his tone really.  He was talking about welfare reform, etc.  The state wants to get a waiver for the feds that would allow the state to ensure that people only would buy healthy food with food stamps.   They would not allow any purchase of junk food, chips, pop, etc.   I wasn't that impressed with that.   I didn't care for the tone of tax payer pay for those peoples food, therefore we can say what they can buy.  I don't think it is any of govs. business.    It will be interesting to see what the official definition of "junk food" is.  Our Gov and the commissioner of Human Services are so young and trim.   They must be eating *Healthy!   *smirk The rest of what the Gov had to say wasn't so bad, expected really about getting people to work faster, etc.   I just didn't like the tone he was setting.

Today I will just try and do some things from yesterday's list as I went to bed last night after I bathed Tommy and got him to bed!

I haven't had time to read much lately.  I simply fall asleep too quickly.  I have of course been listening to my books on tape on the drive to and from work.  What a blessing that is!!  I am listening to the second book in the Big Stone Gap Series, Cherry Holler.  I can't remember who recommended these books to me,  but I really enjoy the characters.  It is like riding home with friends!!  I look forward to going to work to finish up the last tape!  I will have to go to the library tomorrow to get a new one to listen to!   Have I ever mentioned I *LOVE my library!!

  • Morning.......I think I am finally back into our regular routine again.  It is weird how one little day of the flu can throw you off so much.  I worked a full day yesterday.  I had an IEP meeting in another town, but when I drove all the way there they had cancelled it and forgot to call me.  ARGH!!  I did run a couple of errands while I was there.  The town has a brand new Walmart that is huge!!  So all my errands are done except for I need to get a mop refill at K-mart.  They seem to be the only place that carries my refill I need.  I will most likely get a few groceries tonight too!

Church was fine last night.  We had a substitute parent educator and we made Valentine's by stamping.  It was fun.  Paul made one of the Valentines for the kids.  One Dad who comes to the class alone, made the nicest Valentines....LOL!!  He was so cute about it!    I also decided to join a new committee at church called "new Moms Committee".   We will be doing things to support mom's during pregnancy, clip coupons, send cards, etc.  After the birth we will put a sign in the yard announcing the birth, might provide some frozen meals, etc.  I think it will be fun!   The time commitment was only a meeting a month, so that is easy enough.

Well time for me to get ready for work.  I quick To DO List...and off I go!!!

  • Argh...Stomach flu has hit our house.  I am suppose to go to a mandatory training today and have a late homevisit.  I think I will have to cancel the home visit and we will see about the training.   I need to try to go, but I feel just terrible.  I did nothing but lay around last night and went to bed early after my nap.

Tommy has his 15 month Dr appointment this morning, so I am going to take him to that and see how I feel.   I hate missing things I need to be at.  ARGH!!!  I am having a bit of toast for breakfast so hopefully that will clam my stomach.

I have a few things left from my list, but they will have to wait for another day when I am feeling better.  Josh wasn't feeling very well when he got up either, I am sure he will be calling for me to pick him up from school today.

I best get going so I can get Tommy to his 8:30 appointment.  Who in there right mind makes an appointment so early!!!

  • ROFL....well in addition to discovering the toilet and how to open it.  Tommy has discovered the laundry shute!  I went down to sort laundry and I found a lot of surprise with my laundry.  ARGH!!  A few books,  a few crackers, a few toys....OH MY!

Time for me to go get my little man up for the day.  I was able to do the garbage, sweep and mop the floors and fold a load of laundry before he was ready to get up.  That is pretty good for me!

Have a great Monday!  ANy ideas for supper yet???  hmmmmmm....

  • My Daycare Provider called this morning at 8:00am and she has the flu.  So today will be a forced day off for me.  That is probably a good thing.  I do have a meeting at 1:00 that my hubby will come home so I can get to.  Otherwise it will just be Tommy and I at home.  I love the idea of that.  I need it!

I am going to try to quick do my weekly cleaning this morning, after my shower and before Tommy gets up.  They we will just play the rest of the morning.  Tommy has discovered his new favorite thing to do.  I think he is opening the bathroom door, as I was sure I closed.  Everything I go in to use the restroom, I find a surprise in the toilet.  Yesterday it was a soggy board book.   He loves the toilet and the plunger...LOL!!  ARGH!!  I hope this stage ends soon!

I am off to get my day started!  Have a great Monday!

  • Hello - Well the weekend is coming to an end.  They never are long enough.  I really need to find some time to visit you all and comment.  I will as soon as I am not working so many hours.

Today we didn't do to much.  Went to church, after church I did a few of my items on my list while Tommy napped.  He took a very short nap today, so he is in bed for the night already.

My SIL and family came over to bring my B-day present and stayed for supper.  Also my nephew, Nick wanted his haircut, so we took care of that as well.  I had tried to trim Tommy's hair last night when he was taking a bath, that was a battle.  ARGH!!!  I am leaving his long curls in the back for now, too hard to cut his hair.

While I was making supper for both our families tonight, Chelsea my niece came and said she didn't feel well.  A few minutes later she puked all over the bathroom.  ARGH!!!  Then while we were cleaning that up the younger niece, Kristen, decided to open her sippy cup and spill it all over the floor in the living room.  LOL!!   Never dull moment.  Tommy was very content all night.  He loves to follow and bug his cousin, Kristen.

Everyone has headed home now and Law and Order is a re-run so I am going to take a nice long bath and read for a bit.  Then I need to fold my last load of laundry and wash dishes.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

  • Morning..........Boy have I woken up achy today.  My back is very sore.  I did get a birthday card from my chiropractor to have a free adjustment, so I think I will be going to see him tomorrow.  So I think I will try real hard to get home from work early tomorrow.   LOL!!  I say that every day but never get home before at least 7:00.

Yesterday was a very uneventful day.  We ran some errands, Library (Got another Elmo Movie and a book for me!), Half Price Books ( Argh..I spent way too much in there!!), Maplewood Mall (Radio Shack), Target and Grocery store!

After we got home I didn't do much but finish reading my book.  I finished A Virtuous Woman by Kaye Gibbons and started a new book.  Our library is having an adult reading program like the summer one they do for kids.  I joined, I am sure if I get all read I need, that the grand prize drawing is nice.  I have to read 12 books between, Jan 13 and Mar 1st.  Not sure I can do that or not, but I do read quite a bit.  I also listen to books on tape while in the car to and from work.

We watched a couple of Law and Order episodes on Tv since it is hubbys favorite show.  Hubby had rented a couple of movies so we started watching one of them, but got too tired.  We watch 1/2 of Blood Work  with Clint Eastwood in it. We will probably finish that up today or something.  I do actually HAVE to get all the chores done today so we can start our week out good.

    SUNDAY - TO DO

    Fill Soap Dispenser in Bathroom

  • YAWN!!  I am exhausted.  It has beeen a very tough week at my work.  ARGH!!   As many of you know I am a social worker for children with disabilities, most of the children I work with have autism, cp...something like that.  Well due to the state deficit we are neeing to cut 8 million dollars from one program.  ARGH!!  It is so difficult and stressful.  Last night I worked until late.  I got home around 10:00 as we had a parent meeting to tell them about the cut.  I need to go and answer questions ,etc.   I have to go to another one today, luckily this one is during the day.  So needless to say I am tired and didn't sleep well last night!!

I am so happy it is FRIDAY!!!  I didn't do anything from my list yesterday, I came home and went to bed!  WHEW!!!  I am hoping for a very relaxing weekend.  I need it to recouperate.  I have worked a lot of extra hours this week.

Well I am off to work...need to get Tommy up and ready for Daycare.

Have a great weekend..........I will figure out my list later!

  • Morning...........Man is it COLD in MN!!!  Current Temp is -15 degrees.  ARGH!!  Hubby took our oldest to school as it was too cold for him and his friends to stand at the bus stop.  Today is the last day of the quarter and Josh has finals.  Tomorrow he has no school as it is the last day of the quarter.

We had a nice evening at church class last night.  It was a farewell party for one member of our group (our previous pastors wife) and her daughters.  We also celebrated the twins birthday, they turned three years old!  It was very cute!!!

After church I gave Tommy a bath.  I think some one has bee singing the ABC's to him.  In the tub he was singing and it sounds like he has the tune of the ABC's...LOL!!  He would sing the same thing over and over...very funny!  I have Tommy going to bed a bit earlier now.  He is usually down by 8:30.  That seems to be working better, but I have to wake him in the morning for daycare still.  Speaking of which, it is my turn to take him to daycare this morning....so I best get going.   After his bath I did finish the chores on my list and headed to bed.  I read for a bit, but must have fallen asleep with my book, as I woke up hold my book still..LOL!!!

    TO DO - THURSDAY

    One Load of Laundry
