Month: January 2003

  • MONDAY IS OVER ALMOST!!  YEAH!!  My morning didn't go the best today.  I got Tommy all ready for daycare and folded my usual load of laundry while he ate breakfast.   We get in the car and drive off, I get a block away and look in the rear view mirror and realize I forgot to put on any makeup!  LOL!!  So back home we dash for a quick application of foundation!

We make it to daycare fine.  I head to my office as I have a training all day there.  I get off the elevator on our floor and it is very steamy, weird!  It smelled like maybe they had cleaned the carpet.  Odd, since it is a pretty new building.  I go to my desk and realize the training I was suppose to be at was in the Western Service Center, not our building.  ARGH!!  I guess I will use thetime to catch up on paperwork instead.

I am working away and the fire alarm goes off!  ARGH!!  What fool would make us do a fire drill on this *darn cold day!!  I decide on second thought to grab my jacket even a few minutes outside otoday would be unbearable.  The entire building emptys and we stand in the parking lot complaining about the fool who did the drill as the fire trucks come screeching down the street!  OOOPS....this is real!!  Ok, real or not, it is really cold out and I can't sit in my car and stay warm as I left my car keys at my desk.  A co-worker invited me to sit in her car with her.  WHEW!!  I love her!   A few minutes later we were all heading back into the building after the all clear was sounded.

It seems the smell I was wondering about on our floor was a humidifier in the mechanical room had malfunctioned and set off the fire alarms.  It was steaming and really hot in that room.  There was condensation running down all the interior windows, etc.  Well at least we know that the fire department will get there when our alarms go off pretty quickly.

The rest of my day was pretty uneventful.  I just worked on gettting caught up on paperwork, if that is even possible.

I got home only a little late tonight.  We had supper and then it was our weekly cleaning time, well at least mine.   Joshua does do the trash collection throughout the house.  He even did the dishes tonight!   I think it was ilovebakedgoods that asked if my list for today was my weekly home blessing.  Yes, it is!

I set my timer for one hour and go to town!  My hubby watches the baby and I clean.  I like that I can do all my cleaning in one hour and only do it once a week!  Any I only will do one hour, if I am not done, I will do it next week.  Usually I can complete everything in an hour fine.  I chose Mondays partly due to Flylady, but it is the best day for me as well.  I rarely work late on Monday's and it is nice to get the house all cleaned up after the weekend.  That way I have a nice clean house all week.

I loosely folllow the Flylady routines.  I think I have finally found the balance and routine that works for me.  I wash laundry every day, at least one load.  I switch a load around ever night.  When I wake up I fold and put away one load before going to work.  Today I also folded two this evening.  I am catching up from the weekend, as I didn't do laundry at all over the weekend.

Tomorrow is my Free Day, I don't do much, just finish up my list from Monday and maybe do one or two things in my zone.  Otherwise I play with the kids and enjoy watching Judging Amy at 9:00pm.   Tuesday is a night I will schedule night meetings for work, if need be.

  • Pretty lazy day today!   I did a load of laundry, gave Tommy a bath and made Macaroni and Cheese.  I made enough mac and cheese for 6 lunches at work.  So now I have enough frozen meals for about 2 weeks of work.

I spent some time online searching for a place to buy some new birthday address labels.  The copmany I originally bought from didn't have the ones I have.  I found a cool place that has a lot of address labels.   Then them out if you are looking for some!

    Colorful Images. Com

I am sort of weird, i will buy a birthday card for 50 cents and send it, but I love having address labels that are birthday related.  Weird I know.....but I was able to buy a couple of different sets of address labels at the above place.  I should be set for a while.

Really tired, and not feeling the best so I am off to bed!  Later!

  • WHOA...I am just getting out of bed.  Argh..doesn't look like I will be making it to church this am.  I had a lot of fun last night and ate way too much food and too much wine!  We started the evening with three very large bottles of wine, they were all gone by 10:30 or so.  We started hanging out around 4:30 and the first guest left at 11:00 or so.  The remaining of us stayed up goofing around, laughing and watching "sex in the City" until 2:00am.

Hubby was his usual wonderful self.  He took care of the baby for the party.  He came out occassionally and would get everyone more wine.  All my friends just think he is the best...LOL!!  I must admit he is a pretty good guy *smirk.  He even watch a episode or so of "Sex in the City"...LOL!!  SOme of it made him leave the room.   We laughed, and laughed........

It was a lot of fun, but I think today will be a lazy day now!  YAWN!!!  Oh well.  Tommy was very good, though he did throw a little people toy in my glass of wine and he laughed and laughed about that!

I don't think I will have much of a to do list today.  I need to just clean up the kitchen from the party and finish a case transfer for work.

Time for me to shower, as Tommy is being naughty for Daddy.

OH BTW, for those who asked about the Tommy's shoe.  I am running late for getting him to daycare and I have a pair of shoes I had put away for him on him.  Just was I am walking out the door I see his other shoe finally after I had spent a good hour looking for it, under the end table in the living room.  So the shoe has been found.  good thing I always have stuff the next size bigger put away from garage sales this last summer.    Which reminds me I should start going thorugh his size 2 box downstairs and see if some of it will fit him now.  He is starting to out grow his current size.   I need to start selling his outgrown stuff on Ebay.   Hmmm..Maybe I will do some Ebay this weekend!

    Have a great day!!!!

  • Morning...I have slept in!! WOO HOO!!  Feels good!  Hubby is in charge of getting Tommy ready and fed as I do it all week.   SO here I am blabbing at you before I hit the shower and go to the grocery store!

Today is my "sex in the City" party.  I have 6 girl friends coming over.  We have wine and I am going to make some appetizers and a "better than sex cake".  What other kind of cake would you make *smirk. I rented the entire 3rd season of Sex in the City on DVD, so should be fun. I am sure we will only watch a bit of this, but I think some people will stay most of the thevening!  it will be just fun to hang out with people.

  • Morning...not a great night of sleep last night.  I came to bed late and as soon as I fell asleep hubby started sniffling and coughing.  ARGH!  He woke me up a million times!  I ended up just getting up and sleeping on the couch.  I hate being woke up by someone, I get so crabby!

At least Friday's I go in to work later as Tommy has EFCE class at 9:00.  Unfortunately he didn't get into the next semester of classes so we will have to sit one out.  I feel ok about that since he is in daycare now and with others regularly.

I was getting Tommy's stuff ready last night and i can't find his other shoe.  He carried it off and I can't find where he dropped it!!  Argh!!   That should make getting him to daycare interesting.  I think I have a pair of shoes the next size bigger in his closet, I hope they fit!!  The only place I have left to look is in his bedroom, but he is sleeping in there, so has to wait.

Change the look of my web site!  Christmas is over already!

I suppose I should shower, and dress for work.  I need to get my laundry folded before I leave for Tommy's class.  After his class I am coming home to work an my plan until I have to go to a crisis home meeting.  After that meeting I will be coming home and finishing my case transfer.   I need to quick call my office and tell them i will be working outside of the office all day today.  AAAHH...I get so much more done outside the office, now that Tommy is at daycare and hubby is at his internship.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!  have a great day!!!!

  • Hey!  Well today was busy, I ended up working late again.  ARGH!!  I have been going into the office earlier and thinking I will come home early.  I never seem to make it out of the office before like 5:45.  So I have a few hours built up, so I might be able to work a part of day tomorrow.

Tonight after I got home I fixed a quick supper of Chicken and Noodles.  I then ran to the liquor store to pick up wine of tomorrow.  Tommy was very clingy to me tonight, so that was all I managed to get done.  Once Tommy was in bed I worked again!!   I have a couple of cases to transfer and I need to finish updating paperwork and write dictation, etc.   I am able to complete this at home in about 2 hours.  At the office with all the distractions, phone ringing, people coming to talk to me, etc..it took me all day and I didn't get it done.  I think I will plan on working from home one day next week and just work on writing plans.  My job has way too much paperwork!!

I have been meaning for every to talk about my resolutions, but darn if I ever find time!!

My Goals for the year, really focus on a number of areas:

    1.  Taking Care of Self - This is my main area of concentration.  Being a wife, mom and social worker, I am taking care of some one at every moment of my life.  I am terrible about taking care of my self at all!!!  I currently have both of my medical condition under good control (asthma and Interstitial Cystitis, (IC)).  But I will forget to take medications, not follow my diet, drink too much pop, etc, when I am overworked and stressed.

So my goals in this area are:  drink more water/less pop, exercise, take meds daily, bed by 10:30 and take time for me daily (read, hot bath, cross stitch, etc).

** considering I am sitting here at almost 11:30 at night and have a can of Diet MT. Dew in front of me, I might not being too good at this yet!!***

    2.  Home - Keep up with Routines/Laundry, etc.

** Actually I am doing well here, I have been caught up with laundry all year so far!  I find it works well to switch laundry around every evening and then fold the dried load in the morning.  I grab the laundry after I curl my hair and fold it on the kitchen table while Tommy eats Breakfast.  This has been working well!   I have also been making sure the diaper bag is all ready for the morning and our clothes are laid out the night before! **

    3.  Friends/Family - Actually *Make time for my friends!!  I spend every free moment with my hubby and kids. I would like to strengthen my current friendships.  Keep in touch with out of town/state friends more than a newsletter at Christmas!  I am pretty happy with my relationship with hubby and my children, they have always been a priority for me.

Goals in this area:  Send a birthday card *on time* to all my family and friends, Write friends a letter/email once a month, have one activity a month that I will do with friends!

**  I am doing ok in this so far too, I am having my "sex in the City" party tomorrow and today I wrote a card to a friend over lunch at work. **

Ok...I better head to bed, since I am up past my bedtime.  I will let you know my progress on my goals, hmmm...maybe weekly or monthly.  We will see how bored I get with it!

    Remember, It's almost FRIDAY!!   YEAH!!!

  • WHOA!!  Don't ask me how Wednesday got away from me, but it did.   I needed to get to work early so didn't blog in the morning and then after I got home we immediately left for church.  After Church we ran a couple of errands (rented the DVD's of Sex In the City for the party).  On lunch at work I ran to the Dollar Tree and picked up the greeting cards for February and March.  I decided I think I will do better if I only have to buy cards quarterly.  I have most addressed and ready to go.  And what a deal they were at the Dollar Store!  I only paid 25 cents a card.  Anyone that knows me, knows I am tight with my money!  I love being thrifty and it is a thrill to get a good deal!  I also picked up some cleaning supplies while there.

Church was great. It was nice to be back with our group.  Tommy was tired by the nights end though.   Interesting was one of our friends is moving to Kentucky.  They had found a house and decided to have a sex offenders check done on the neighborhood.  I didn't know you could do that, and they had a sex offender living right across the street.  Needless to say they didn't buy that house.  ARGH!!  I certainly will remember you can do that, if I ever buy another house, though I doubt we will move from this house!  it is official, Josh is going to Florida on the Mission Trip.  I paid his trip deposit last night and reserved his spot on the coach.  I am excited for him and aprehensive.  I know...let the child grow up!!   He will always be my baby though, even if he is a head taller than me now!

I didn't get much from my list done yesterday so it will go on today's.  I just was so tired after church that I just gave Tommy a bath and called it a night!

Argh..once again I have run out of time.  I was going to blog about my Yearly Goals a bit, but time to get the baby up and head to work.  Later!!!

    TO DO THURSDAY!!!

  • Today we seems to be back on our normal schedule.  WOO HOO!!  Now if we can just make it through the year.  Over lunch I ran a couple of errands.  I bought Birthday cards for the month.  I hope to remember everyone's birthday this year!!  ROFL!!!  People in my family with special days in the beginning of the year always get cards, but by May that is all gone to the side.

Work was busy, a lot of phone calls to make.  I had to call Social Security and you are always on hold FOREVER!!  I have little patience of that.  Otherwise work was fine

Tomorrow Families First night resume at our church.  We have our class with Tommy and Josh has confirmation.   I have to make sure I make the deposit of Josh's mission trip tomorrow to ensure his spot!!  He is putting some of his Christmas money towards it and I will pay most of it.

Tonight was busy, Josh needed a hair cut!  Tommy decided to grab the kitchen curtains I washed last night.  He can reach the window from his highchair.  It didn't help that he had chocolate on his hands.  So I washed those ones again tonight.  ARGH!!!

This weekend is my first GIRLS NIGHT party.  One of my resolutions for the new year is to make more time, actually any time, for my friends.  I am terrible about email them or calling or writing.  I just get so busy in the details of life.  I don't want to wait until I retire to have my friendships!  That would result in so many wasted years and memories.  So anyway, this Saturday I am having a few girl friends over and we are having wine, appetizers and going to watch Sex In the City!  I don't have HBO or anything, but you can now rent all the HBO series, like Sex in the City at Blockbuster.  SO I am going to rent a DVD or two and enjoy it with friends!  I am looking forward to it!  It will actually be a no kid party.  Now if I can only get my hubby to go somewhere with Tommy.   The other two boys are gone for the weekend.

I am off to bed...have a great night!

PeppermintWitch - actually it was 9:00 pm when I watch my show on TV.  I am at work in the daytime so no TV for me!  I would never get anything done either if I turned on our TV at 9:00 am.

  • Wow...I actually have time to blog before I have to get Tommy up.  I have showered and dressed already.  I am just finishing up my breakfast.  Maybe I will actually get out of the house on time today!
