I prefer the errors of enthusiasm to the indifference of wisdom. - Anatole France

  • Hello everyone - I feel like I finally had a good nights sleep.   I was alseep by like 1:00 am or so.  SO things are getting better.  I ws able to get a far amount of my list done yesterday at home and work, so I felt good about that.

I ended up staying home last night with Tommy while hubby and Josh went to Ask Wed service.  I was a bit coughy and didn't want to disturb everyone.   The children's minister called and asked me to MC the New Parent Dinner on Saturday, so I will be doing that.  I have to pick up door prize donations from Mullberry Cottage today.  I really was surprised how generous our local businesses were when I sought donations for the dinner.

Today I am working form home.  I have a ton of paperwork and time enter to do for work.  If I do it from home I am undisturbed and can get so much more done.  At my office my phone rings constantly and people stop by my desk, etc.   So I hope to get time recording all done today.   I do have to leave and attend an IEP meeting i nthe middle of the day.

This afternoon at I have another Dr appointment to discuss my chest pains.   I hope that doesn't take all day this time.

Mrs_Ann_A - the bookies group is nice.  I like to read along with them even if I don't participate in the discussions.  I find books I would have never read before.   Check it out!  http://www.geocities.com/bookiestoo/

Crazymomma - I have White Orelander on my To Be Read pile, my ever growing pile!

Peanutmom - Hmmm...how do I work and get my list done??  Well as you see I usually don't get all my list done.  Some things stay on for a while.  I have to use a list or I just forget everything.  I do my xanga before work and print out my list for the day and then put it on the kitchen table.  I don't accomlish anything without a list.  I am lucky in that my hubby usual has supper made when I arrive home from work, so one less thing for me.  I spend time with the kids after supper.  You know homework, baths and reading stories, etc.   Tommy goes to bed by usual 8:30 and Josh starts his shower then.  From 8:30 until about 10:00 or so is my time to do my list.  I go fast and I have my work sort of divided out, each day is a certain thing.  That is how I manage, it is all in the routines!!  I follow a lot of the routines, etc of flylady!   So if you are interested you can find all about Flylady at http://www.flylady.net/

I don't read all the testimonies and stuff in Flylady emails much, but I do the missions and like the reminders.  Once I had my routines and daily plans developed that worked for me, it was simply make my list for the day.  I do best when I am organized and on top of things.  Hope this helps, sure helped me!  This month Flylady is focusing on getting for finances in order.  I am really finding that helpful, but am already doing most of the things.

If I remember I will try and share some of my household forms and weeekly routines, etc......I was working on getting them on my website.  Another tip that I find helpful is since i have my list and I know what i need to do, I will do a few things during my lunch break at work.  On Wednesdays during my lunch break I do home paperwork sort of stuff, clip coupons, make grocery list, etc.  On Thursdays I run any errands over lunch that I might have, like Target, Dollar Store, Bank, Post Office.  I save all errands for one day.  That really really helps!!  Nothing eats up more time then having to run to the grocery store every day, etc.

  • Up again late last night, but I am getting a number of things done.  I got caught up on some mailing list and returning emails.  I think I might start participating with an old book group I used to frequent, BookieToo.  My mother belongs to it.  My current book group, has jsut not been active and I miss the discussion of books.  So the other group is reading Middlesex by Eugenides next, so I think I will buy that book today.  I haven't bought a book in ages!

  • Pretty productive day today.  This morning I went around and got donations for our New Parents Dinner on Saturday at church.  But tonight I called another member of the committee and it seems like very few people have RSVP for the dinner.  I left a message with the Youth Ministry Pastor to see if we will still be doing the dinner as I need to print the nametags yet!    I am sure I will hear from her tomorrow.  I am really enjoying being a part of a committee at church.  I hope it becomes a bit more active, but so far it has been interesting.   I feel like I need a few outside interests from work and home to stay sane!    I have also been meaning to attend a book discussion group that some friends from work have.   I am determined to make it to the meeting this month!!  Between the book group and the committe at church, that would be two evenings a month that would be "me time".  I think that would be ideal.

I did get a number of things done at work, but my list is still LONG!!  It will be while unti lI catch up.  I was able to work about 5-1/2 hours today since I had church things to do this morning.  Tomorrow should be a full 8 hour day for me.  We are having a potluck at work tomorrow I made Chineese Cabbage Salad to take with.

    Chinese Cabbage Salad

    1 bunch Nappa (chinese) cabbage
    1 Bunch Green Onions
    1/2 C Margarine
    1/2 C Sesame Seeds
    1/2 C Slivered almonds
    2 pk Ramon noodles, oriental
    1/2 C Sugar
    1/2 C Oil
    1/4 C White Vinegar
    1 Tablespoon Soy sauce
    1/8 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Chop the nappa cabbage and green onions.  Saute the sesame seeds, slivered almonds and 2 pkgs of Ramon noodles in 1/2 cup of butter.  DO NOT USE THE FLAVOR PACKETS.  Stir constantly.  Let the mixture cool before storing in the refrigerartor.  Add to the cabbage when ready to serve.  Mix the remaining ingredients for the dressing.  Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.  Shake well and pour over salad.

It a very yummy salad, a friend of mine used to make it where I used to work!   He was famous for it!   Bob's Salad!

I even got all my Dr appointments made todat.  I need to see my regular Dr this Thursday as I still have chest pains.  I will have a follow up with my asthma/allergy Dr on 3/25.   I also have to receive asthma education from a respirator nurse in April as part of my aftercare.  My mom should be happy to see that I have made my appointments   I really need to make sure I go to the clinic tomorrow and pick up my prescription.  Maybe hubby will do it for me.  I have the hardest time getting out of my office early.

Tomorrow we are going up to Erik's Mom and Stepfathers to fill out the paperwork the school sent home for his evaluation by the Special Education Department.  Yes, he is being evaluated by them for the 3rd time.  I swear this time I *will be leaving with an IEP or I will be going to the state.  I can't sit by and watch this child continue to fail like he is.

Let's see what else can I blab about...hmmmm.....I suppose that should be it and I should head to bed.  I am not tired though...GRRRRR.....

Could be a long drive to work today, it is snowing.  Hubby is out snow blowing the drive way as I type.  I think I will try and post the last of my pictures and then I will neb and get ready for work.  Happy Monday!

Xanga still not uploading my pictures....this is frustrating!

  • The weekend has come to an end.   DRATS!!  I could use another day or so.  I spent so much of the weekend with Erik and Homework!  It felt great to be back at church today.  Tommy continues to scream as soon as I try to take him into the nursery.  I took him into the service with us for a bit, until he starts trying to run in the aisle.  They I took him to the nursery.  He did ok.

After church we went to Perkins for brunch.  The kids were all great.  Tommy sat well and ate his food like a big boy.   Then it was home to neb and finish up Erik's homework with him!   I did a few of the items on list, but mostly took it easy.  I was having chest pains today.  I am not sure what that is about, but I suppose I will have to have it checked out by the Dr this week.

I have been reading my book. "The Homemakers of America" by Laurie Graham and am enjoying that.  I tend to get about 20 minutes of uninterrupted reading time every time I need to ned.  So that is about 3 times a day yet.

My work week looks pretty quiet, with only a couple of meetings.  I should be able to return all my phone messages.   I need to try an stop at three businesses tomorrow morning and see if they will make a donation for the New Mom Dinner at church on Saturday.

Today I did manage to get the most recent photos I developed into our album.  I only have about 2 years prior to do yet!!  But I am putting them all in now as I get them back.  I of course scanned a few favorites to share.   So I think I will leave you with some pics.............................

Tommy, Mommy and Josh - Christmas Eve, 2002

Josh and Dad - Christmas Eve, 2002

I have a few more pictures that I was going to upload, but xanga isn't cooperating right now.  I will try to post the rest in the morning!!  You can enjoy a couple of shots from Christmas Eve till them

  • My sleep continues to be weird.  I go to bed later than usual and am awake earlier than usual.  Oh, well I am sure it is the medication, the predisone to be exact.  The non sleeping effect should continue to get better as I taper off the medication.

I forgot to mention the sticker shock I got in the mail yesterday!   I got my explanation of benefits from my insurance company for my hospial stay.   OH MY!!  The hospital billed my insurance over $14,000 for my 4 day stay!  That is outrageous, yes, i was in intensive care for two days, but my God!   The part I was most concerned about of course was the member responsiblity and I will need to pay about $500.00 for the stay out of pocket.  That wasn't exactly figured into our budget.  I am so glad we have health insurance.  I could not imagine what our life would be like if we didn't have it.

Finally, I am well enough that we can go to church this SUnday!  YEAH!!!  I have sure missed attending services the last two weeks.   I think we can actually even go to Old Country Buffet after church today.  The kids will be excited as it has been a while since we could afford to go after church.

The rest of my day will be spent finishing up my list from yesterday and preparing for my work week.   I should do some laundry as well.   Have a nice and relaxing Sunday with your families!

    SUNDAY TO DO:

    • Clean Car & Van Boogie

Let our children grow tall, and some taller than others if they have it in them to do so. - Margaret Thatcher

  • AAAAH....ME TIME!!   Well it is 9:00, Tommy is in bed.  Erik is playing video games after a very long day of homework.  He did about 1 hour this afternoon and after supper he did about another 1-1/2 for homework.  He still has three more worksheets to complete tomorrow after church!  Hubby and Josh are watching monte Python on BBC.  Me....I am alone with my thoughts and able to xanga in peace.........AAAAHHHHHH!  ...what a welcomed time!

BRB -  I need to prompt Erik to get ready for bed and get him his snack.

    Ok...Back.......

Today was very busy, but I didn't seem to get anything done on my list!  I guess I have tomorrow's list all made then.   This morning I woke up beofre everyone and got ready for my day after my quiet hour alone in the computer room.   Hubby didn't get out of bed until like after 10:00 and there were showers to be taken by all of them yet.  ARgh...so I decided I would head out and go to the bank.  I had been needing to open a savings account for Tommy since he was born.   I opened an account for Tommy and Erik and made some adjustments to Joshua's savings account.

Then I came home to get everyone else so we could go to the library, something we do every Saturday usually.   Erik needed to get books for his homework assignment, but luckily later we found the exact stuff he was using at school for the assignement.  Whew...that saved my weekend.

I reserved the book on tape Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton for my IRL book discussion group.  I am determined to actually make it to the discussion group this month!!   I also checked out The Future Homemakers of America by Laurie Graham, for my online book group, the Bookmoms.  I started reading this and it seems intersting so far.  It says it is a "funny and wry portrait of six women friends from WWII to the 1990s, as well as of America's changing social mores and attitudes".  The women are all military wives.   It made me things of Nconmymind.

We made it home in time for a late lunch.   Hubby and I made quesadillas for lunch, which is quick and the kids like.  Then is was time for Erik's homework!   He worked and completed about 3 pages, then he was off to play.   Tommy took a short nap and I can't remember where the rest of the afternoon went.  LOL!!   Just hanging out with Tommy and we watched Big Bird dance video.

Then hubby and decded to take the big plunge.  We went to K-mart and bought Tommy a Elmo Potty Chair.  We aren't really starting to potty train Tommy, but we wanted to have it sitting in the bathroom and have him sit on it.  That way by the time we want to start actually working on potty training he isn't scared of the chair and is used to it.  Today we had it in the living room and he eventually would go up to it, sit on it and get off.  Of course we had to take pictures!!!   he would sit his stuffed Elmo on it too.

Oh and Tommy's other accomplishment today.  Hubby was showing me something in the computer room so I came in there.   Tommy came walking in with the Big Bird video and clear and day handed it to me and said "bird".   He hasn't said it again since though.   I worked a bit on updating his baby calendar today so I will have to add that tidbit.

Next weekend we are taking Tommy to "kids Hair" to get his first offical haircut!   I am afraid his curls will be gone forever then.  Daddy says he is starting to look like a girl, so we need to cut the curls.

Let's see what else....I guess we rounded out my day with making supper (pasta, sauce, corn and garlic bread) and then had Erik doing homework at the kitchen table as I washed dishes and made a pan of homemade Mac N Cheese with the leftover pasta from supper.  I froze those for quick lunches on another day for Tommy.

That is my day....the rest of the night is mine to do as I please I figure.   I will probably head to bed and read after I finish up on the computer and read my SIR's.  I need to update my books read in February on my webpage too.

    SUNDAY TO DO:

    • Vaccuum Under Living Room Furniture
    • Clean Car Boogie
    • E-bay pictures taken
