Month: April 2003

  • Hello.....time for my weekly update.  About all I am manage lately.   Spring is a great time....but busy!

ME:  Medically I am still struggling with figuring out my chest pains.  I saw a pulmonologist on Monday and he made some med changes he thinks will improve my situation.  We will see.

Work is stressful as I am supporting a family through their grief as their 1-1/2 year old dies.  It is hard not to take the home with you at the end of the day.  Investigating options and making arrangements.  I am trying hard to find some balance for myself.

JOSH:  He went to his retreat last weekend for church.  He is very excited at he wanted a GT mountain bike for his birthday and we won one on Ebay the other night.  He can't wait for it to arrive in the mail.

He started Driver's Education class on Monday as well.  Busy young man!

TOMMY:  Is doing great, chatting away.  Loves to be outside and wants to be out all the time.  So that is what we do.  He enjoys going on bike rides.

Work calls.....later!!  Hope you are all well!

  • hey...I actually have something to say *smirk.   I wanted to share with you all the lovely evening we just had.  We went with our church group to a domestic violence shelter.  We took our kids to have a Easter party with the children in the shelter.  We played inside and outside, we had an egg hunt and decorated sugar cookies.

I held a little boy about a year old for the evening.  We brought gifts for all the children and enjoyed playing with them.  A couple of little boys attached themselves to my hubby and he was struggling to carry them all at once!! LOL!!   Everyone loves him what can I say...........He is a child magnet!

  • Hey all..........My entry lately just aren't exciting to me.  I have much to say but this doesn't seem to the forum for it right now for me.  I am sure I will occassionally post, but I think I will be taking a break for a bit.  I will still post what the kids are up to as it is my record of their life for me.

I am sure I will continue to visit all my regulars, but just might not post much.   Xanga isn't what it once was to me.........that is unfortunate.

  • I guess when all is said and done you are who you believe you are.......and that should be good enough for everybody else.  --Susan Tamol.

  • I'm Back!   I had a very nice trip to Duluth, MN.  I spent the evening in my hotel room reading.  I actually finished the Sweet Potato Queens Big Ass Cookbook while I was there.  It was so nice and quiet, my collegues all went out so I would have the place to myself.  I really needed that, time to reflect and replenish my energies.  On the return trip from Duluth, I started feeling ill.  Argh!!  I eneded up staying home sick on Wednesday, but was back at work on Thursday.   I haven't been around xanga much, jsut spending some time with my family since my return, etc.

Now it is Easter weekend, which is a busy time as well.  Tonight we will attend Good Friday service.  I didn't make it to service last night though, I didn't feel up to it really.   Tonight the boys and I will watch the Most Talented kids as we enjoy that show.  Tommy dances and dances throughout the show.  Josh will watch it with us too.

Last night Josh and I made a Chocolate Sheet cake.  We all jsut hung out for the evening as we didn't have Musikgarten last night.

Saturday morning we are taking Tommy to the Easter Egg Hunt at church.  The rest of the day should be pretty quiet.  Sunday afternoon we are having family over for Easter meal.  I am trying three new recipes for Taste of Home.  If we like them I will share them here.  Well I think that is it.....I need to get busy at work as I want to leave early to make it to church.  Talk to you later.

  • Home from the zoo, had a great time!  Tommy is napping and now mommy is going to read/nap a bit.  Hubby is getting the grill ready as he is making steaks tonight.  AAAH.....what a nice day.  Hope everyone else is enjoying their Saturday!!!

  • Morning....IT IS THE WEEKEND!!! YEAH!!!   Today we are heading to the library this morning.  Then coming home for a quick bite to eat and are going to the MInnesota Zoo.  The zoo has an exhibit of baby animals you can pet.  I thought Tommy would love that.  We are going with my SIL and her family also my other SIL that babysits Tommy is going along.  She wants to see him and Kristen with the animals.  We are picking her up at around 11:45.   So I best get going and get out of my pj's.

Tomorrow I leave for Duluth.  YEAH!!  I bought a new book to read on the trip.   It was one the library didn't own and I had been wanting to read, Confessions of a Shopaholic.  Chat with you all later!  Have a great day!!  It is a beautiful warm day in Minnesota.....great day to go to the zoon.

  • Thought I would share this...hubby sent to me as did my mother.  I don't always read everyone's email so I missed it.   But I thought it was worth sharing.

    The Battle

An elder Cherokee Native American was

teaching his grandchildren about life one day.

He said to them, “A battle rages inside me... a terrible

    battle... between two wolves.”

“One wolf is fear & anger, envy & greed

    lies & arrogance, inferiority & self-pity,

    pride, superiority, and ego.”

“The other is joy & peace, love & hope,

sharing & serenity, humility & kindness,

benevolence & friendship, empathy & generosity,

    truth, compassion, and faith.”

It is a terrible battle that has been waged repeatedly within me.”

“This same battle will go on within each of you,

and all other people, as well.”

After pondering for a moment, one child

asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”

To which the wise old man simply replied,

    “The one you feed...”

  • What a great day!!  I was in the office until about 1:00 then I got to go out side and go on a home visit.  The weather was wonderful here in Minnesota!  It has certainly improved my mood.  This morning while I was getting ready for work my styling brush/hair dryer thing died, half way through doing my hair!!  ARGH!!  So I bought a new one after work today.  So I certainly had a bad hair day today!!

Today I saw a little boy using a creepster crawler at work.  Very cool, great therapy for any child with Cerebral Palsy.  He really could move around, otherwise he was non mobile.

Tonight we started up our first class of the second session of Musikgarten.  Tommy loves the class.  There are more children this session so it is harder for Tommy to wait for his turn.  But it is fun!

After class hubby had to go to a meeting at church.  I played outside with Tommy for a while.  Tommy didn't want to come in so Joshua played with him outside so I could quickly put away a few loads of laundry.  Then Tommy got ready for bed and we watched on episode of Elmo's World before bed.   Erik's mom dropped him off for the weekend.   Erik is grounded from the Internet at his mom's so he will be here to.  He seems to understand that ok.

I should head to bed and read for a bit.  Have a great evening.

    ***COMMENTS***

Frejaluna - Hey there!  I bet you were loving the weather today.  Sure gets your ready to plant your gardens.  Not nearly as depressing as the snow the other day.  Ok...xanga ate my comments to you the other night...now what did I say???  I totally recommend buying greeting cards a few months at a time minimally.  If you can afford to do more at a time it only cuts down on the trip to the store in my book!  That is a good thing.  Oh Yeah, and of course I love Little House on the Prairie!!  I wish I had a daughter to share that with, my boys aren't very interested.  When I go home to South Dakota I always want to stop at the LIW house in Watertown I think it is.  I have yet to do it, though I think as a child I was there on a field trip from school.  That is terrible I can't remember for sure!!

FLYmom - I had one of those greeting cards organizers, but I hated it.  It didn't hold up to my abuse and secondly I can't have my card in a separate place.  It is one more thing to remember to look in.  I keep them with my bills and when I pay bills I mail my cards too!  I treat my cards like bills....obligations...LOL!!

It is too funny we are reading the same book right now!!  LOL!!  I just started it last night so I am not very far.  But I have read about the woman feeding her hubby maggots.  I read it to my hubby and he didn't find the humor in it!  LOL!!   I did, that is all the matters.   I am reading this for a book group and one of my friends had already started reading the book and was upset saying it was too much male bashing, etc.  Now how do I go to book group and say I think it is funny!

OH yeah...I have a question for you.  What was the name of the song you had on your site the other day by Ginny Owens?  I really like it!  I had never heard of her but will be checking her tunes out!

Mrs_Ann_A - I so agree with the time change thing.  It is a love hate thing.  I love it to be light after supper so we can play outside, but it takes me so long to adjust.  I must be getting old since I **Still feel like I am adjusting.  ARGH!!  I hope next week is better!
