Month: June 2003

  • REVIEW OF MY GOALS......

I do believe it is important to make goals for yourself.  I as many people make them at the beginning of the year.  Don't we all, but I do try to reflect back on my goals for the year periodically.  I wish I would remember to this monthly, but at least I do it...LOL!!!

So here is is.....I initially posted the areas I wanted to work on this year on January 9th.

    1) Taking Care of Self -

Not doing the best in this area, but I am making slow progress.  I have now gotten into a habit of taking my meds and do take them daily.   My asthma is under pretty good control, though I was in the ICU in February.  Since February, I am on many more asthma meds and I rarely miss a dose.  When you nearly die...you realize I should take these meds! LOL!!

Less Pop/ More water - I am still drinking more pop than I wished.  I would like an average day to be about 2 cans.  I usually need to have about 3 cans a day.  I am back on my water drinking schedule and am trying to be more aware of how much water I drink.

Exercise- I come and go with this.  I was running a few times a week, now this last week I haven't done much.  We did go on a family bike ride last night.  This is a very hard on for me!  But I have lost some weight.....more to lose though.  The exercise is more about increasing my endurance due to the breathing trouble I have and lack of energy after my hospitalization.  I am able to do more now.....hopefully soon to be back to regular me.

Diet - I am regularly eating breakfast again.  I am trying to eat less carbs and always bring my lunch to work due to savings of money and diet.  I try to eat well for my breakfast and lunch, but have whatever everyone else has for supper.

Bed by 10:30 - most night I make this time frame just by necessity.  I am TIRED!!  Some nights even earlier!

Time for Me....   I have joined a book discussion group and once a month I meet with them to discuss our selected book.  This has been a good thing for me.  I also am staying active in my group at church.  So I am having times when I can do things with other ladies.  I enjoy these moments very much.

I think that this is the area in my life I need to keep a bit more track of.  I think I will maybe write daily for a month or so about this goal and see if that keeps me on track.

    2) HOME - Keeping UP with Routines/Laundry

Doing well....FlyLady would be proud.  If I fall off I am able to jump right back in fairly easyily.

Laundry - I got totally caught up with this while Josh and Erik were gone for 10 days.  Now to just keep up with it!  So far so good!

    3)  Friends/Family

Doing well...I have remembered most bithdays and anniversaries.  I haven't been writing as many letter as I would like, but hey at least people are getting cards!

Monthly activity with friends...book group!  I am so happy to be a part of this.  It is my monthly night out!

    Back to work...lunch is over.....

  • The older children have returned and life is not as relaxed anymore.  I am glad they are back, but it certainly is a lot more work.  It is odd, but they are more work than Tommy.

Hubby went to work on Saturday, but came home early.  He was really sick and slept the remaineder of the day.  He got up around 4:00 and we ran to Target to pick up a few small items.  Kristen had come over to play as well.  Julie brought over some diapers that Kristen will no longer be using.    After Tommy went to bed we watched Mullholland Dr.  Have any of you every watched that??  I was so confused, what was that movie about??

    SUNDAY:

Our last few hours of only one child.  I am trying to enjoy it.  The house is so quiet, but I am actually enjoying it.   I needed to be at church early as I was to sit at the registeration table for Parent's Night Out!   No one registered while I was there.  Joshua was at church when we got there.  It was very nice to see him.   He had a very good time and wants to go on mission trip next year.   He worked at a sheltered workshop with disabled adults and at the salvation Army.   Working with disabled adults is not anything new to him.  I work in the field and in years past I was a weekend coordinator at a group home and he went to work with me.  Also my nephew has autism.  The nice things Josh said about his trip was that "he got more out of working with people then they got from him".

Erik went to the movie with his bio mother and then came home in the afternoon.  He is happy to be home and very clingy.  He hugs us every other second.  I made a nice supper with dessert (Erik loves to have desset).  We had meatloaf, potatoes and corn.  I made a oreo pie for dessert.

I am making a point of staying with my routines.  I did my evening one fine, dishes done, packed for the day, laundry put away.   Both tables cleared off.   YEAH!!  I hope I can keep up with this.  I know how important our routines are to keeping our house running smoothly.  I even got to bed early enough to read for an hour.  AAAH....

    MONDAY:

Hubby's day off.  I am off at work and he took Tommy to daycare and is staying home with the other two boys.  I got up sort of late, but did get laundry done and refilled our monthly meds container.

I left a chore list for the boys to complete before I get home.  I find that even when hubby is home with the boys I have to leave a chore list.  He has a worse time remembering than the boys.   I hope they get their things all done.  I decided that I will need to do a chore list each day just to keep the house running smoothly and the boys on traack.

Tonight is my weekly cleaning night......so here is my to do list as I need to get back to work.

    TO DO:

    • Change Sheets
    • Dust & Vacuum
    • Sweep & Mop
    • Mirrors & Doors
    • Sweep the Laundry Room
    • Clean off top of Fridge
    • Evening Routine

My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring
      And carried aloft on the winds of the breeze;
For above and around me the wild wind is roaring,
Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas.

  • The weekend is here................YEAH!

Friday when hubby got home we decided to go out for supper since the older two are still gone. We went to Red Lobster, with Tommy of course. We had a nice meal. Afterwards we went to Marshall Fields to buy hubby another shirt and tie for his second interview with US Bank. I hope he gets this job. Then off to Old Navy to buy Tommy some new socks.

Then we came home and played a bit and Tommy took a bath before bed. A pretty lazy evening overall. I worked on my website and read. I ended moving to the couch during the night as hubby was coughing so much. Hubby got up this morning with Tommy's vomitting and tummy problems. ARGH!! He took some medicine and did head to work. Tommy heard Daddy and was up at 5:30. I think he will be taking a good nap today.

I put Tommy in bed with me and watched Elmo's World for a bit. But he really wanted to jsut get up for the day. So we have been up since EARLY!! I hate that!

We will head to the library as soon as it opens and do a couple of small errands. Then I think Tommy will want an early nap and me too! Have a great DAY!

    Saturday TO DO:

    Go To Library
    Fold Laundry and Put Away

Clean off the Top of Fridge
    Make Block Party Note
    Call Matt N.

    Vacuum Josh & Erik's Room
    Sweep out the Laundry Room

    JOSH COMES HOME TOMORROW!!!!!!! YEAH!

  • Time to head to bed...spent too much time tonight updating my homepage, Check it out...

    http://jasmine1931.tripod.com/

Working on my Reading Resources for an hour or so and now I need to head to bed.

  • I am doing pretty well on my "To Do" list, so I think I will be able to spend the quiet time while Tommy naps reading....what a luxury! YEAH!!

    TO DO:
    Wash bedding
    Remake Bed

    Clear off Dining Room table
    Sweep Kitchen
    Wash Dishes

Tommy seems to be feeling fine. It is weird how he will vomit so much and then be fine. I am sure using up all my time off from work with him. ARGH....no vacation this year. I will have to try to work some extra hours on the weekends coming up.

  • Book Group was a great time as always. I left Prior Lake where we were meeting around 10:00 and made it home at about 10:45. I called hubby to let him know i was on my way home. What a night he had with Tommy. When he got him home from daycare, Tommy started vomitting again. He gave him supper and the vomitting continued throughout the night. Poor hubby, he has thw worse time cleaning that up. But he did of course, What a great guy.

So of course Tommy could not go to daycare today. I have to stay home iwth him, but I think he is fine. I am beginning to think that the vomitting is a food allergy. We will see....he had peanut butter right before leaving daycare.

I have a number of things to get done today.

    TO DO:
    Wash bedding
    Remake Bed

    Clear off Dining Room table
    Sweep Kitchen
    Wash Dishes

    Later..............

  • The week is getting away from me again. Time is flying by and I am not getting 1/2 of the things i thought I would get done while the older boys are gone. I am jsut enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. AAAAAH.....

I am all caught up on laundry and I finally did my weekly cleaning last night after work. I jsut have to change bedding yet. I will get to that maybe tonight, we will see.

Tonight is my only night of the month I go out. I am so looking forward to it. It is my book group meeting tonight. We are going to my friend Linda's house in Prior Lake, a bit of a haul for me. But the group os such a fun group of women, well worth the drive.

The Dr was right, the Benedryl has gotten Tommy back in his correct sleeeping pattern. Tonight I will try putting him to bed with no benedryl. Though I hope he is in bed when I get home tonight. I usually don't get home from book group until almost 10:00 or later. We just have so much fun!

Oh GREAT NEWS!! Hubby was called for a second interview with US Bank. So we have to go buy another shirt and tie this weekend. I am so excited for him.

Joshua is in Florida still, the mission phone line says they are all doing fine. They are working with the homeless population. they have worked in a soup kitchen, clothes center, food shelf and working with children. I am sure it is a real eye opener for Josh. he has worked in a soup kitchen before here in the cities. I am starting to miss him, he will be home on Sunday at church time. I know Tommy will be very excited to see him!@

I best hit the shower and get to work....unit meeting this morning. LATER!

  • I am smiling today!!  I completed the phone application to refinance my mortgage and the interest rate was even lower today!  I am glad I didn't lock in yesterday!  I locked in at 5.628% for the life of my loan.  this cut another 10.00 a month off my payment.

  • Tommy slept pretty good last night. He woke up once at about 11:30 but went right back to sleep and slept until 7:15. Whew...that works for me! I hope tonight he slepts just as well.

Hubby had to run to US Bank and take his application in. The interview went well yesterday and hopefully he will have a second interview. Things are looking up for us finally. Our Savings had been dwindling so this really helps out a lot as will the refinancing of the house.

Today is a busy day. I will be working a bit later, which is ok since I need some extra hours since I only worked a partial day yesterday. I have a 5:00 home visit tonight.

I have manage to switch laundry around already this morning and folded one load. Chicken is thawing for supper. Man do we eat a lot of boneless chicken breasts!

    TO DO TUESDAY
Complete refinance application over the phone
    Wrap Emma's present to mail
    Change Sheets
    Sweep & Mop
    Vacuum & Dust
    Garbage
    Mirrors and Doors

  • I almost forgot to mention, I am all caught up on my laundry. I haven't been able to say that in a LONG TIME!! Now the trick is to stay caught up!
