Month: August 2003

  • my back is still very sore, but a bit better today.  I do have an appointment with the Chiropractor this afternoon.  YEAH!!!!  I always feel so much better after that.

    Not much went on yesterday.  I went home early as Joshua was sick and running a fever, plus my back really hurt.   Supper was a quick run to the store for a already cooked chicken from the deli.  Way too hot to cook.

    This weekend we have only Tommy.  Hubby and I are so looking forward to a nice quiet weekend.  I think we might go to Battle Creek Water Park, we are not entirely sure yet.

    I did get a few things done last night, I changed the sheets, made hubby's lunch, started some laundry and that is about it!  The rest of the night I just layed around since my back was hurting.

    Erik had almost made it the four days to earn a sleep over.  He earns it by not lying, stealing or sneaking each day.  Last night I went down to get meat out for supper and Erik was laying in bed playing ninetendo with the sound turned off.  So that was sneaking....he knew he wasn't suppose to be playing, hence the sound turned off.   So now he is back at the start.  If he does well tonight, it will be day one.   It would be nice if he could earn another sleep-over before school starts.   But if he chooses to make a bad decision, he will have to live with it.   Erik did finish his last book he had to read for the summer.   So he will get his 20.00 of prize money to use on our weekend away.  He will haveto budget it, if he spends it all at once, he will be without money the rest of the weekend.  What a mean Mommy!

    Time to get to work.......

  • I woke up fairly crabby this morning. No one should talk to me for atleast another 30 minutes. GRRRRRRRR....I ended staying up a bit last night. I figured I should pay the bills since there were only three of them. My back is sore this mroning. I think I need a visit to the chiropractor. I need to buy a new pillor when I go there as well.

    Nothing much else going on today. I have a lot of paperwork to do at work today. I have two reports to court to complete as I need to appear in court twice next month for review of placements I have done. I hate court stuff. I got a new case yesterday. One of the other social worker went on some kind of leave so we have to take on her caseload. ARGH!!! This is getting unmanageable. but so far I am still caught up.

    I am off to shower and head to work. Have a great day!

    TUESDAY TO DO:

    * Dust
    * Vacuum
    * Change Bed Sheets ours & Toms.
    * Sweep my bedroom

  • It is a hot one in Minnesota today...the temps reached about 96 I think. Not a good thing for this asthmatic. The heat makes it so hard for me to breathe, plus it is prime allergy time.

    I only got a few of my chores done tonight. Some will have to go on tomorrows list. I was jsut tired. Tommy had gotten up twice last night crying from bad dreams. I hope he sleeps tonight. Josh had jsut walked by the nursey and he said he thought he smelled Tommy. So I go take a flashlight into the nursey and sure enough Tommy has messed his diaper. ARGH!! And he is sound alseep. So I carefully changed him by flashlight. I hope he goes back to sleep ok.

    Josh went to Breathe tonight at church. It is the high school youth group. He really has found a great group of kids to be with there. I am so happy for him.

    Other than that it was the usually night...make supper, bathe baby, dress baby, take baby for walk, put baby to bed. Time to do chores, sweep and scrub floors and clean the doors and windows. Time to collapse...........

    Have a great night! Chat at ya tomorrow!

  • Wow...where has the time gone!! My mother has come and gone already. We were very busy with her here and then again we are alwyas very busy.

    Thursday my SIL and I drove out to Hutchinson, MN to pick up my mother. On the way back into the cities we stopped at the Maple Grove Once Upon A child. I bought a fabulous Columbia winter jacket for Tommy with snow pants. I found him a Little Tykes Wagon and some much needed PJ's. I also found him a nice Tommy Hilifiger shirt for chuch. After that I stopped at S R Harris fabric outlet to buy some fleece to make a "twice as warm blanket" for my neighbors who had twin boys a couple of weeks ago.

    Friday I was off of work to get ready for the Block Party. Our finally count waw 94 people had paid and RSVPed. Friday my neighbor and I went ot Sam's club and bought all the food. Hubby made his Famous Dave's beans. We had a dunk tank and a moon walk thing for the kids. It was great fun!! On Saturday, my mom was a live saver. She was able to watch Tommy and chase him around while we did the block party. Hubby cooked and I stayed busy with a ton of misc. things from running games to make root beer floats.

    Sunday we just cleaned up and relxed. WOW were we ever tired! I finally went to bed at about midnight on Saturday night, but there were still people sitting in our yard having a great time. I just couldn't stay awake. Oh..yeah...and my oldest ran into a metal fence on Saturday night and hurt his front teeth.

    Sunday morning we had an emergency dental appointment to have his teeth looked at. He has a piece of metal stuck in his front tooth that they will try to remove at his next appointment. His front teeth were too loose and sore to remove it on that day. The emergency appointment was not as expensive as I thought it would be, now to see if our insurance will pay for any of it.

    Now our week begins!! Our daycare was closed for the week of August 11th so that is why my mother was staying with us. She watched the kids so we could still go to work. I didn't ahve enough time to take off since I had taken about 10 days off in February when I was in the hospital. That messed everything up. I hope to just take the two weeks off next year when the day care is closed and jsut stay home with the boys or go somewhere or something.

    The rest of the week was pretty normal. My mom watched the kids during the day and I came home made supper and took care of them in the evening.

    Monday I had to appear in court for work so had to be out of the house early. Good thing hubby has Monday's off so he was around with my mom and the kids. Tuesday I had to take Joshua to register for school and get his pictures then, etc. Wed and Thursday, work, work.......

    Friday I worked only a part of the day then I took Joshua School clothes shopping. He really didn't need much only two pairs of pants, sock, tennis shoes and gym shorts. I hate shopping.....Friday evening my mom and I went to craft night at our church. We had a great time. We complete two "twice as Warm blankets". Then turned out great!! Joshua wants me to make one for him with the school colors for foot ball games, etc. I will probably try and make Erik one as well. Maybe for Christmas??? We will see. I am planning on going to craft night once a month so hopefully I can get something accomplished. Either I will make more blankets for Christmas or I will work on my scrapbooks.

    Saturday we ran errands in the mornings and I made Egg Rolls in the afternoon. My mom and I took the blankets and some fresh egg rolls over to my neighbors. The rest of the eveing we jsut relaxed....YEAH!!!

    Sunday, we went to church of course. We caught up with a lot of people we needed to, etc. After Church we changed clothes and got ready to take Grandma back to meet my Dad in Hutchinson. It was sure nice to have grandma with us. We hope she can come stay another time with us again next year. I really want my children to know their grandparents, but that is hard since they live in another state and Tommy doesn't travel that well. Sunday evening hubby and I went to get groceries. It is great to be able to leave Tommy and Erik with Joshua. Josh is such a help around the house. He is really getting to be such a responsible young man.

    Well off to work, I have finished as much of my lunch as I plan on eating. later....

    Midwestblahs - Ok....I have to share...I bought some Kaboom!! I love it!!! My new favorite cleaner, thanks for the info. My bathroom grout is looking better and better!

    • Pay Bills

  • THURSDAY........ROAD TRIP!

    I am off to pick up my mom as soon as SIL gets here. We are driving to Hutchinson and meeting them 1/2 way from South Dakota where they live.

    My mom will be staying with us for about 10 days as my daycare provider is on vacation next week. Mom will take care of the kids so I can work. Also she will be here to help with the block party....YEAH!! Actually she can keep tabs on Tommy while i am busy,etc.

    Later all!

  • Morning not out to the best start. Middle son caught sneaking and lying AGAIN! His dad is so very mad at him! WOW. Even i don't ever make Dad that mad.
    Yesterday I had oldest son give middle son three of his dollars in case it rained and they went bowling at church day camp. I come home and ask Erik (middle) what he did at camp. He lists it all and I say do you have the money left. Well...no we went bowling, I said, but it didn't rain. No it sprinkled here. I buy it, I work in another town, so maybe.

    This morning I hear hubby catching Erik sneaking things into his backpack. Pop and Candy. He says, where didy ou get that..It's mine....so busted!!! I now know he lied about going bowling and took all the money and spent it at the church vending machine. he had numerous pops and candy. Plus he was senaking his CD player into the back, after last night we read the rules of camp and it said NO CD PLAYERS.

    Needless to say middle son is in big trouble. He lies all the time and his dad is so upset with him I doubt he will be allowed to go to the block party. As for his candy and Pop, it was put in a bag and put in the garbage. The garbage man is coming down the street now to take it away.

    It never pays to cheat and lie.

  • Cranky Ostara.......GRRR...I have a fairly major asthma attack today. I leave work early as I need to come home and neb, etc. I am not feeling well at all. I neb and then sleep for a bit. Hubby in the mean time comes home and takes him normal nap after work. The baby is running around yelling so of course I get up. Do you think my hubby could start supper or even think of taking care of the kids. NOPe....his comment, "well how long were you going to sleeP???" I don't know I had a major asthma attack, so it interferred with your nap, dear.

    So I make supper and put away supper, etc. I amke Erik's bag lunch for day camp. get food marinading for tomorrow supper, etc. I do the dishes and get the baby ready for bed and into bed. I am pissy about doing all this as I would think if I am under the weather someone would help out a bit. but unfortunately my families idea of helping out is saying, "you don't have to do that tonight" , which only mean you can do it tomorrow!!!!

  • WisconsinMOM....don't worry my house isn't sparklin,  It certainly has the lived in look, but it is presentable enough that if anyone ever stops by I would let them into the house.  My secret weapon is............Flylady.net.  I am a flybaby.  I of course fall off the wagon periodically and don't often do my zones, but the routines are a life saver for me!

  • The RSVP's for the block party are still trickling in. Officially we have 89 people who have paid and RSVP. The real work begins on Friday and Saturday. WOW will we be busy. I took Friday off of work. I sure hope the weather cooperates.

    Last night I got most of my chores done, except vacumming, Tommy was asleep by the time I wanted to Vacuum and I didn't want to wake him up. He loves to help me vacuum so we will do that tonight.

    Two more days of work....

    TUESDAY TO DO:
    * Vacuum
    * Wipe Down Kitchen Counter
    * Clean out from Under the Sink
    * Tommy's Closet

  • We had a nice relaxing weekend for the most part.  On Saturday my SIL came over and I made ribs in the pressure cooker.  SUnday we went to church and came home for Tommy's nap. After his nap we went to Sam's club and stocked up on things.  ARGH...that was a big bill as always.

    It is monday....I never am too pumped about Mondays!   I left the TO DO LIST for Hubby and the boys to do while I am gone at work.  I have not been doing well with getting my cleaning all done on Mondays.  I tend to drag a few things through the entire week.  I can't do that today!!!  Too many things to do!!

    My work week looks pretty mellow this week.  I am taking THursday and Friday off.  Thursday I am driving to Hutchinson to pick up my mother as my dad is driving her 1/2 way here.  She will be staying with us all next week as my day care provider is on vacation.  It will be nice to have my mom with us for a while.  Tommy doesn't know  her very well since he wasn't raised in her house like Josh was.  Friday I am taking the day off to get things done for the block party.  I will be purchasing all the food and cashing the RSVP checks.   I hope this all turns out ok.

    Saturday is the block party.  About 100 people trampling my lawn...LOL!!!  I am looking forward to it, but also looking forward to it being done.  We are still waiting for finally approval from the police and fire department to block off the street.  Seems like that is fine, now we just have to figure out if they are delivering the barricades or not.

    MONDAY TO DO:

    • Change Sheets

    • Dust & Vacuum

    • Sweep & Mop

    • Mirrors & Doors

    • Tommy's Closet
