Month: September 2003

  • I left work last night around 7:30pm.  I was the last car in the parking lot.  Not unusual for a Monday.   Once I got home we went to Sears as they are having an appliance sale and we wanted to get the matching dryer to go with our new washer.   The matching one was sold out.....ARGH!!!  it was suppose to be 499.99 so they substituted a model two levels higher for the same price.  Good deal.  So that dryer was suppose to be 649.00 and I was able to have it for 499.99.  It will be delivered sometime next week, hopefully.   We have to have a plumber some and unhook and rehook up the gas for the dryer.  So looks like I will have to work from home for a few days next week.  ARGH...oh well, that isn't so bad.  I have a few things to get done.

Did any of you watch Trading Spaces, They hated it, last night?  It is always fun when they hate it.   Luckily I had it taped so I could forward to the end to see them hate it!   Hubby was busy working on the program for the Prayer COnference at church.  It is a huge print job!

I was so tired by the time I got home, so I didn't really get much done.  Tonight I will need to try and get home a bit earlier so I can scrub floors and do dishes.  Hope everyone is having a great day!

  • MONDAY!!!  Trying to be excited, I hate Mondays.  But it all a state of miind right???  Tommy had school this morning, but hubby didn't go with so I had to take him to daycare after school as well.  So of course I am still at work now as I work late on Mondays to make up for coming in late.   But it is quiet in here and you can get a lot done when everyone is gone.

I hate to even watch the news lately.  I am disturbed by the stories.  There was a school shooting in Cold Springs, MN which is right out of St. Cloud.   What strikes me as so odd about it, my parents were upset I moved to the cities and this shooting is far closer to where I used to live.  I actually went to college in St . Cloud.  There have not been any school shooting in the city.  There is more security and police in the schools.  I want my kids to be safe.   The shooter was actually the son of a police officer.  It is sad, one senior was killed and a freshman critically wounded.  I need to send my kids to school, you jsut want them to be safe.

Then today as I am driving to my job at the third largest government center in Minnesota, I hear on the radio that there was a shooting at the Hennepin government center.  Hennepin is the largest county in MN, it is comprised of Minneapolis and surrounding area.   Granted I don't work for Hennepin County, nor would I ever want to, but this is a bit close too home for me.  The shooting was in the court system, (where there are police deputies all the time).   I regularly appear in court in our county for various reasons, Out of Home placements, guardianships, etc.   I am sure the security in our county and others will be getting tighter.  That is fine with me, I want to be safe too!   But then again I have never received a threat since working in the cities.   I actually had the police contact me when I worked out in the rural area as a client of mine was unhappy with me and was threating to kill me.   He was not any kind of threat, but a developmentally delayed old grouch that didn't know any better.   But it is a crime to threaten a government employee providing services.  He was mad at me because I told him I would not pay for damages he caused when he urinated all over a wall in a public restroom in a store.  He did it because he was mad at the store.

I jsut find this all a sad commentary on our world today.   Yes, there is a conceal and carry law, which allows guns, but not in gov. places and many, many other places.  I don't know that the law has really changed much.  You will never find a gun of any kind in my house.  Children are too impulsive as are some adults.   There were bullies when I was a kid too, but I never ever crossed my mind to shoot them.   Egg there house, maybe........

Well I best get back to work.  I have a couple more hours to work until time to go home.   Hope everyone is having a nice, safe Monday!

  • I am back to my regular life again. I seem to be feeling better, yeah!!! Friday I was back at work for the entire day. It was my day to pick up Tommy so I left about 15 minutes early to make it to daycare.

Then it was home to figure out something for supper! We decided to have McDonalds since I didn't have anything ready. Firday night was pretty busy. Julie came over and we went through the bins of clothes for Erik and Tommy to get some winter clothes out. I can't find any of Erik's sixe 8 pants to give to julie for Nick. I can't figure out where they could have gone. So Paul watched all the kids while Julie and I went through clothes! WOW, do my kids have a lot of nice clothes that my hubby picked up for them at garage sales.

Today, Saturday we slept in a bit. We were all ready to go to the library by 10:00 and were home by 11:00. Then it was a quick lunch as Julies BIL's wanted me to read over some legal things for him. Then the boys and I went to do a Sam's club run. Tommy got a huge cookie and ate it all. He was suppose to share with Erik. That didn't happen.

Once home Tommy and I washed the dishes and then daddy was home. Daddy wanted to take a little nap so Tommy and I went to get the weeks groceries and food for the party tomorrow!

Tonight hubby bathed Tommy for me and I started on the food for tomorrow. We are having all our family over to celebrate Erik's birthday and watch football. Tonight I baked Erik's cake, made a cheese cake and made potato salad.

Tomorrow after church all I need to do is make the sub sandwiches and frost the cake. I best head to bed, it is becoming a busy weekend! later!

My oldest son sure makes me smile. Josh and Erik have been down stairs together building with legos for quite a while. It is so wonderful that Josh will spend thins time with Erik. I hope it will make a difference in Erik's life to hang out with an older kid that is so mature and responsible. Josh is a good kid, a great role model for Erik.

  • Well I am home sick today. Argh...I woke up in the middle of the night very sick with a upset stomach. I helped hubby get Tommy ready for daycare then I went back to bed. I slept until 11:00. But I don't really feel any better since I am up. ARGH!!!

I only woke up because some guys were ringing our door bell. I looked out the window there were three men in suits handing out pamphlets. I was still in my pj's so I didn't answer the door. But then I was awake for the day.

I still have such a headache and stomach ache. ARGH!!

Well hubby was upset last night, he got another letter from his ex about problems with Erik. My hubby doesn't handle that well and gets very upset. I feel for him, but all his talking to me about it isn't going to help. I told him, I'm not the one to talk to about your concerns. Not that I am not supportive, but I can't do anything about it.

Tonight two ladies from church are coming over to work on the booklets for Prayer Conference with Paul. I suppose that means I should get showered, dressed and clean up a bit around here before I take a nap.

Hope you are all having a great day! Later!

  • AAAAH....I am tired!! I came home from work early today for two reasons. One I had a headache and two, I needed to get some things done around the house. I did accomplish quite a bit!

Tomorrow I am at a training all day from 8-4:30, it is a training on working with Hmong families. Should be interesting, I hope. Exciting News today!! ANother SW and I share a case as she works with the mom in the house and I the kids. We looked into getting a Habitate for Humanity House for them. We will be waiting for the finally approval, but look forward to getting this set up and having a home for this very vulnerable family. I look forward to working on the house. My oldest Josh will be helping too. Many of my co-workers have already volunteered there time as well. It will be very exciting!

Tomorrow night is Families First. Time for me to head to bed........later!

  • Tommy had school this morning. We had fun. he enjoyed playing with the water table and he painted. He really shared much better with the other children today.

Then it was off to work. I completed a few things at work and headed out to a homevisit about an hour away from my office. ARGH......long trip. I didn't get home until late tonight, but that is usual for Monday's.

Time to call it a night. Think I will be saving my chores until tomorrow night! Later!

  • About time to head to bed....AAAAH....I changed the bed sheet sso I love crawling into a bed with nice clean sheets...AAAH....makes me want to get to bed eaarly!

I got quite a bit done today, but have alot to do yet. Things have gotten so cluttered over the summer! I have many more rooms to go through. The only one really done is the luandry room.

I have about three loads of laundry left to do. Then I am all done. I will need to get back into the routine of doing a load every day. Since we were gone every night last week, I didn't do much.

Time so bed and I am back on the wagon with my routines. The dishes are done, clothes laid out, bags ready, lunches ready and I am leaving supper up to my hubby tomorrow as he is off and I am working late. I always work late on Mondays since I go in late after Tommy's school.

We had to run to Target tonight to get some things for Tommys school. I hope to be able to take a day off this week and get caught up around here before the weekend. We will see if that will happen. I have a lot to do at work as well.

    NIght!! Have a great week!

  • the Ironing is done!! I never iron, but with my hubby now working, his shirts need ironing. I have a load of work clothes in the dryer. I am hoping if I take them out and hang them up right away I won't have much more ironing.

I need to find 5 outfits with pants for Tommy for the week. We still have our summer clothes out. I need to find some for myself as well. ARGH!!

Hubby just hung up the wedding sampler my mother made us. It looks very nice. I got a candle holder vine that is below it. I jsut have to buy some candles, yet. It looks nice! I bought it at Pier One, I guess I will have to go back. DARN!!

Well Tommy is making noise, so I guess he is done with his nap. Tomorrow he has school in the morning. So I get to sleep in a bit.
