  • I was not a good girl last night. I went to bed early, but stayed p to finish my book. ARGH!! So of course I am tired this morning. But now I can't start Da Vinci Code as soon as it come in the mail. I think this Thursday is my book group too. It is a week early due to Thanks giving and I even have the book done. I will need to look over the discussion questions too!

Well I must go shower and head to work. I have meetings all day today. Tomorrow is a gov. holiday so I am off and everyone else is gone. YEAH! Well time to hit the shower.

Since i am on the road a lot to day I will get to listen to my books on tape today. YEAH!!! Life is good.

  • Well I am off to curl up with my book and my electric blanket. I want to finish my book tonight, but my smarty son (josh) says I will read only one page and fall asleep. Hmmm...he does know his Mom pretty well. I want to finish this book as I just ordered Da Vinci Code from AMazon and want to start reading it as soon as it comes.

  • The weekend is coming to an end. I still have a lot I would like to complete. Yesterday was pretty good. The Salsbury steack turned out ok and I made two extra meals of it. One for us sometime next week and one for in-laws. Joshua went to the Sadie Hawkins dance with a girl...LOL!! WOw. Actually that is the dance where the girl has to ask you out. Josh is pretty shy so I didn't think he would ever ask a girl out. ON Friday night the Amanda and Josh went with Amanda's Dad to buy matching shirts for the dance. Amanda's dad picked them up on Saturday night and brought them home. Josh had alot of fun it seems. I took there picture before they left so I will share that later. DOn't tell Josh but I thought they looked cute together. It was weird to see though. My baby is growing up. He was a gentleman as always and paid for both of threir shirts and part of the professional pictures.

Tommy again had a BM after going to bed and I have to wake him up and change him. ARGH....then he is all freaked out. I need to get that changed. He ended up in bed with again in the middle of the night, so I didn't sleep very well.

But most of us did manage to get up and get to church minus Josh. He said he was going to the later services, but when I called him he was still in bed. I wasn't too happy about that.

I just woke up from a nap and need to get a few things done. Later!

    RESPONSES TO COMMENTS:

MidwestBlahs - Hello - Actually I recently joined the Hearts Home group. My real name is Janeen so that is the name I use on there. My family and friends have called me Jen or Jenny all my life though. So the Janeen on there ....is me - I am enjoying the groups so far.

Jills_Cookbook - I usually find most things cheaper at Sam's unless there is a sale at the regular grocery store. I mostly buy staples, paper products, computer ink and stuff there. I buy the Sam's Club brand of diapers, which are the cheapest we have found. They are called Smiles. I often cook in bulk so it is easier to buy the stuff at Sam's.

  • Well I am done with my nap that never occurred. Argh...kids coming in and out and BIL coming over to use the printer. So I got up and got started on my chores. I can always go to bed early tonight, much easier than taking a nap. I have taken my hubby's summer clothes out of the drawers and replaced them with his new winter clothes we bought the other night. I think he needs to go through and throw somethings out. But it is hard to get him to do that. He will wear it until it falls off his body and slowly disappears (wife finally throws it)!

I am off to cut up some things for supper. I make a large batch of salbury steak. I suppose I should make my menu and grocery list so I can get groceries tonight. Hmmm....yea, I guess that should take priority. later!!! I might post my menu later if I remember!

  • Gee I feel like I want to share every email today...LOL!!! This is from Today's Christiam Woman - Jan/February -2001 I utilize most of these strategies already, but nice to review them.

    Try these six time-stretching strategies

    How to Do (Almost) Everything

The perfectly organized day had just begun. The night before, I'd made school lunches, signed urgent notes, and had the kids stack their backpacks by the door. I'd risen early enough to transform myself from bedhead to beauty, greet the sunrise and the Lord, pry sleepyheads from their blanketed cocoons, and keep life moving toward that 7:30 a.m. exodus. I felt as though I'd accomplished it all.

As I stood, coat on, examining the day's "to-do" list, my daughter asked sweetly, "Mom, how come you're wearing two different shoes?"

Peering down, I realized my left shoe had a turquoise whoosh and the right shoe sported a hot-pink lightning symbol.

So much for being the woman in total control! Sometimes I identify with Job, that Old Testament sufferer who moaned, "My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle" (Job 7:6). Somehow I have to find the time to take care of my sandwich-generation family (two busy athletic/musical teens, one semi-retired husband, and an 80-year-old mother-in-law living next door), plus work and volunteer in several church ministries.

I don't pretend to be the woman who does it all. But I've learned I can make my limited time count with these six time-stretching principles:

    1. List it. How to Get Control of Your Time and Your Life author Alan Lakein suggests dividing our "to-do" lists into three levels. "A" things yield the most value for our time. "B" activities are "maybes." "C" items can wait.

The other day, buying milk was an "A" for me because we were out and my son guzzles nearly a gallon a day. A "B" priority was planning my daughter's month-away 16th birthday (though that's an "A" in her mind!). Steam-cleaning the rug was a "C," but will move up to an "A" when warm weather returns.

    2. Anticipate it. We hung a large calendar near the main house phone—the nerve center of our home. Whenever a family member mentions an upcoming commitment, I make sure the event (and if possible, a related phone number) gets on this calendar. Handouts with detailed information (such as concert schedules, sports trips, and youth-group retreats) go in a clip right next to the calendar. That way, I'm not caught brownieless the morning of a bake sale.

    3. Delegate it. When I can't—or don't want to!—do a job, I see if I can get help. Someone else doing the dinner dishes saves me 30 minutes. I also delegate jobs to machines. The crockpot saves time and dirty dishes on hurried nights. The answering machine cuts down on chit-chat, enabling me to respond at my convenience to requests that aren't "A" priorities.

    4. Multi-task it. When we're focused, we women can stack "brainer" and "no-brainer" tasks easily. For example, my cordless phone allows me to bake cookies, file off a ragged nail, or fold laundry while I take care of a caller. I consolidate a dozen errands in one fell swoop through town. Or I put "to-do" items (return library books, recycle cans) in the trunk to catch when I'm in the area.

    5. Simplify it. I've found that something done at 80 percent is better than something waiting to be started. When I write thank-you notes or letters, I don't try to earn a Pulitzer Prize. My handwriting may be scrawly, but at least I show appreciation or keep in touch.

    6. Energize it. It's also helpful to know your "prime time," that time of day when you have the most energy and brainpower, and "grind time," when you can handle busy work but not much mental stress. We also need "unwind time," when we relax to re-energize.

My body chemistry peaks in the morning, so I use that for my most important "think" tasks. I reach my desperate low about 2 p.m. That's the time I take a walk or fold the laundry. Or, if I can, I sneak in a 20-minute "power nap."

The other morning, my teens and I were again in a hurry to get them to school. (This time my shoes matched!) "I need poster board for a class project tomorrow," my daughter remarked from the back seat.

"Write it on my to-do list," I said, handing her the day planner I keep in my purse. An hour later, having picked up her poster board while on another "A" errand, I walked into her room to lay it on her unmade bed.

What was the best use of my time right then? Well, it was a perfect day to spend three minutes helping her out by making her bed. After all, she's the perfect candidate to whom I can delegate my "C" job of dejunking the car!

  • This came through on a list I am on.....so true...

    (author unknown)

Some houses try to hid the fact that children shelter there.
Ours boats of it quite openly, the signs are all there.
For smears are on the windows, little smudges on the door.
I should apologize for the toys strewn on the floor.
But I sat down with the children and we laughed and played and read.
And if the doorknob doesn't shine, their eyes will shine instead.
For when at times I'm forced to choose, the one job or the other.
I'd like to be a good housekeeper, but first I'll be a mother.

  • Hello..YEAH..it is Saturday. We are back from our morning errands. We went to the bank, library and grocery store. ALl three boys went with me, Josh needed to work on driving of course. Then it was home for a quick lunch. Now Tommy is down for a nap, (though not sleeping yet), Erik is playing at a friends, Josh is having a friend over and they are gonna figure out something to do. Me.....I am going to spend a few quiet moments reading my book and hopefully getting a little nap. YEAH!!

I have to reorganize mine and hubby's clothes when I get up. I need to get rid of stuff we don't wear and send to good will. Tonight for supper....we are having Salsbury Steak for the new OAMC site I found. I am making a quadruple recipe. SOme to freeze and some to take over to my in-laws.

    Ok...off to read/nap. Later!~

  • Hello - It is morning. Argh...but at least it is Friday! I hate to crawl out of my nice warm bed into my cold house. That is the worse thing about winter. I have chicken thawing while I get ready for work for supper tonight. I think we will be having Parmesan Chicken Breasts. I ahve to locate my recipe of course. ARGH...I thought I had this on my website, but no such luck. Oh Well.

I found a great OAMC cooking website. I hope to get some major cooking done in the near future. We will see! Check it out......

Well off to shower and head to work. Have a great day!

  • I think I had a pretty productive day today. Work went fine, I got my desk pretty much cleared off, with a small to do pile to take care of in the morning. I went out on a homevisit, but the family must have forgotten. So that wasted a bit of my time, but I did get to listen to my book on tape a bit extra so that is a bonus.

I came home to make a quick supper than it was off to Sam's Club!! OH MY, did I end up spending some money there. They had Levi's on sale for hubby for 22.00 a real good price, so I bought him three pairs and a number of sweatshirts and long sleeve shirts for work. He was in need of clothes badly. We also had to buy black and color ink for the printers. We were all out after the huge print hubby did for the prayer conference. We should get reimbursed for that though. Then the rest was jsut household stuff, laundry deteregent, diapers, etc.

Once home hubby put all the stuff away with help for our oldest boy. I gave Tommy a bath and cleaned the bathroom. I figure it is always a great time to clean the bathroom since I have to be in there supervising Tom anyways. Time to finish the rest of my list. Little tommy didn't go to bed very well tonight, he climbed over the gate and out his room numerous times.

I am so happy I actually got my list all done. My hubby was wonderful and did the laundry for me. I didn't even ask him to. That is always such a blessing.

    TO DO TONIGHT:
    DO REBATES
    Locate my winter gloves....BRRRRR
    Laundry
    (hubby did for me...YEAH)
    DIshes
    Sam's Club Run
    Pay Bills

Well I am off to review my voice mail log for work. I think I have a few more people to call tomorrow. Then it is bedtime.......Night!! Have a great Friday!!!
