Month: December 2003

  • Tommy is still napping, I have all my jars of Hot Cocoa all mixed up and decorated. I have three batches of cookie dough in the fridge. They will be ready to bake in one hour or so. I might go and start on Josh's blanket for a bit since Tommy is still sleeping. I do have a little bit of dishes to wash from making cookies as well.

My day seems to be on schedule .............YEAH!! I hope I am able to accomplish all I want. Later!!! back to work!

  • Tommy is finally down for his nap. I have made two more batches of Hot Cocoa Mix, but now have ran out of powdered milk. Next I will wash up the dishes and start on my cookies for the Cookie Exchange. I am making ANdes Creme De Menthe Cookies.

    ANDES CRÈME DE MENTHE COOKIES
½ cup salted butter – softened
    ¾ cup dark brown sugar
    ½ cup white granulated sugar
    1 tsp. Baking soda
    1 tsp. Baking powder
    2 tsp. Vanilla extract
    2 eggs
1 package (10 oz.) Andes Baking Chips
    2-2/3 cups sifted all-purpose flour

Blend butter, sugars, baking soda, baking powder, vanilla and eggs until mixed. Stir in Andes Baking Chips and then flour. Chill for approximately 1 hour in the refrigerator. Measure out approximately 1 oz of dough – for ball and slightly flatten. Raise oven rack one level about middle and bake on non-stick baking pans. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 8 -10 minutes. Cool on pans for 2 minutes before removing. Makes about 3 -1/2 dozen cookies.

    Made for Cookie Exchange 2003

  • OK we are home! Joshua has left to go to this Dad's for the weekend. Tommy has had lunch and I am ready to put him down for a nap. He actaully made it to all the stores without falling asleep.

First we went to the grocery store........then library and post office. Then to Walmart to buy some material for christmas gifts and socks for Tommy. His socks were getting too little and he needs some big socks to keep warm in this MN weather. My boys has some big feet!

Next I am off to clean up the kitchen and start baking. I have three batches of cookies to make for the cookie exchange on Monday. I received many Christmas cards and a surprise gift. WOW...my friends are so amazing. I need to sit down and right her a letter. I have been terrible about writing and I never talk on the phone either. As always I need to take steps to continue my wonderful friendships.

Off to put Tommy to bed.......and get busy!

  • ANother busy day, I will need to skip my nap today as I have so much to do. Tommy's nap time will be a perfect time to bake cookies for my cookie exchnge on Monday. I will probably check in periodically through out the day, but will be busy.

Here's my list for the day, then it is off to shower and get to the store!

  • Busy, Busy weekend ahead..... I have much I need to accomplish. I have made a to do list for each day this weekend. Tonight I purchased the items to make hot cocoa and made some gift jars of cocoa. They turned out very cute! My hubby and I even designed a label.

Saturday - I need to buy the things for making cookies. Monday is my annual cookie exchange at our home. My friends will be over for the evening, always a great time. I made gift jars for each of my friends. I also plan on making banana bread in the afternoon. In the evening I hope to work on the Twice as Warm Blanket I am making for Josh for Christmas. Today my hubby let me buy an electric scissors, which will make cutting this blanket a breeze. I used it to night to make the covers for the gift jars. WAY FUN to USE!!! Now maybe i will be faster at the blankets. I have two to make for Christmas and two babies coming in the very near future. So I will be a cutting..... I also have to make a few Lambs for the baptisms at church.

Sunday, I hope to wrap all our presents and take an inventory. I think I am almost done, except for a bit more for Paul, and Emma. But I do have plenty of wrapping to do!! I am going to package up the gifts for SD and mail them off. I won't be home for Christmas, but want everyone to have their gifts, especially Dawn and the kids.

What else is new............hmm....Love our new fridge!! I can even open the doors all the way. Work is crazy. I met a new client, a little boy that insisted on showing me his pet snake. ARGH!!! I was walking up the steps into the house and I look up and a snake is dangling in my face! ARGH!!! That really caught me off guard!

I am maintaining but not losing any additional weight. I know the reason is I forget to eat. My metabolism will go into starvation mode very easily. Yesterday I didn't eat at all until almost 3:00 for the first time that day. I know when I eat 6 meals a day I lose weight!! I jsut have to really work at it to eat that much food. I hope to do better in the coming days. As long as I maintain my loss over the holidays, I really don't care! I have 2.5 more pounds to go to my next reward. My reward was going to be tanning sessions, but I think I might get my eye brows professionally done. I have never done that, might be fun! Or maybe tanning sessions!

I have a feeling my Christmas cards are going to end up being new Years cards. I need to find times next week to get those done!

It is way past my bedtime, so I best get to sleep. Flylady would not approve of how late I am up tonight!

  • CLoudi -

Click on the word website on the previous entry it will bring you to my personal website, which is where my blinking house is!

  • Hello - well I have been busy today.  Got our new fridge delivered and stuff.  I updated my blog and website for Christmas.  Take a look see and get in the Christmas Spirit!

Don't you just love the blinking lights on the house.  I am always looking for graphics of houses for my enter page.  This is one of my favorites!

  • Snowy day in Minnesota, but the drive to work was ok.  I now have 4 wheel drive which makes it easy to drive in this yuck!  The funny this is I have to take 1/2 a day off of work today, just to get groceries and run errands.   It is pathetic!!  We have no milk, lunch meat, cheese, bread or fresh fruit and veggies in the house.  I must get food today!!

So I figure I will make some treats for my secret Santa today.  I figure I will make some monkey bread and banana bread to continue my jungle/ monkey business theme.  She actually has two pet monkeys.  Next week we will end the monkey business and dedicate a day or two to her dogs...she trains those too.  I will make Puppy Chow for that week.   The last day I will give some human treats...and the final gift will have to be a stuffed monkey...as they are the king of the jungle!

Well off to do some needed paperwork then head home and get groceries and bake.  Later!

  • We make our own hot cocoa mix each year. My children prefer it and it is less expensive in the long run. This year I am making an extra
batch to put in jars and give as gifts. Thought I would share my
recipe and idea! My mom made this when I was a child....aaah...it makes about an ice cream bucket worth of mix!

    Mom's Hot Cocoa Mix

    8 cups powdered milk
    1 lb.Nestles Nesquik
    1 cup powdered sugar
    8 ozs. Creamora

Mix all together. Put in a large container. Use ½ cup of mix add hot water to make one glass of hot cocoa

  • Sears pictures story.....nothing is every easy around the holidays!  I had our family pictures taken a bit later than usual this year.  never again!!   Our appointment was for 3:45.  We arrived at the Sears Portrait Studio about 3:50 and they said it would be at least an hour wait.  So we head back home for a while.  We return to the studio at 4:45 and are told it will be about 15 minutes, so we wait.   It isn't like we could reschedule, since we only have Erik with us everyother weekend.   That 15 minutes wait really was about another hour.   But the kids actually waited very nicely, even Tommy.  The pictures went pretty good too.   I am going to try to post the proofs from the Sears website, but not sure how it will work.  Here goes nothing.......
