Month: February 2004

  • Tommy was up in the middle of the night again last night.   I am so tired.  It snowed and stuff last night so I decided to skip rush hour this morning and am working from home this morning.   I have about a month of contats to enter into my work laptop.  While doing that I will also work on laundry.  I would love to not have any to do this weekend, but that is doubtful.  I will take an hour break and clean up the kitchen and dining room.

I am off to get my day going.  Later!!!  I do have a 2:30 appointment in Lakeville for work until then I will be home.

  • Pancake Mix.........

This is from Miserly Moms and I made it the other night and it waswell received.

    PANCAKES

    2 eggs
2-1/2 Cup Buttermilk or sour milk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2-1/2 Cup Flour
    2 Tsp. Sugar
4Tsp. Melted Butter or Vegetable Oil
    3 Tsp. Baking Powder
    1 Tsp. Salt
    1/2 Tsp. Vanilla

Beat together until smooth.  Spoon on ungreased hot griddle.  Flip over when bubbles appear.

  • Home from work, waiting for Josh to get home from school.  Then we will head to my office to get his passport.  We just got the draft of our wills in the mail today.  ARGH!!  That is a bit of reading.  I think I see one error already, I think that listed the wrong guardian as far as who we want caring for our minor children in the event of our death.  I will call them to confirm before we sign the original in March.   It is alot to read and I have to read it very slowly as it is very legal.  ARGH!!  Hard to understand.

I suppose I should go do a few chore while I wait for Josh to get home from school or maybe take a little nap???

  • I stopped at the Passport office at my work (perk about working ina gov. building).  They informed me that since Josh was over 14 I didn't have to have his father present to obtain a passport!  YEAH!!  His father hasn't seen Josh in 6 years and I am not sure I could have gotten him to come into the city.  I did mail Josh's dad the forms for permission to cross the border with the Youth Group.   He will complete those and mail them back.   He told me he would.

I am leaving work at 2:00 to pick up Josh and bring him back here to get his passport.  It costs 115.00 to get a passport.  WOW!!  I wish I knew when child support would come.   I have to pay for the passport and the trip and haven't received any child support yet this month.   It should come soon.

That is about it for now.  I have to get some more work done before I leave to get Josh.

  • I was trying to catch up on my SIR but  I am so tired.  So I guess I better post and head to bed.  YAWN!   Busy day...I left work a bit early and picked up Tom.  I called Josh and had him heat up the soup for supper and bake the biscuits.   It is great to have a responsible son that I can call and have start supper.   I got home, dished up Tom's food and had Josh sit and eat with him.  I layed down on the couch and took a 15 minute nap before church.   I really needed that more than eating!

Class was good at Families First.  We discussed birth order and its effect on use and our children.  It was very interesting.   AfterFamilies First we had a mandatory meeting for Josh's mission trip.   I have alot to do to get him ready for his trip.  They would like him to have a passport.  I will have to check into this tomorrow.  It is a a bit tricky since his father lives in a different town and doesn't visit him.  He have to have him sign stuff for the trip, etc.  His father did say he would sign whatever was needed, etc.  I just have to find out what is needed for the passport.

So the details of the trip are out.  Josh will be in Juarez, Mexico the week of June 19th.   He will be doing a couple of things while there.  He will be doing Habitiat for Humanity sort of building and painting of houses.  He also will be working with the children in an afternoon program called, Kids Club.   I am very excited for him as I think this will be a life changing trip for him.  Juarez is a large city of about 2 million people, the average weekly income is about 40-50 a week.  The area is very poor but rich in their faith and love of God.     I really am glad my son is able to have these experiences in his life.  His faith is very stong.   He makes me very proud of the young man he is becoming.  I am even beginning to like his Christian Rock.  LOL!!  I love mainstream and alternative Rock, but Josh really enjoys Christian Rock.  He frequently reads his bible.   He has a bible that looks like it is well read and carries it with him in his backpack.  I wish I could have said that at his age.  I didn't return to my faith until I was an adult.

Tomorrow I will head to the passport office to find out what I need from Josh's father to get his passport.   I am afraid this is going to be difficult.   ARGH!!!

I have many comments to respond too, but am falling alseep.   Night all!!  Maybe I can type more tomorrow!  Later!

  • Past my bedtime, but here I am.  I will never learn.  It is just so nice and quiet and I have a bit of time to myself.  I hate to waste it by sleeping.   Tommy is sleeping in his bed at the moment and hopefully he will stay there all night.

I have had a busy evening.   I got home a bit early as one of my homevisits cancelled on me the last minute.  So I decided to go home and do an hour of chores before I picked up Tommy at daycare.   Plus Josh was home sick and I wanted to check on him.   I got home and Josh had gotten bored and he had cleaned the living room and vacuumed and swiffered!  Yeah!!  Part of my weekly cleaning done for me.   I did the dishes and mopped the kitchen and bathroom.   I also got some more laundry done.  My goal this week is to be caught up on laundry by this weekend so I don't have to do any over the weekend.

My menu didn't turn out so well.  I was sure I had a turkey loaf left over in the freezer, but couldn't find it.  So I made pancakes (Miserly Moms recipe) and bacon.    We liked the pancake recipe so I might make another batch this weekend to freeze.  We will see.   I have some Texas Toast to make French Toast with and freeze as well.  Then I did dishes again and more laundry.

I also wrote out the invitations for my Pampered Chef party.  I would really like to have about 10 people come.   We will see.   There are a number of items I want to order.  They have some cool new items.  I already own alot of their products, but I am so happy with them.

I should be heading to bed here.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Our Wednesday looks very busy.   I am working of course, my last homevisit tomorrow is at 2:30, then I will pick up Tom.  We will rush home to have supper and head to church.  After our class is done we have a meeting about Josh's mission trip to Mexico to attned at 8:05.  Hard to believe that is coming up so quickly.

    Good Night..................................

  • Check Out WisconsinMomof2's Grocery Budget Tips.   They are fabulous.  She also posted Menu Planning tips last week which are very helpful.

  • Just finishing up my lunch at work.....then I have some paperwork to do and will be heading out for homevisits.   Tonight there will be no working on the basement.  I need to get caught up on dishes and laundry.   Josh is home sick today as well.

I hope to begin working on my price book tonight as well.   I have to get my cleaning done tonight as well.

  • Pretty good day.  After groceries, hubby and I stopped at my office so he could carry up a flat of water for me.  Good thing i have 24-hour access to the building, comes in handy.  Then we went to the attorney's office.  We get there and the suite I have written down has a different lawyers name outside....OOPS.  They had moved their offices.   So we call them and head to the correct office.  Luckily it was pretty close.

We have discussed our wishes with the attorney and he is drawning up our will and trust for us.  He will mail it to us to review and then we will be meeting with him again in March.  I am happy with his suggestions and I am very glad we also were able to get the trust drawn up as well.   It is a good feeling to have this taken care of.

Joshua stayed home and did the dishes for me.  He also found a memory stick for my camera on sale.  It is 256mg (i think) and after rebates will only cost 49.99.  A very good deal.  Hubby spent the day transferring my files to my new laptop.  The new camera stick goes right into the computer too, so that is helpful.

I did manage to get a few loads of laundry done and now I think I will head to bed.  OH, yeah and I watched Under the Tuscan Sun.  I really liked this movie.  I could just relate to her discovering herself and her life again.

Hope you all had a great day!!

Random discussions with a 2 year old.................

Me:  Tommy please use your fork.
    T:  No...
M:Tommy we use forks to eat.
    T:  I use hands.
M: Mommy wants you to use a fork.
T: I use hands (holds up his messy little hands)
So I takes his plate away and tell him he has to use his fork.
M:  Mommy will give your plate but you have to eat with a fork.
Are you going to use a fork?
    T: No hands.
M: then no plate.  Will you use a fork?
T (nods head yes, he picks up the fork and holds it in one hand and eats with his other hand)   He just smiles...........

    I give up!

You got to love that little cutie!!  He makes us smile everyday.   I could not imagine my life without him.  Though he sure does wear me out!  He is a handful, but my handful.

He was just wimpering in his sleep.  I went in and held him until he fell back to sleep.  He finished wimpering and went back to sleep.  What an amazing feeling to know I can comfort him so.  No such thing as a monster when mommy is there.  I hope my nearness will alway comfort him in his life.
