Month: February 2004

  • Well end of my day...yeah.   Time to run and pick up Tommy, get a quick supper and head to church.   It is such a rush on church night.   Tomorrow is retreat day for my unit at work.  We are out of the office all day and working on yearly goals and distribution of work.  Not much to distriubute this year as we are all very over worked and have too many cases.  With the budget cuts we won't be able to hire new staff for a bit so we will conitnue to have higher and higher case loads.  SO far I am keeping up, but it is getting harder and harder.  At least my employer recognizes my hard work and rewards me appropriately.

I made an appointment with an electrician today to get an estimate on some work to be done around our home.  I doubt I will be able to afford all the jobs, but maybe a few of the more pressing ones.

  • Well I am getting used to new computer at work.  It is great!  It has a much larger screen.  I have a laptop so that I can work from home, clients homes or whereever.  Very nice.  So I now have a new Dell Latitude D800.   Hubby will be so jealous.  My employer is great about keeping me in a new machine.  I think this is my fourth or fifth laptop since I have worked here.  I will have been here for 7 years in August.

I didn't quite get my hard drive all cleaned off, but will work on it some more.  Well time to get back to work.  Later!

  • Pretty uneventful evening...don't tell Josh I didn't work in the basement.  Once home I made supper and Josh went to a surprise birthday party for a friend at Lava Links.  Tommy and I unpacked our humdifier filters and Suze Orman library that came in the mail today.  I am very excited to read the SUze Orman book on Wills and Trusts...

I decided to take a bath to warm up, still cold in MN.  My little man decided he had to take a bath!!  He wants to take a bath each night now since we play snow!  I am glad i have so much shaving cream to use up.  He did go to bed pretty good tonight.  He was quiet and asleep by about 9:30.  We are working on going to bed earlier and earlier.

I did dishes and a couple of loads of laundry.  I watched Law and Order with hubby while I folded!  I am excited, I just got an email from the library that the Fourth season of Sex in the Cities is in for me to pick up.  YOu know what I will be doing all weekend!!  YEAH!!!!  Hubby will love that.......poor guy.  Doubt I will be much done this weekend.

Tomorrow is church night.   I have an early meeting got to head to bed.  Later!

  • Up too late again tonight.  Once Tommy was in bed I wanted to work on the basement a bit again.  I am doing a clean sweep!!  Do you watch that show??  I love it!   I had a corner that was piled very high with bins of clothes and toys hubby bought for Tommy while I was pregnant and his first year.   I hubby was so excited about Tommy coming he went a bit nuts.  He bought everything at garage sales.  I have clothes for Tommy through size 5.   LOL!!   But it was overwhelming to me.  I have now entirely emptied that corner and put up two shelves.   This will be a storage area only.   I am consolidating all my storage to one area.  I am slowly moving the things I want to keep back into the storage area.  I told Josh I would do a bit each night and so far he has held me to that.  I am about 1/2 ways through the clothes.  Then I have to begin on the toys.  YIKES!!  There are alot of them.  I will be needing a few more shelves, but have to wait until next paycheck to get more I think.

I hope I am stay with this and report to you each night that I have worked on my basement.   Tonight I organized two bins of size 3T clothes.  I hope I can have this all done by the time my brother comes to visit in March.  LOL!   I also called to make an appointment with an electrician, but he won't be able to even get to my fuse box currently!    I have my work cut out for me.  I sure wish I had a digital camera to share my progress with you all.  Unfortunately, that isn't in our budget.   ARGH...I see very inexpensive ones and wonder if they would be good enough for just pictures for my blog???  Hmmm.....I would hate to waste the money even $50.00.  But I would love to share my progress on my projects that I am always talking about.  LOL!!  Mabye if I am close to a end of film I will just take a picture.

Time for me to head to bed and read a bit.  Later!

People can be divided into three groups: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened.  (tidbits from the calendar my MIL gave me for Christmas)

  • Great Activity

Tommy enjoys playing with snow (shaving cream).  Today at school they had it on a table where you could have the Sesame Street characters hide in the snow.  He liked it, but doesn't like to be dirty so I had to wipe his hands off every few minutes.

Tonight while he was bathing I was cleaning the linen closet.  I always clean part of the bathroom while he plays.   I found three cans of shaving cream.  Hubby only uses an electric razor now.  We put snow on the tile wall in the tub and his little toys walked in it.  It worked great because he would rinse his own hands off in the water.  He played and laughed up a storm.  Plus the mess is very contained and easy to clean up!    He took a very long bath tonight.  I was able to clean the entire linen closet out!

    Great Sensory activity!

  • Well I spent the afternoon cleaning off my hard-drive on my laptop.  It is my work computer and they are getting me a new one.  YEAH!! I deleted over 200 files off it already and I am only about through about 1/2 of my folders.

I decluttered by night stand while hubby cooked supper.  He cooks on Mondays.  I also put the items from my old sewing box into the new one hubby bought me for my birthday.

The rest of our evening will be pretty uneventful.  It is my free night, so I might work on the basement a bit after I give Tommy a bath and put him to bed.  I still need to clean one more corner out in my bedroom.  Then I have to convince hubby to declutter his magazine pile in our bedroom.

Well off to put on my jammies and enjoy a eveing doing nothing.....not like I can ever sit still enough to do nothing!

  • The weather is icky today so I am staying home to work.  I am turning on my electric blanket and sitting with my laptop to work the remainder of the day.!   I took Tommy to school this morning.  We had fun playing with the shaving cream.  Normally he hates getting dirty, but he did ok with this as long as i would wioe his hands clean when he asked.

After class we went to Toys R Us to get some jeans for Erik.  My hubby hates to see him in old, ill-fitting or worn clothes.  We bought him three pairs of jeans in each size.  If he lived with us full time we would have bought more.   I do plan on buying him quite a bit of new summer clothes.   We throw most things away that have stains, especially his socks!   If they are brown my hubby throws them away.  My hubby is very particular about these things, a bit more than me even.  Anyway, the great deal was that Levi jeans were on sale for 13.90 a pair, but you got 50% off that price, so brand new Levi's are 6.95 a pair.  Very good deal!  Unfortunately they didn't have any on clearance in Tom's size.  My hubby left a message for Eirk's mom so hopefully she will buy some for Erik too.  Great school clothes at a good price.

We have started organizing our dump of a basement.  I am very happy with our plans.  We are donating so much.  I am going through the clothes of Josh's and saving very little for Erik.  I think Erik should have new clothes and not have to wear someone elses hand-me-downs all the time.  I am keeping the nice things that won't go out of style.  I went through a numberof bins of clothes last night, size 3T, 4T and 14.

I hope to work a bit more on the basement tonight.  Later gotta get to work!
