Month: April 2004

  • Well  I am Duluth, MN tonight.   I am going to a conference here for work on Monday and Tuesday.  I came up a day early so I could have some relaxing time.  I didn't get up here as early as I would have liked to, but I am here.    I checked in at the hotel at about 9:00 and ended up needing to go to Best Buy to buy a cord for my computer.  I was back at my room and in bed by 10:30.

I will be sharing a room with my friends tomorrow night.  There will be 5 of us sharing a two-bedroom suite tomorrow night.  I just have a regular room tonight.   I think I am going to head to bed and read for a while.   Have a great night!

  • I feel like I am finally starting to get on the FLylady wagon again.  I feel off for a bit with my accident and all.  I sure could tell around the house.  I am trying to declutter the house room by room before summer starts.  I am in the bathroom and office this week.  I stikk need to do a bit more decluttering in the office, but so much of it is my hubby's things.  I don't know what I can throw and what I shouldn't.  I hope to get him to make a few decision on some things tonight.

I finally shopped at Aldi's for the first time.  You can't beat the prices there.  I got a few staples to try.  I don't think I will need to buy any additional groceries.  I think I will head to bed and read for a bit.   Have a great night!

  • Time has slipped away from me again and I haven't updated.   Let's see, if I can recap last week for you.

    MONDAY -

We bought a new 2000 Blazer/Trail Blazer.  Brought it home and took it stright to our regular car dealership to have it inspected.   Chiropractor appointment and spinal class.  Reviewed my x-rays and I have two major areas that need adjusting.   My car insurance should pay for a majority of my treatment.  I think it is important to take care of this while I am younger.

    TUESDAY -

Chiro and Spinal class again.  Worked some.....gee can't remember much else.

    WEDNESDAY -

Chiro appointment after work.  I actually went to FamiliesFirst at church for the first time in a month or so.   Wow..can it really be a month since my accident.  Argh...I want my life back!!!

    THURSDAY-

Maundy Thursday - work a partial day and stop at Northwestern Book Store on the way to work to get a 1st Communion gift for Erik.   We went to Maundy Thrusday service and shared Erik's first communion with him.  I was in great pain after that so I took a muscle relaxant and percocet and went to bed.   Erik came home with us after service for his weekend visitation with us.

FRIDAY - I had to take Friday off since daycare was closed.   I finally went buy some Easter things for the kids.  ARGH....it is very unlike me to be so behind.   The rest of the day we jsut stayed around home.

SATURDAY - we went to the Easter Egg Hunt at church, got groceries.   Tommy and i took a little nap.   Josh had a bonfire with his friends.

SUNDAY - went to church.  The sermon had me i tears...I hate crying in public.  He talked about how a friend of ours had died that previous morning.  I had not known she had died.  She had been in our Families First Progam with us a few years ago.  She had been battling cancer for the last two years.  We took her meals during Chemo, etc.  She was a wonderful person and only 35.  She was survived by three children and her hubby.   It was so sad.  Her oldest son was from a previous marriage and he had lost his father to cancer when he was younger.   Now to also lose your mother and he is only 16.  He is friend with my son Joshua.  She had two small children as well.

Sunday we took naps....common theme on weekends around here.  Tommy hasn't been sleeping though the night again so I try to catch up on sleep when I can.  We went to a Easter Brunch with my hubby's family.   After the brunch my BIL & SIL and kids came over to play until bedtime.

    not exciting.....but caught up!!  LOL!!

  • Silly Tommy story....

He is such a sponge.    Tonight I was cleaning his room and I had a box in the hallway.  he went up to the box and said something...I couldn't figure out what he said.  He repeated and I finally got it....he wasn't speaking english!!! LOL!!!

He said "Mi Casa".  He wanted the box to be his house..>LOL!!  I have no idea where this comes from.  It has to be Dora the Explorer but how can you pick up so much from a little show.

Speaking of Shows....I am working on limiting his TV watching even more.   After hearing again the research about the link of small children watching TV and the increase of chance of having ADD.   My stepson is the prime example!!    I want to do all I can to limit the chance of Tommy having similar problems.  So tonight instead of watching a little video in my bed before he goes to sleep.  We took a bag of books and crawled into my bed to read....I hope this will catch on as well.

I do sometimes have him watch a video while I make supper if I am home alone.   He does watch TV at daycare too...so I think that is enough.

    OUR DAY.................................

Tommy enjoyed sitting with the Easter Bunny.  He sat beside him 5
times and when I would remove him he would scream.

Mommy and Tommy looking for Eggs.

My bag is full Mommy.....can I open my eggs yet???

While waiting for Erik's egg hunt to start we all played in the nursery.
Erik, Tommy, Amy (Josh's GF) and Josh

Erik getting ready to start his scavenger hunt.   Josh and Amy helped him
    out with it a bit.

Then we gave AMy a ride home and stopped at the grocery store to get some treats
as Josh was having a bonfire tonight with his friends.

Hubby and I have the egg Hunt ready for our older two boys in the morning.  We tried to make the clues harder for them this year.  It is getting harder to trick Josh!!  Tommy has his own little egg hunt on the front lawn.  We didn't get a chance to dye our eggs today, but will do them tomorrow after church hopefully.

I hope you all have a great Easter.

  • HAPPY EASTER!

Everything I Need to Know, I Learned from the Easter Bunny

Don't put all your eggs in one basket
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey
Walk softly and carry a big carrot
Good things come in small sugarcoated packages
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears
There's no such thing as too much candy
Keep your paws off other people's jelly beans
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day
All work and no play can make you a basket case
A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention
The grass is always greener in someone else's basket
An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare
To show your true colors you have to come out of your shell Some body
parts should be floppy Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits

     Happy Easter!

  • CLoudi -  Erik has been stealing for a few years.  It now has gotten very compulsive and out of control.   He steals numerous times in a row while be punished.  He steals from siblings, parents, cousins, grandparents, neighbors houses, stores.   We have all exhausted ideas on getting him to stop.   He has always had special needs - he is developmentally disabled (low IQ) and has ADD for which he takes medication.  Now they have added the diagnosis of Anxiety Disorder with kleptomania (steals).   He also lies very frequently.   This is a problem in all settings, school, community, our house , his mothers.   Erik is the middle boy.  He is my stepson.   He will be moving in with us for the summer soon.   Should be interesting.
