Month: July 2004

  • I just got finished restuffing the back of my loose back couch.    the cushions look much better.   My next big project will be re-covering my dining room chairs.   My mom will help get me started on that when she comes.

I think I will go grab a shower and than clean up in the living room a bit.   I have a little laundry to do too.

  • I just had my performance review at work.  My sup gave me greatly exceeds standards in all areas.  YEAH!  So I should get a raise shortly.  I really prefer merit raises to everyone getting a raise.  I work very hard and I appreciate my employer noticing that and compensating me for that appropriately.  I hate being review though as I hate to have her tell me all the things she thinks I do well, etc...I wish they could jsut write what they think and let me know...LOL!!  I can't get her to do that yet!   I still get the comments, that I should be a supervisor.  I don't think so.....I like what I do and enjoy the flexibility of my position.  Maybe I will think about it once TOmmy is out of school!

Speaking of Tommy, I call my hubby to let him know I got Tommy into preschool.  He will be going Friday mornings 9:30 to 11:30. I forgot to ask how much the tuition was.  When I told hubby, he said he didn't care how much it was, Tommy was going..LOL!!  I love that my hubby is always willing to provide the best for our children that we can.   Our time to spend our money on ourselves will come...the kids are more important.  He doesn't golf or go out.  Hubby's #1 priority is his family.   I wish others could say that.

  • Today is fairly busy so far. I was up early and off to the
Chiropractor. Then I had to stop at home as I forgot something.  Then off to the post office for stamps for the month,.

Then I headed to my office. Once at my office I took care a few personal phone calls, car insurance guy, church pictures scheduled, and called the preschool.

Over lunch I ran to Famous Footwear to find shoes for the wedding I am in in September. I didn't find any I liked but bought a pair of black work sandals, so I can throw my old ones away. I always have 4 pairs of shoes for work, sandals - black and brown and dress shoes -
plack and brown. I try to keep it simple!

I am starting to have moments of motivation! I am still in a fair amount of pain from the accident but seem to tolerate it better.  Last night hubby and I bought foam to fix my loose back pillow couch. I will fix the couch and if it turns out will go buy foam for the love seat too! One at a time!! Baby steps....trying to remeber that!  I am famous for buying all the supllies for a project and never doing it! My family and friends know about the recliner that never has had a back! I also found some fabric I really like and I plan on recovering my dining room chairs in the near future.

The other project I am working on is the basket of magazines in my bedroom. I am taking one magazine a night and ripping out the pages I want. I am going to put them in a three ring binder as a sort of idea book. Last night I only took out 4 pages out of the magazine,
so why am I saving so many magazines for only 4 pages!

Starting to think about Christmas and making plans for homemade gifts.   I have some fabric for items I want to make that I can start soon!

    Have a great day!

  • Tuesday night...and I am very tired!    We decided not to go to the BBQ tomorrow night.  We are just too busy.   We need to finish up Erik's paperwork for his neurologist appointment.   Tonight was our weekly home cleaning.   When I got home from work Josh had already started his chores of the night.   Before I even got into the house Erik was in ahead of me and starting his chores.  I never had to ask either one of them to do any of it!    Erik cleaned both bathrooms and Josh mopped floors.

Hubby and I had a discussion tonight about school for Tommy next year.  I didn't want to go back to ECFE this year.  I just didn't feel like we were getting our money out of it.   Our church is not doing the Families First on Wendesday night so we don't have a class there for him either.   So I thought he would just not going to school this year and only attend Sunday school.   Hubby has VERY STRONG feelings about a good preschool for his son!  So actually Tommy will be starting preschool this year and will be going to three years of preschool before going into Kindergarten.  He will be going to the Lake Area Discover Center.  The tution is in the moderate range.  We will have to give up a few things to afford it, but well worth it for our son.  My hubby would gladly pay any amount for an appropriate head start to Tommy's education.  I was worried that three years of preschool was too much.   He already knows all his colors, most of this shapes and can count to 20.  He talks in complete sentences and can relate stories to you.  I am afraid that preschool might be a bit boring for him after a year.   We will see.....he is a smart cookie.

Speaking of telling me stories....tonight Tommy and I were acting out the story of the Three Little Pigs....The little playset came in our monthly shipment from Brighter Vision an educational system we subscribe to and do with Tom each month.

Tommy as a piggy......boy did we have fun with this!!!

  • Finally answering some questions/comments.........

mom2liznatesam - Yes, you discovered my secret!  I am a flybaby.  I have adapted the system to work for me and I am happy with it.  I don't read all the flylady mail, just follow the system.  What I have found the most helpful is Midwestblahs's Yahoo group - Michelle's Self Improvement Group - many of us are flybabies.  Their support has really motivated me!

Mistey - I really like the book Miserly Moms....I wasn't as impressed with Busy Moms Guide to Simple Living.

Terribowden - Hello - the movie Monster wasn't my type of movie at all.  I did not care for it.  The main character jsut bugged me!  I hated her mannerisms.  But I rented it from the library and it only cost 50 cents.   LOL!!   As for the cross stitching,   I have been working on a very detailed picture of a covered Bridge.  It does not have one square that isn't filled in.  You know what i mean, every square of aida clothes is stitched!   I am making it from my hubby.  Hopefully I will have it done for our 10th anniversary.  I have been working on it for over 5 years.  I don't get much time to work on it.  I prefer to read with my free time.

Brown_eyed_Mom - How are you feeling these days??  Hope all is well with your pregnancy!   The mural in Tommy's room was a shower gift from my neighbor.  The entrie room is painted with alot of detail.  It had Winnie the Pooh's honey tree in the corner and pictures of Tigger, Eyore and  Piglet.

Crazymomma - I love purses too....but I have been holding back on buying any.  I also love to buy shoes!  Good luck with all the packing/moving!

MsCaffieneAddict - Hope you have a great trip!!  Can't wait to hear about it.  We will have to conquer this potty training together when you return...LOL!   I am not ready for this!

Well I hope I answered eveyone's questions....I gotta eat my supper and get back to work...later!
