Month: September 2004

  • MY BABY'S FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL!!!

He is Attending the Terrific Two's class at the preschool at our church!

    Tommy and his backpack!

  • I got my hair highlighted today.   Looks pretty good.  I have alot of shopping to do for the wedding yet.  I hope to do that this weekend.   There are a couple of things I know I want to get so I will pick them up tomorrow.

Tomorrow is my baby's first day of preschool!   You can bet there will be a picture tomorrow!   My hubby and I are taking him there together for his first day.  Neither one of us wanted to miss this milestone!   Tommy is very excited, especially about his new backpack!

I hope to get some things done around the house tomorrow.  I am actually caught up on laundry!  WOW!! So I won't be spending the weekend doing laundry.   I think I might try to cut out the fabric for my dining room chair tomorrow.   Well time for me to head to bed.   Later!   Have a great night!

PS - Potty Training Update - Tommy pooped in the bathtub tonight.  Informed me he peed on my chair...and yes, he did the chair I sit in when I am on my laptop.  OOPS...and hit the floor a couple of times.  His cousins were over so he wasn't too hip on going potty.  He only went once in the potty this evening.   More laundry to wash of course!

  • Another great OAMC website for "Dump CHicken". You just make
marinades and freeze with the chicken breasts. Very good! I do this
    even with bottled marinade sometimes!

  • I am in the process of cleaning out our freezer than I will get it
stocked for winter. I do alot of Once A Month Cooking (OAMC) to get
us through the busy holiday season. Life is so busy to cook, that I
cook now and freeze the meals for later use. I also give meals to my
in-laws to help them out. I feel the need to cook a bunch soon,
since my large freezer is starting to empty!

Recently a new place has opened in our town called MixItUp. It is a
place where you can go to cook freezer meals. Great idea I suppose
if you have never heard of it, but way too expensive if you bulk cook
to save money like we do. I have a group of friends at church that I
will cook with. We occassionally cook at the church together. They
have a great facility for bulk cooking!

If you are interested in learning more about this way of cooking, the
following websites are a couple of my favs! I do more session
cooking on the weekend. We have been doing this for years and keep
our food bill pretty reasonable with it!

So don't pay someone to teach you how to cook like this! They
resources on the internet are fabulous! Save the money that is the
    whole idea of freezer cooking!

LETTER OF THE WEEK - A
Color letter, trace letter, and post to poster!
THEME - JUNGLE:  Story and Song
    REVIEW - Shape and Color

Tommy update - He loves playing school.  When he gets home from daycare he says "can we play school??"   It is a good thing really.  So we have been getting his little items out of the way before supper.   He knows the letter A when i show him the magnetic letter.  We have read a few books about the Jungle our theme this week.  We really don't do much with the color and shape, since he already knows he colors and shapes!   He knows the basic shapes, but once we get to octogan, etc those will be new.   We are learning nursery rhymes too!  This week is Hey Diddle DIddle.     Lots of time when I lay down with him at night we jsut talk.  He tells me about his day.  He must have been naughty for his auntie yesterday.  He told me he called her stupid.  His new naughty word, he knows he isn't suppose to say!  He said he got in trouble for hitting Mateo.

Joshua - doing well with school, but it has only begun.  Doesn't have a job yet either!

Erik - Enjoying Middle school so far!  He sounds pretty happy about it!

Paul & I  - Back to our regular routine.   OUr group Wednesday night was cancelled by the church due to budget cuts.  We talked to them about reformatting the group and it is back meeting on Wednesdays.  We start September 15th!   I hope it isn't expected that Paul and I teach since we got the group started again!  I have some ideas but don't want to be locked in to doing it every week.  I did get a couple of books at the library I am interested in read withthe group.   Like the Mimi Doe book, 10 principles of Spiritual Parenting and maybe a bit of the James Dobson daily devotional for parents.   Since my schedule has changed the boys and I will be eating at church each Wednesday too!  One less day to cook!  YEAH!

Well back to work I go.....Later!

Make 48 regular muffins or 96 mini muffins.

  • Tommy is in bed after playing school one more time and a bowl of ice cream!    We are finishing up our week with a theme of cows.  Tommy can tell you what a baby cow is called.....most of the time.    We also started next weeks theme....Jungle......the vocab word is vine.  Which he has been swinging from all night like Tarzan!  We watched Tarzan and Jane this afternoon.   The following week we are doing Cats...so I reserved the books for that.   I am so blessed by all the fabulous free resources on the internet and library.  It is amazing!!    I did alot of reading with Josh from when he was very little, but with Tommy we really focus on different themes, etc.   Actually now that I think of it I was going to load the Candy land game onto my laptop so we can play that tomorrow.

Josh got home from the movie and left to go to the movie with friends already.  So I am going to enjoy the quiet and read my book in the living room while hubby works on the church website.   Good Night!

  • Tommy wore a pull-up this morning to church.  I didn't want to chance it.  I put him in underwear when we got home but he fell alseep cuddling with Daddy on the couch.  I put him down for a nap without a pull-up or going to bathroom before so he wet.   He has wet a number times today on the floor.  He tells me he has to go potty as it goes on the floor.   We will keep at it!  Boy I am sure making myself alot of laundry!!!

The church administrator spoke to Paul and I this morning about figuring about a way for our Families First group from last year to meet again this year.   It will be a little different, but we will be able to meet.  We will have to come up with out own ideas and topics and our children will go into their new program called KIDS FIRST.   I hpe everyone from our group last year will come again.  They are a great bunch of people!

I haven't gotten much done today with running Tommy to the potty!  I did go to Bloomington and have my Bridesmaid dress pinned for alterations.   I get to pick up the dress on the 22nd before the wedding.  This dress fits much better.   Then I came home and played with Tommy.  We played school!   He loves that.  I am doing the LETTEROF THEWEEK curriculm with him.   If you haven't been there it is a great site.

    www.letteroftheweek.com

We are on the second week of the prepatory curriculm.   Our vocab word is Vine and the theme jungle.  LOL!!   He has that down already!  We were watching Tarzan today and he said "He swings on a vine!".    The shapes and color are reveiw right now since he knows those.    He wants to play school one more time before bed so I should go to that!    I think we will review last weeks letter some more....A.

That is pretty much my night  I have done a few loads of laundry too!  I plan on heading to bed early and reading some more tonight.  Relaxing.................................................
