THE MAKING OF OUR ICE CREAM CAKE!!!
Tommy cleaning out the fudge jar!!!
Our finished product! I am letting it freeze more in the spring form pan before I try to remove it.
I slept in this morning sort of......I at least went back to sleep after being up with Tommy alot during the night. WOW....do I ever need some real sleep. Maybe when he turns 7! Hubby always says everything will be dandy when Tommy is 7. Only 3 more years of no sleep.
I have the boys "happy summer" gifts wrapped and the ice cream cake is finished and in the freezer. All I have to do is write on it with icing gel. It was really easy to make. I think it will taste great! I used an oreo crumb crust, then cookie and cream ice cream, than a whole jar of fudge sauce and more oreo crumbs. The finally layer was another layer of Cookies and Cream Ice Cream. YUMMY!! I think we have a new tradition!
I am off to do more laundry before we have to leave to pick up Erik!
Still awake.....I should start some laundry ,but that will probably wake up hubby. Hmm....I need to find more quiet chores to do. I have cleared the dining room table, and febreezed the living room furniture....what quiet chore could I do at 3:27am!! This is insane!
Tommy seems to have settled down for the rest of the night now. I think he was having bad dreams too. Tomorrow should be a busy day. I am going to make a ice cream cake for our beginning of summer/ Welcome Erik party! I have to wrap the boys presetns too. It is the kick off of our summer reading program too. We do this each year and I bought them each a book to start it off. The rest of the summer we will use the library. Josh and I compete with whoever reads the most pages over the summer wins! We do compete for money....a $20.00 bill. Erik competes against himself. We set the number of pages he needs to read in the summer to win the $20.00 to use on our end of summer trip. Hey they get spending money for vacation and they read......what more could i ask for!! I found Erik a great boxed set of books at Half Price books that is he goign to love. He is a reluctant reader to say the least! I have no problem getting Josh to read.
Not exactly sure how we will incoperate Tommy into our summer reading program this year. Maybe we will jsut see how many books we can read, etc. I was going to have him to the program at the library, but you have to be 5 this year to participate. Bummer!
Well off to clear the dining room table and head back to bed and see if I can sleep!
I'm awake....argh..and it is not even 2am yet. I went to bed really early since I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore at around 9:00. I jsut woke up a bit ago since Tommy was crying. I laid down with him for a while then he finally said his neck hurt. Hmmm...not sure what that could be. I gave him some tylenol and he seems to be settling down now. I think I will strighten up around the house since I am up. Then hopefully read until I fall asleep again. Too early to start my day already! YAWN!!
OUR DAY...........
Our weekends are getting more busy than I would like. But that is summer! This morning we did our usual trip to the library and Target to run errands. Than Tommy and I took naps before heading to the neighbor boys B-day Party.
Birthday Boys.......following a pirate map to a buried treasure!
The found the treasure!!! Tommy is the little pirate on the end with the eye patch and birthday hat!
BIRTHDAY CAKE!!
Can't see it well, but the boys are playing with a remote control submarine in the pool.
PIRATE PINATA!!!
After the party Tommy, Hubby and I went for a light supper at Applebees. We didn't feel like cooking tonight. When we got home my SIL and neice came over to play.
Tommy and Kristen playing before bedtime!
Now I am tired and ready to curl up in bed and read for the rest of the evening. Tomorrow we are staying home after church and I have a lot to do!!!!
Hope everyone had a great Saturday!
Summer is so busy. Last night I waited up to talk to Josh when he got home. He knew it was coming and not so happy about it. He is a good kid, but I wanted to review my expectations and rules for summer. Spending over 10 hours a day with his girlfriend is not going to be the summer norm. So we will see how this goes. I feel bad even having to say anything to him.
My breathing is terrible again and I am coughing alot. I was starting to get off the predisone, but now I bet they will increase it again. Tommy has a croupy cough as well. I really wish I could ever get off the prediseone and breathing would be good.
Today we need to get to the library right away and then stop at Target. We are taking Tommy to our neighbors b-day party from noon to 3:00. We have to go buy him a gift yet. Other than that I hope to continue on my never ending Mt Washmore! And finally get the toy mess cleaned up in the basement. Well time to get our day going. YAWN!!
HAPPY SATURDAY!
Getting ready to call it a night, put Tommy into bed and read my book for the rest of the evening. It was a tiring day. I drove to Duluth this morning (2.5 hours) in the pouring rain. Went to a placement meeting and drove back home (more rain). So I drove a little over 300 miles today during my work day and I am the one who hates to drive! There are a few things in my line of work that I do not enjoy......funerals for children I work with and placements like today. But I guess it all comes with the job, there are far more rewarding and wonderful things in the job. Great parents that thank me for my advise and help, calls to tell me about their children's new milestone (first steps, words and zipping coats! etc). Gotta love that! I love the kids, I enjoy being a part of their lives and watching them grow up.
After I got home I laid down for a bit and put the heating pad on my back. Nearly 6 hours of driving today made my back hurt! After that I put a bit of laundry away. Then Tommy and I played with his leap pad. His Daddy had bought him two new books and cartridges the other day. They are too hard for him, but he likes to have the story read to him and he can actually answer the comprehension questions at the end on the SHrek one. He is a smart little bugger! Tomorrow I think we will work on his alphabet desk for a while. We also drew alot tonight. He is finally willing to pick up a pencil again. He made alot of T's and drew pirate ships and people! I was getting worried since he was so adament about not writing for so long, but now he is enjoying it again. So we will keep up with that over the summer.
Sunday night will be the kick off for our summer and our little summer reading program we do at home here. More about that later.........Have a great evening!!!
Time to head to bed......calling it a day. I accomplished a fair amount today, but never everything on my very ambitious list! I need to make short lists. OUr house is all clean for the weekend. Hubby, Josh and I did the weekly blessing of our home. So the bedding is changed and floors scrubbed. Love hte smell of a clean house...yep, I am a geek.
My back has been hurting so bad all week. I am so tired of the chronic pain from my car accident. Today the Dr said that some of my injury will be permanent. ARGH....I hope my pain gets less, because I am not sure I can live at this level forever. ARGH. My attorney is starting the process of getting me compensated for my injury. I am sure that will take a few years. I just wish it would all disappear!
I did manage to squeeze in a nice walk this afternoon. It was very enjoyable.
I best get to bed I have to drive to Duluth in the morning for a meeting...have a great day/night!
Today is my day off.....you know what that means....I get to work like a fool around the house! LOL!! We did sleep in a bit, I didn't get up until 7:45, but was woke up through out the night by Tommy. Oh well..such is life.
This morning I am going to shower, and get to Aldi, bread thrift store and Rainbow to pick up some groceries. Then it is home to tidy up for the weekend and finish up the laundry. Tomorrow I am in Duluth all day......
Off to shower....have a great night!
