Month: July 2005

  • Morning....just a quick entry before I head to work.   Yesterday went pretty good.  I didn't leave the office until around 10:15 so I got home later than usual.   I did get alot done though.   I did manage to fit in two walks yesterday.  I hope to to the same today.  I have unit meeting this morning and then a homevisit at 1:00 so maybe over my lunch in between there I can walk a mile or so.   Tonight I have book group.  It is at a restuarant so I think I will go.   It should be short.   I haven't finished the book, I jsut couldn't get into it.  We are discussing Anna Karenina by Tolstoy.   I did start the book for August and finished it last night....I like it.  A nice light read, what I really needed right now!

During my supper break last night I updated our savings budget.  We are doing pretty good, though I am a little short in two categories.  One being Erik's braces since they were more than originally quoted and our monthly expense category.  I only budgeted for 12 months, when really it is 13 months between our taxes.   We claim 0 all year and then receive a fairly large return which we budget through out the year for larger expenses we how are coming.   We budget 300 a month for unforseen things, like school clothes, car repairs, etc.    I will be cleaning out our emergency savings line to pay for all the car repairs from July.   I put them on my CC at the time, but will have to pay a bunch towards them and then try to build up our emergency savings again.   The system we are using this year is working very well.    I also made my monthly billing paying sheets for the rest of the year.    I still have to print up the school  and medical info for the kids and get that in a central place.

Last night when I got home my older two boys had put up the tent in the back yard.  Erik, Josh and Charlie slept out in the tent for the night.   Josh volunteered to watch Erik today so he could sleep outside with them last night.   The ran electricity to the tent and played x-box and stuff.  Really roughing it.   Oh..and at about 11:00 or so they ordered pizza.   Camping is so tough!   Erik loves being included with the big guys.  They all treat him very well.   Josh graduates from high school on June 9th, 2006 so I am not sure what Erik will do without Josh around.   Though Josh does plan on staying at home for about 3 years following graduation.

We finally got info from the Middle School in the mail yesterday.  I need to sit down with it today and put events on my calendar.    Open houses and stuff like that.   I started to fill in my calendar with the days off the kids have from school.  OH MY....three kids in three different schools and all have different days off of school!   Luckily I will keep my current schedule of having one day off a week to accomodate their school schedules.   My calendar is so full and I only have the kids stuff on there not all my work stuff!  YIKES!!  It will be a very busy year!

Erik starts confirmaiton this year too....but that isn't a change in our schedule at we go to church for classes and a meal every Wednesday already.  I am not sure what class hubby and I will take this year.  I don't want to teach this year.  I need to cut back with Erik being with us and more time needed for his school work, etc.   We might sign up to the take the Alpha classes together.  We will see.......

I have to remember to get to church and sign Tommy up for daycamp in August.   I think it will be a nice tranisition back into school and preschool.  The camp is put on by his preschool and is from 9-11:30 each morning.  It happend to be he week that our daycare is on vacation so either I am home or my mom will come stay with the boys for me.  Either way tommy should be able to go and he is finally potty trained!!  So not a problem for camp!

Gotta hit the shower and get to work....Tommy is still sleeping.  He waited up for me to come home last night.   Have a wonderful day!

  • Wednesday and my first day at work this week.  WOW.   I just called and checked on the kids and Erik says his teeth/mouth is feeling fine.  I am so glad he isn't in alot of pain.

Tuesday I came into work to pick up my laptop and some files to prepare for a Wed. morning meeting.   I also stopped at the rental store and put down a deposit on the moon walk for the block party.   I also dropped some stuff off at the Dakota Cty Library.   Not the usual library I use since I live in a different cty.   Back home again to do some more laundry and start supper.   I made Smothered Hamburger Steaks (hubby and Erik loved them), mashed potatoes and green beans.  All the food was soft enough so Erik could eat just fine.  I made a marinade for supper tonight so all hubby has to do is throw the chicken breasts in the oven.    I remembered to make plans for my family for supper since I will be working late tonight.

The rest of my evening was spent reading, laundry, playing with Tommy and giving him a bath.  Tommy fell asleep in his own bed and I stayed up for a bit and prepared for my morning meetings.

Of course since I stayed up late and prepared for my meetings, they would cancel.  lOL!!   I got a call this morning while I was getting ready for work.   Oh well....we rescheduled to later in the week.

Today is a fairly easy day.   I worked on my budget over lunch, then I have a home visit at 1:00.   The rest of the evening will be in the office doing paperwork.   I will try and get two walks in today though.   Which means I better scoot and get my first one in before my homevisit.  Later!!!!

I will probably work on home paperwork while I eat my supper as well.    Always so busy at home.   Later!

  • We are back from the orthodontist.    Erik only got his braces on the top teeth.  Since he has such an overbite, they couldn't put the bottom ones on yet.   They will put the ones on the bottom once the top teeth move, otherwise he will bite off the bottom ones.   He seems fine.  I think it went pretty good!

  • MORNING....today Erik gets is braces on.   He isn't so excited about it anymore.  Poor kid.   Oh well....has to be done.  That is really all I have planned for the day.  Take Tommy to daycare and Erik to get his braces on.  I need to go into the office either this afternoon or evening depending on how Erik feels.    I have to do a few things before an early meeting tomorrow.

I am also geting caught up on laundry today.   I am off to shower and get going with my day.   I started a good book yesterday so I should get alot more of it read while Erik gets his braces on.  It is the book we will be discussing in bookgroup next month.     LATER!!  Have a great day!

  • Home from the Dr....no infection.  So I think it is a flair up of my condition called institual cystisis (IC).   I haven't had a flair up in years, but will increase my meds and see what happens.  The Dr thinks it is a kidney stone, so she ordered a ultra sound.  I jsut don't think that is it, but will go have it done all the same.   So she said take pain pills and rest.  Hmm......I can do that until Wednesday.    Then it is back to work.  I do have to go into the office tonight to pick up some stuff.   Argh!!

  • I found this on MamaLambNC's website......I really like it!  Hope she doesn't mind I am sharing it!

If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place,
But have not love; I am a housekeeper--not a homemaker.

If I have time for waxing, polishing, and decorative achievements,
But have not love; my children learn cleanliness--not godliness.

Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.

Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk.
Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.

  • I am not feeling any better so I called in sick to work this morning.   I finally got into the clinic and have an appointment at 1:40 today.   I am getting ready to throw on some clothes and take Tommy to daycare.  Then I think I will take some more tylenol and crawl into bed.   I have tomorrow off as well since Erik is getting his braces on.   I don't know that I will accomplish much today, but sleep and maybe read.     I might try to go through some paperwork and stuff, we will see.  Have a great day!!

  • Believe it or not I am getting ready to go to bed.   I am not feeling too well tonight.   I have terrible back pain and headache, which I think is a kidney infection.  I couldn't get into any urgent care center tonight so I will try and get a same day appointment at the clinic tomorrow.   They were booked solid for the day otherwise.   If it gets too bad I will go to the ER, but really don't feel like it.    I haven't had one of these for a few years.   Oh well....I do have some tylenol with codiene that I plan on taking for the pain so I can sleep, hopefully.

Erik is home....said he had a good weekend.  Glad to hear it!     Josh will be home later, his Dad will drop him off.

I have done a few loads of laundry and washed the dishes ....time to call it a night!

  • Good Afternoon!!  Tommy is up from his nap.  We are heading over to a church members house that just had a baby.  We are taking over a few gifts and meals.   I pulled 5 meals out of our freezer for them.   It is nice to have those on hand and not have to cook them!

While Tommy was sleeping I balanced the budget for the block party from last year.  I also reserved a moon walk for the block party.    This week I need to work on games and make out our shopping lists.   We are slowly getting some RSVP's but they are always slow to come in.   It makes it hard to plan.  Last year we ended up with 79 people at the party.  I was alot of fun.    The next two weeks will be very busy with planning and stuff.
Tomorrow I have to drop off the deposit for the moon walk and fax my request to the city to block off the street and get barricades   .

I better  get Tommy changed and head out!   Have a good afternoon.

  • Morning...Hope everyone is having a nice day.  I didn't accomplish much yesterday but to finish my book.   I read the Covenant by Beverly Lewis.   I hate to admit I really didn't like it that much.  I finished it, but I don't really like inspirational fiction.   I also can't read romances like anything by Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown or Danielle Steele or anything like that.    I call them grocery store romances.....just not my type of reading.

Hubby put mulch around all the flower gardens that I weeded.  They lookd very nice.

Today I am going to conquer paperwork, laundry and the playroom.   I also started a new book I would like to read a bit.

Well I am off to shower and head to church.  Later!
