  • I HATE THE END OF YEAR...............

Work is crazy......deadlines loom.  End of the year right around the corner.  I am taking a break to complain about it and eat my popcorn darn it!    I still have alot of work to do tonight!

I have three year end remodeling projects going on that have to be done by the end of the year!   That is how government funding works.  I have to keep calling the contractors to see if they are done.  I am talking huge projects!    One hasn't even started!   ARGH!! but he assures me it will be done..

I had 25 messages when I got to work this morning the phone has been ringing all day...everyone needs something...NOW!  (Reminder to self - never be out of the office for two days at the end of the year.)

Come January I need to start another huge project.  I will be part of setting up a new group home.  I did two of them about two years ago...what alot of work!  But they turned out great.  We are very proud of the programs.

I need to make sure I have seen everyone on my caseload at least twice this year.   If not I will be doing a made dash for some visits.  I can't even think about this until after my plans deadline which is the 15th!  One major project at a time, please!

Well my popcorn bag is empty and I need to get back to work.  It is about 6:00pm and I have 4 plans to write and 3 to revise before going home.   It will be a late night, no doubt!

Later all...thanks for reading my vent/whining!    Everyone needs somewhere to whine I guess.

  • Happy Monday!!!

    Good morning......

    YESTERDAY - SUNDAY

I was up early and cleaning. ironing and getting ready for the Cookie Exhange Party.  This is my 5th year of hosting this party.   It is a great kick off to the holidays for me.   I am always in the mood for Chirstmas after the party.   I had 8 firends over and we had appetizers, drinks and exchanged cookies.  Mine when straight into the freezer for our family Christmas party on Saturday.

I got alot of cleaning and decluttering done so I won't have much to do for our Family Christmas party.   I had hubby leave with Tommy so I could finish up.   Tommy always wants to help and I was in a bit of a time crunch.   And when Momma is home Tommy only wants me not Daddy.

    TODAY- MONDAY

Back to work.....I have to work late tonight since I have a huge deadline for Thursday to have all my plans done.   I will handing them all in tonight before I will allow myself to go home.  So it might be a very late night.

Today is weigh in day.  I am hoping for maintaining.  I ate and drank plenty last night!   I am not trying to loose over the holidays since that would be difficult and frustrationg for me.   I only have 8 more pounds to lose for lifetime.   I should be able to do that by March when we go to Florida.

I need to stop at the post office over my lunch break today and mail some packages.

  • Hello Everyone.....here is a quick run down of the last two days.  I am really tired so ready to head to bed!

    FRIDAY

The drive to and from Duluth went fine.  I took my client out to eat and then returned him to school and left Duluth.   The visit went fine.   One the way home I made my usual stop at Tanger Outlet Mall.   I only ever go to two stores.  The Carter and Old Navy outlets.   I found one pair of PJ's for Tommy at Carters.    At old Navy I hit there clearance racks and picked up a number of shirts for Erik and Tommy for $3.97 each.    Hoodies were only 9.00 each so I bought a few for school next year.   I try to do my school shopping throughout the year so I am not hit so badly in September.

Friday evening, hubby went out and Tommy and I played for the evening.  He wants to always sit in the dark and look at the Christmas Tree.

    SATURDAY

We tried to get out of the house quickly and get stuff done since I had a lot of cooking to do today.   Never seem to actually make it out when I want.....have you met my hubby??  ARGH!!   Anyway......they we were off and running.

First stop..............Bank and Target to return a shirt

    Then.......Groceries at Aldi

Stop by Goodwill and make a donation........

Then to Rainbow to finish up the Grocery Shopping....

Stop at Sam's Clubs for plates, pull-ups and Cocoa ingredients.....

FINALLY most of the shopping done.....Off to Have Tommy's Picture taken with Santa and his live reindeer.  The White Bear Business provided a complimentary picture with Santa.  We have to pick up the picture next week.  The live reindeer was pretty cool.....his name was Cupid and Tommy thought he was cool!

Then we went to the Library and liquor store.......finally home!!

I made a quick lunch and then got Tommy down for his nap.   While Tommy napped I made Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake and the dough for my Fudgy Mint Cookies.   I made 9 dozen of the mint cookies and about 12 dozed on the Christmas Peanut Butter Cup Cookies.   Finally I made my Christmas Cheese Ball and cleaned up the dishes.   I have been working in the kitchen for about 6 hours today.  YIKES!!

I am pretty ready for the party tomorrow.  I just need to clean up a bit and decorate and get my good dishes out etc.    I need to make the meatballs tomorrow in the crock pot and that is it!!

I am ready for a good nights sleeps............GOOD NIGHT!!

  • Off To Duluth for work today!...see ya later!

  • GOOD MORNING

Today is my day off.....and of course it is packed full!   Isn't that how it usually goes?   Erik just went out the door for school so now I need to shower and get Tommy ready for Preschool.

    JEN's TO DO TODAY:

    • Take Tommy to Preschool - Pick him up at 11:30 and take to daycare
    • Go to Target to Find Khaki Church Pants for Erik
    • Clean up around the house until Hubby get home around 12:00 - (He had a meeting he had to go to so he won't be home until 1:00.)
    • Finish printing the last of my Christmas Newsletter
    • 12:30 - pick up Erik at school
    • 1:30 - Erik's Dr Appointment
    • 4:00 - Hubby has Dr Appointment
    • Laundry and pick up more around the house in preparation for my party this weekend

  • I am so glad I got most of my Christmas shopping done early.  We are so busy!   I don't know how that always happens, but it does.

Let's see....I did stop at Target and picked up snow boots for Erik and new dress pants for both Erik and Tommy for Christmas.  Ok...bear with me while I get on my soapbox here.   Both my hubby and I have tried very hard to teach and show our children the level of respect we believe church should receive.  That means we do not allow our children to show up at church in jeans and tennis shoes.   God deserves more effort and respect than that!  We do lighten up a bit with this in the summer, but the atmosphere of the church is also lighter.  I am ok with my boys wearing black jeans that look nice as well.  So are we crazy to feel this way??

Now that I am thinking about it I think I will go back to Target and get another pair of dress pants for both Erik and Tommy.  They were on sale for 9.99 and they could use new Khaki's as well.   These were even the adjustable waist kind that both my skinny boys need.  I don't think I have to spend a lot of money on my kids clothes, just look like you care.

I only have a bit of Christmas shopping to do yet.  I have to buy hubby one more thing and get one last Blockbuster $5 gift card.  That will be it for me and I am done!  I picked up all the boys a new pair of Pj's for Christmas today as well.

Tomorrow I am off of work, but will be running around a lot.  I have to take and pick up Tommy from Preschool.  Erik had a Dr appointment.   My hubby has a Dr. Appointment as well and wants me to go with him.  I hadn't planned on going ,but since he asked I will.  I would like to fit in an appointment with my chiropractor since I haven't been there in while since my ribs were broke.   They seem to be better now.  I can even lay on my tummy for a little bit without too much pain,   Then tomorrow evening is Josh's school conferences.    BUSY, BUSY......

Friday I am in Duluth all day......I hate that DRIVE!!!   I am listening to a pretty good book on tape so I should get that finished on Friday during the drive.

Saturday will be spent getting ready for the party on Sunday.  I am having my 5th Annual Cookie Exchange Party at my house.   I will clean and bake on Saturday.  Sunday I will make cheese cake and all the goodies.   Hmmm...somewhere I am going to have to fit in getting groceries!  See what I mean....life is kicking up a notch in speed.

Next week is not too bad so far.......additional things include, Tommy has a field trip on Tuesday for preschool so I had to switch around some Dr appointments.   Wednesday...church.   Thursday I have conflicting commitments, but Tommy's preschool concert won out over Book Group....sorry guys!

Friday is my work Holiday meal........I can't even remember where we are going.  Always somewhere nice.....Oh yeah...we are going to Buca di Beppo in St Paul.  I have never been there...I don't think they have Happy Meals...so we wouldn't go there normally!

Saturday......Our family Christmas Party at our house!  25-30 people at our house for Lasagna and all the trimmings to exchange and open presents.

All this before Christmas is actually here!   I hope to take a few days off to recuperate at some point!

Gotta Scoot...I am off to another meeting!

  • Decided on my menu for my Cookie Exchange Party:

    Meatballs (Cream Sauce and BBQ)
    Christmas Cheese Ball with Crackers
    Peanut Butter Cheesecake
    Hot Christmas Punch
    Hot Cocoa with Pettermint Schnapps

  • TUESDAY.........................

I slept in a bit this morning that is always a welcomed treat.  I rolled out of bed around 7:10 and hit the shower.  Tommy woke up and I made him some eggs.   Then we both got ready for our day.   I had a few minutes to spare so I stuffed 40 of my Christmas Newsletters into envelopes and dropped them into the mail after I took Tommy to preschool.

I am so happy to report, Tommy walked into his classroom this morning and never ever turned back to say good bye to me.  WOW..maybe we are getting over this bout of separation anxiety.  He was enjoying his friend Cooper and could care less about momma today.

I went straight to work after stopping at a MIddle School to do a classroom observation.   Now I am going to hit my pile of paperwork here before lunch....actually maybe I should get my Christmas cards out to my clients....... hmmm....decisions, decisions.....so many things to do!

Not to much going on today....I am planning on getting home from work early so I can take Tommy to the Advent Family Event for the preschool.   Erik has an ortho appointment after school.  Hubby will need to take him since I won't be home yet.

I hope to finish printing the last of my Christmas Letters tonight and get everything mailed tomorrow.   Then I have to work on my menu and shopping list for my Cookie Exchange Party on Sunday.  I am not sure what cookeis I am going to make yet.  I have to make some cider, hot cooca and appetizers for the party as well.   Always a good time!  I have 6 people that have RSVPed and 4 I am waiting to hear from.  I limit the party to 12 invites only.  This is the 5th year I am hosting this holiday event!  It is a great tradition.  Erik was upset that he won't be at our house for the event, but we couldn't squeeze it in next weekend since that is our Family Chirstmas Party.   We usually host about 25 to 30 people of that evening.  He has to realize he can't be at our house for everything, even if he wants to.   It wouldn't be fair.     He just doesn't see it that way.
