Month: January 2006

  • Things never work out how you plan........

I said I would be home tonight by 7:00 or at least would only work until 7:00.   Things haven't work out like that.   It is almost 10:00 and I am just getting ready to clear my desk and head home.   I had a mini crisis arise and needed to handle that and still needed to finalize two budgets before I could go home.  The good part is I really don't need to take any work home for tomorrow since I have my 40 hours in.   I might return a few phone calls, but no reports!!  I suppose I could use the comp time.....hmm...to take work home or not??    NOT!!!!

    I am heading home.....have a great evening!!!

  • TOO FUNNY......Had to do this, FireWifeMom had it on her site!!

    Your Hillbilly Name Is...

    Big Mama Montana

  • Back from Red Wing.....I stopped off and saw Deb.   Seems like she might be in labor....so should be a baby soon!!!   It was great to get a chance to visit with her a bit.  Now, back at the office and need to get my TO DO LIST DONE before I leave for the day!  Later!

  • Off and running....driving to Farmington and than on to Red Wing.  Have a great day!

  • Finished one more book in January......

    Wonder Spot - Melissa Bank - 3/5 - Ok/Avg Read

Not sure if I missed the boat on this book or what.  It was listed on the library website as one of the Top Books of 2005 and I didn't think it was that great.  I did finish it....but I didn't love or care about the characters much.

  • TUESDAY.....

Last day of January, can you believe it??  ARGH....sometime I wish our life would slow down some.  Tonight I work until 7:00 or so and then I will be home.  YEAH!!

I realized just last night that I need to run to Red Wing today.  I am hoping I can stop and see my friend Deb for a minute or two if she isn't off having that baby!    I will call her this afternoon to see if that will work.  Tommy found a litle toy in his room he wants me to give to the baby so I thought I would drop it off.

I should be pretty busy today.   I am going to finish my book on tape today since i only have 5 minutes left on it and start a new one!

Erik has a Dentist Appointment tonight.  I hope hubby remembers to take him.

    TOMORROW -

I only have to work for 3 hours on Wednesday so I will be doing things around the house in the morning and getting groceries and of course go to the mall and walk a few miles.   I need to keep at that.   My energy level is really draining.   I knew to expect this, but it is hard since I always have so much energy.  But the energy was because I took so much steriods.   So the Dr said that I would experience this as I taper off my medication.   But I am trying to keep on top of things even though I don't ahve the energy.   It jsut really hit me last night!  A 12 hour day at work is usually nothing to me...but I came home last night and went right to bed.

I need to run and finish getting ready for work and get Tommy up and ready for school.   I need to get up earlier in the morning since I haven't been able to fit all my morning routine in lately.   I need to work on that, but I am so tired!

    Have a great Day!!!!

  • MONDAY......

I love Mondays......back to the routine of my life.   As many of you know by my lists I thrive on routine!!!  Of course Monday's mean I weigh in for Weight Watchers.   I have not been able to make it to a meeting in 3 weeks and I gained during that time.  I had a three pounds gain that  I have to get rid of.  I really need the accountability of  weighing in each week.  I have been tracking my points again so that should help!  I can never find my WW trackers so I have been making a private post each day of my points.

SO as of Today.................12.8 pounds to go to LifeTime!   I slid a bit on the hill to my goal, but I will start climbing again!    Today was the beginning of a new session at work, so I always have renew commitment after writing out that check!!

    YESTERDAY

My parents came to visit on Saturday so they attended Church with us.  Tommy was good for the service.    After church I came home and made brunch for the family.  Hubby and Josh's favorite biscuits and country gravy!   After Brunch hubby went to church and Erik started on Homework.   Erik worked on his History day project until bedtime!  I wish he had a clue as to what he is doing.  Tommy took a nap for a bit.  I tried to nap with him but really couldn't and keep Erik on task.  I spent my afternoon reading, doing laundry, washing dishes and paying a few bills.   I made chicken burritos with the leftover chicken from Saturday.

Thanks everyone for commenting....good to know I am not talking to myself.  I do that enough in real life!

I love Saturdays!   I got to sleep in....my alarm didn't go off until 7:30.   YEAH!   Last night we did our weekly cleaning and I vacuumed Tommy's room as my Dad will sleep in there tonight.  I was really tired last night and asleep by 10:00.

Today.....I just had my breakfast.   I have finally found a breakfast that is enough to fill me up and not a million pionts!   I had Egg Beaters Flavored (1/2 cup - 1point), Weight Watchers English Muffin (1 Point) and spray I Can't Believe It is Not Butter - 0.  I had never used Spray Butter but it is fine!    So a brekfast to fill my Tummy for 2 points!  I have gained a couple of pounds I think.   I will weigh in on Monday so we will see.  I am trying to regain my motivation and get to life time!   I struggle to stay consistent when my life is so busy.   My friend started WW in September and will be lifetime on Monday.  She lost over 30 pounds in that short period of time.   I am so proud of her and jealous..LOL!!  She looks great!   I wish I could do that!  I have about 10 pounds to lose yet and don't seem to make consistent progress.

Well time to hit the shower and get to the mall to walk!  I need to get a couple of miles in before my parents get here.

Supper Tonight:   Rotiserre Chicken (crockpot), Mac and Cheese, and Either Green Beans or Broccolli.

    Have a great weekend!!!

  • Knocking on the screen????   Is anyone reading this?  I always wonder when my comments go so low is anyone even reading this??  Is my life just not blog worthy.   Well I do this more for myself than anyone else so.....I type and type.....never knowing if anyone is reading!

    YESTERDAY

Work went fine....got a few things done and went to another Parent Teacher Conference.   I love going to conferences.    Then I went to book group!   It was a blast!!    We had a full house almost.  One of the members is still on vacation in Florida.  But otherwise everyone was there.   We laughed...and laughed.....did it ever feel great!!   I really needed that.

We discussed the book Reading Group by Elizabeth Noble.  I really enjoyed that book.  the characters are well developed and you really care about them.  I could relate to a number of them.  I could relate to the young girl who got pregnant since I was pregnant with Josh at age 16.   I could relate to Clare the woman dealing with infertility.  I dealt with that for 7 years until we had Tommy.   What a miracle!

Book Group started at about 6:30 and I didn't leave St Paul until after 10:00.   I came home and curled up in bed with Tommy and hubby.  Tommy told me about his field trip and was asleep very quickly.

Hubby and I discussed the information hubby brought home from the Open House about NI Magnuson School.   I think we are in agreement that he will go to school there for as long as we can afford it.  The church plans are to add one grade a year through Middle School.  Once Tommy starts there, he will be the 5th Kindergarten class going through the school.  It would have been a harder decision if it was still a brand new school still, but after 4 years they should know what they are doing with Kindergarten.  If you would have told me 5 years ago I was going to put my child in a Christian School I would have laughed, now I couldn't imagine sending him anywhere else.    I think it is the right decision for Tommy and our family.  I wish I could have given that type of opportunity to Josh, but I was very young and didn't have much money.  But I spent alot of time with him and worked on skills at home and read to him a lot!   And for Erik we didn't have the choice since he didn't live with us.   It would have made a world of difference with him though.  As you can tell this is on my mind right now, so I am sure I will blab about it alot for a bit.

    TODAY

I am off to work and then I am coming home and need to finish cleaning Tommys room.  My parents are coming and my Dad sleeps in Tom's bed when they stay.   Someday we will finish our basement and have a guest room.   That could be a long time though.  We are hoping to get the electric done so we can move Erik's room besides ours and increase his supervision.   It will make our lives much easier.   My hubby needs to find out where you go to get a permit for the work and then we can get started.   I am very anxious to get that done!

Erik just headed to the bus so I need to get ready and get out of here.  Have a great day!!

  • Hello everyone......hope everyone is having a great day!   It is a nice day here in MN so am enjoying the warmer temps.

    YESTERDAY

I did get a fair amount of things done yesterday, but as always not as much as I planned.   It took me longer than planned to clean up the kitchen.  My sweet children haven't been doing their dishes when I work late.   So I ended up doing them since I couldn't stand it anymore!   I also took the fridge apart and washed it out.  Someone spilt something and didn't think to wipe it up.

After cleaning up the kitchen I had to work for a bit.  I completed two reports and put some more books on tape onto my MP3 player.  I now have it full.  I was able to put 7 books on there!  Very cool!  I just started listening to a new one last night.

Then we headed to church and had supper.  The kids went to confirmation and we headed home with Tommy.   I really don't like not having a class to be in on Wed night.  I wish they would have something, but Tommy won't stay in the nursery anyway.  So we went home and Tommy and I cuddled and watched a Scooby Doo Movie.    Hubby went to pick up Erik form confirmation and I went to Church to attend the parent meeting for Josh's Mission Trip.  He is going on his last Mission Trip.  He will be going to Chalias Maine.   I have always wanted to go to that area of the states.   It is a more expensive trip this year for some reason.  The church pays for $100.00 of it and he will need to fund raise at least $180 and we have to pay for the rest.     It is always a great experience for him.  They will be painting houses a gain and holding Kids Club for the local children.

Then it was back home and herded everyone off to bed.   Tommy refused to wear a pull-up last night so we tried not wearing one again.  He stayed dry.

    TODAY

Tommy needed to be at school early this morning.  He is going to the Health Club to exercise as the preschool is doing a unit on healthy bodies.   He was a little nervous about going on the bus, but did separate from me after a little bit.

I am working until 6:00 tonight and then going to a friends house for Book Group.  I love Book Group!   It is the one night I really look forward to each month.  I wasn't able to attend last month since Tommy had his Christmas Program so I didn't want to miss this month too.

Hubby is going to the Open House tonight for NI Magnuson School.  This is the parochial school we are considering sending Tommy to for Kindergarten.   He will have to go another year of preschool next year due to his late birthday.  He will go there three days a week though.  Then if he goes to Magnuson he will go to full day kindergarten.   They have alot of extra things in their curriculum like computers, Spanish, piano lessons and of course religion.  The tuition this next year is less than what we pay for daycare a month right now.  While it would be nice to have that money to pay off other things, but our #1 priority is our children's education.  So we will just put the daycare money towards parochial school if we decide to go that way.  The class size is guaranteed to be smaller in the private school and I really want that for Tommy.  He is a very smart child and I want to give him the best opportunity as possible.  We had Josh in the gift program in the public school when he was little and it really didn't meet his needs.   Tommy is smart like Josh, but very motivated to learn as well, which Josh wasn't.  It is so amazing watching this little one grow up.   He is a true joy to my hubby and I.   Luckily for me, my hubby is 100% behind finding the best school for Tommy.  We are also going to look at Center Point a public school that offers a more individualized educational program.   I am so excited about being able to provide Tommy with these opportunities.  I truly believe that everything you do early childhood education wise, pays off in spade in the future.  It makes a world of difference!!

    TOMORROW

FRIDAY!!!!  I am working and then heading home to get the house cleaned up a bit and read.  I want to finish my current book so I can give it to my mom.   My parents are coming to visit on Saturday to celebrate Christmas and my birthday with us.
