Month: January 2006

  • YAWN - I am ready to head to bed here.   I just need to clean up the kitche na bit and call it a night.   I want to finish my book tonight so I can return it to the library tomorrow.  I made it home around 6;00 and made Chicken Enchiladas for supper.   The recipe I used makes enough for 3 meals worth so we have two more meals of it in the freezer.  Those will come in handy the nights hubby needs to cook.

I do have my menus ready for the next few weeks.  I decided to try doing a 6 week rotation for menus.  Monday and Tuesdays will be meals hubby cooks.  Wednesday we eat at church and Thursday and Friday will be family favorite recipes from our website.  Saturdays will be my day to try a new recipe.  Sunday will be our usual breakfast after church and a crockpot meal in the evening.   It realy didn't take any longer to plan for 6 weeks so I think I might do this for a while.  I was getting so gtired of making my menus, bit know I can't go shopping without having my menu done sure to financial restraints.

So here is menu plan for the next 6 weeks.......................

  • Hello - Yes, I am still alive!   My mother called last night to make sure I wasn't in the hospital since I hadn't blogged since Monday!  LOL!!   Once...I was in the ICU and I told hubby not to tell mom right away as she would worry too much.  See what I have created!!  I have just not really felt like being on the computer much.

MONDAY - Day off of work and school for us all.  We just hung around home and relaxed.

TUESDAY - Back to work and school for all of us!  I worked until about 6:30 and then went to weigh in at a center since our at work session didn't happen this Monday due to the holiday.  I hadn't weighed in since before the holidays so I NEEDED to know what the damage was.  We has some big parties and lots of treats and drinks!   I ate alot and didn't count!  Bad, Jenny!   Since I last weighed in on 12/12 I gained 1.2 pounds.  I knew I had gained and actually I am happy with that amount of gain considering what I ate!   So hopefully I am now back on schedule and will be a good girl and count daily!  I have 10 pounds to go to lifetime!   That is my goal for 2006, I have to make Lifetime!   I should be able to lose 10 pounds in 12 months!

WEDNESDAY - Didn't sleep well at all as I was annoyed at hubby and worried about my medical testing that happened on Wednesday.  I got up early and we head to Eagan to have my EGD done.  It is a scope put down your throat to look at your eshogus and stomach.   It really wasn't bad at all since I had conscious sedation.  I don't remember any of the procedure at all and they had a hard time waking me up.  Hey, I like my sleep!   Hubby took me home and I went to bed and slept until about 7:00pm.  So I slept the entire day away.  I got up in the evening and worked on work, work for about 2 hours and paid our household bills.  Then back to sleep for me.......

Oh yeah...the results of the EGD, I have erosion of the lining of my stomach and was put on two more meds for that.  ARGH...my goal is LESS Meds people!!!  I have to see the gastroenologist again in a month I think it was.  She wants to do another test where they go down your nose to measure acid levels.  ARGH!   YUCKY!!

THURSDAY - back to work again...no real side effects of the EGD except for a bit of a sore throat.   I spent all day Thursday working and setting up my tracking and organizational things for the upcoming year at work.   Then headed home and put supper in the oven and we all did our chores and got the house all cleaned up.

FRIDAY - Working until only 5 tonight and then heading home!  Not much planned for tonight.  I think I might get groceries either tonight or tomorrow morning depending on when I am done walking at the mall.

SATURDAY - Hubby and I are going to the Home and Landscaping show.
SUNDAY - Church and cooking session with my friends at church.

  • Sleepless Night Put to Good Use.......

I refuse anymore to lay in bed and toss if I can't sleep.   If I forget to take my asthma meds early enough I can't sleep.  Of course today I forgot to take them until WAY late...so I have been awake since about 1:00.   This will totally mess my day up tomorrow, but I got up and decided I would work on some things since I was wake!

This time of year I always get the declutter and organizing bug.   That is a lot of what I have been doing all week.   I totally cleaned our bedroom and kitchen.   I wiped out all the cupboards and reorganized them.  They really needed it.

Yesterday (Sunday) - I handled most of the paperwork stuff for the year.   I shredded the bills from last year and went through the filing.   I set up my taxes folder so that as things come in the mail I will put them there so we are prepared to do our taxes very early in February.

During my little insomnia episode here, I have updated my flylady stuff.   I need to have a lot of list and things to stay organized.   I am a huge list maker.  This really works for me and I really juggle a lot of things.

I made a new form to use this year,  A Monthly To Do Form.   This way I can jot down notes of things I want to get done for that month.  Sort of Goals for the month.   I added to the form the Birthdays for that month and my list of Monthly Routines I already have listed.  I also updated my Routines - Morning, Bedtime, Weekly Plan and Monthly.   I feel like I am trying to start the year off on the right foot and get back on the flylady wagon!

I also updated our calendars.  I put stickers on for the next two months to designate who's dish night it is.   The best Calendar you can buy???  The one sold on the Flylady site.  It has great big squares to write in.   Since there are 5 of us, I need alot of space.  I updated our Chore Schedule Form and put it online.   We have rotating chore lists that we do on Thursday Nights.   This has proven to work very well for us.   Everyone helps with the weekly cleaning and it is done in less than an hour!

So are you hoping to be more organized in 2006??   I did pretty good in 2005, but always are tweaking my routines a bit.  My biggest thing is to stay on the flylady wagon the entire year!!    If you are looking for some great websites to get you off on the right foot in 2006, check out the following!!  Some of my favorite!!

Get Organized Now - Tip for the Day:   January 2 Store holiday linens, napkin rings, Christmas dishes, holiday music, etc. Label the box or container clearly so you can easily find what you need next holiday season.

  • I finished my kitchen this morning.   I wiped out all my cupboards and straightened up the book shelf.  Then I moved onto organizing all the filing from 2005 and destroying what didn't need to be saved.

Josh is at work from 3 until close.

Erik is working on his history project.

Tommy is watching Toy Story 2.

I am going to clean out the four drawers of our secretary.

    Hubby - on the computer!

I will have to get supper into the oven soon as well.    Everyone slept so late that I didn't even make lunch since they ate cereal at noon when they got up!!  LOL!!!   I think I will even make a dessert tonight.   That is a rare treat around here!

  • SCALLOPED POTATOES AND HAM

I really don't have a recipe for this, but should get it written down.

Peel enough potatoes to fill 1/2 of a 9 x 13 cake pan.  Mix about 2 cups of chopped ham with the potatoes.

Mix two cans cream soups (mushroom, celery or chicken) and milk in nearly equal amount to the soup (slightly less).   I just add about 1-1/2 soup cans of milk. Mix together soup, milk and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.

Sprinkle salt and pepper on the potatoes.   Pour Liquid over the potatoes and ham.

Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours until potatoes are tender

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

All is quiet in our home.  I love it.   I have been up an hour already and no one has gotten up.   I am enjoying the quiet.   I spent some quiet time reading my bible and visiting a few blogs.

We stayed up pretty late last night.   We came home from the neighbors around 1:00 or so.   Then the boys wanted sandwiches.    I read Tommy a story and he was out by the last page.   I read a few and was out myself.   Both hubby and Tommy are still sleeping.   Tommy crawled back in bed with us sometime during the night.

The party was fun.   There were 4 families from our block there, between us all we have about 14 kids.   So it was a house full.   We did fondue and had a pool tournament.   The fondue was great, there was marinated chicken, beef, shrimp and scallops.   There was cheese curds, veggies with batter, hot dogs.  It was all great fun!   It was so nice to catch up with everyone and visit.  I ate way too much!!   Should be interesting when I weigh in next week!

I hope to not leave the house for the next two days at all!  That is my goal!!!   I might go sledding with Tommy, but that is it!  This morning I am going to finish cleaning out the last kitchen cupboard and my kitchen book shelf.  Then I am moving onto the dining room.   I have our filing in there of our yearly bills, which I need to go through and shred what I don't need to keep.   I need to set up some paperwork things for next year as well and update calendars.   That will get done today.....

Tomorrow.........Go through Tommy's clothes and put away our Christmas Tree!
