  • MORNING.....MONDAY............

Back to our routine of life.  I enjoy weekends, but like Mondays and getting back to our routine.   Erik came home last night and had over an hour of homework to do yet.   He didn't get to bed as early as he should have since he had that to do yet.  Tommy and I were in bed early, but Tommy was difficult to get to sleep since he had a nap.  We did some homework and read a number of books before bedtime.

I will be working a little late tonight and then I have a meeting at church at 7:00.   Not much else on the agenda for today.   I have to stop at Target over my lunch break and pick up Valentines candy for Tommy for Preschool.   I need to work on my menu/shopping list some time either today or tomorrow.   Well time for me to get ready for work.   Erik will be getting on the bus soon and than I can go downstairs and finish getting ready for work.

  • EARLY BEDTIME.....

We had a nice day today.  We all lounged around this morning since we weren't feeling the greatest.   The afternoon, Tommy, Hubby and I took a nap.  Tommy got up and he watched a movie since his tummy hurt.  Then he signed his Valentine's for school and read his books to Daddy.

I wanted to post some pics from today, but I can't get them off my chip for some reason...hmmm...

Well I suppose I will call it a night.  I need to get Tommy out of the tub and to bed.   The last load of bed sheets are in the dryer so I have a few beds to make yet.    But I love to curl up in bed and read when I change the sheets each week.  They smell so great!

    Have a great week!!!

  • SUNDAY....

I am starting to think my exhaustion is due to getting sick.  I woke up this morning with a terrible headache, sore throat and just feeling icky!   I went back to bed.   I could go to sleep for another few hours I think!    But I really have to get some things done around here.

Tommy read his first two books of the BOB series.  He was so excited and when Josh got up he had to show Josh how he could read.  We have another series we used to teach Erik to read when he was in Kindergarten.  We will probably start that one with Tommy after we complete the BOB series.  It is incredible how easily Tommy picked up sounding out words with the BOB books.  Granted these books don't have alot of different words, but they each build on the next and really are great!

  • EVENING UPDATE......

Time to call it a night.....we seem to all be pretty tired around here, except Tommy of course.  Should be interesting getting him to bed tonight.

After Tommy got up from his nap, we made playdough right away.  He couldn't wait.   Then we took out the BOB books we bought and Tommy read his first book  WOW!!  The teacher who wrote these books knew what she was doing!  Tommy was so excited that he read a book.   What a feeling of accomplishment.   We tried the second book tonight, but that one is a bit harder so we will work on that one for a couple more days.  But my 4 year old read a book....I am soo impressed!

Hubby made up supper and we watched the movie Most Extreme Primate that we checked out for Tommy at the library.   He loved the movie!!   During the movie I continued to rip some more books on tape for my MP3 Player.   I did The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin and Cane River by Lalita Tademy.   I sill have a lot more to do.  I should be set for a while on books to listen to.

After the movie I took a nice hot bath and relaxed.   When I was done I bagged up my black beans and put them in the freezer and did the dishes.   Tommy, Hubby and I played Go fish and are now getting ready to call it a night.

Tomorrow....church in the morning of course.   Then I really have nothing planned, but do need to get a big crockpot of Sloppy Joes cooking for future meals for hubby and the kids when I work late.   I also need to iron my clothes for the week.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.......

  • AFTERNOON UPDATE.....

The house is so quiet.....hubby is asleep on the couch, Josh is at work and Tommy is still napping.   I should wake Tommy up soon or he will be up all night.  But it is so quiet and relaxing..........

I took about a 45 minute nap with Tommy and then got up and started on some projects.

    • Hubby put my black beans in the crockpot so they are cooking.
    • I cut up and sauteed 16 onions.   I will bag and freeze them once they cool down a bit.
    • I picked up some more books on tape from the library so I am ripping those to my MP3 players.   I am doing Puppet by Jdy Feilding right now.   I have a bunch to do.
    • I have done two loads of laundry.

Once Tommy gets up we will be making Cherry Playdough for Valentines Day!

    CHERRY PLAYDOUGH

    2-1/2 Cups Flour
    1 Cup Salt
    1 Tbs Cream of Tartar
    2 Packs unsweetened Cherry Kool-aid

    2 Tbs Oil
    2 Cups Water

Mix dry ingredients.  Add oil and boil water.  Stir quickly and mix well.  When cool, mix with hands and store in airtight container.

We went to the library this morning and got a movie to watch tonight with Tommy and a ton of other stuff.  What is so great about living here is that we are so well known at the library I don't even have to say my name to pick up my reserves...LOL!  Yep...we are one reading family!

Speaking of reading....Tommy wants to learn to read.   I didn't know he knew the letter sounds.  I was doing flashcards with him for the lower case leters and he said, "momma did you know H says....Ha."   Hmmm....so we went to Barnes and Noble and bought him the first set of BOB books to start on some simple reading.   He is excited to start learning to read.  He is too funny!    I thought he was too young to start with this, but I guess since he is so into it and already knows some letter sounds we might as well get started.  We are still working on some letter sounds but he wants to read so we will do both at the same time.   Any suggests, resources or advice from you homeschooling families are greatly appreciated.

  • I have been soo busy lately.   I haven't had any time to post.   I am fine...just tired.  As I decrease my medication I struggle with my energy level until I get used to the new level.  Thursday was a blur and I don't even remember what we did.  I know I did see the chiropractor which felt good.  I am only going to see him twice a month.  Friday I spent the day at my Unit Retreat.   We went to the MN Arboretum.  We did accomplish a few projects so it was worth it I guess.

Friday evening was so enjoyable.  Hubby went to Buffalo Wild Wing and got some wings to bring home.  I relaxed on the couch and cross-stitched for a bit.   I was really tired and was in bed  and asleep by 10:00.  Josh called to say he was done at work around 11:00 and was going to a Talent Show at church.  I was sound asleep when he called.   He said he would be home around 12:30.   So I went back to sleep.  It is so wonderful to have a child you can trust and go to sleep and *know he will be home when he said he would.   I woke up at 12:45 and looked out side to see if his car was there. ....I couldn't see since you can't see all of the driveway from the window.  So I called down stairs, "Josh??".   I didn't hear him answer so I called his cell phone wondering where he was....ROFL!!   He answered...Yes, Mom??   He was downstairs in bed...I didn't hear him answer.   I *was half asleep at the time.....he thought it was pretty funny since he could hear me dialing his number and *knew his cell would be ringing soon.

    SATURDAY......

We are getting ready to head to the library and the grocery store.  Tommy and I are getting stuff to make Play-Doh today.   He was asking about doing a project!   I don't have as much time anymore during the week to do projects with him so when Erik is at his Mom's I make sure we do a number of projects with Tommy.  He loves it!!

I have to do a few cooking things as well.   I am going to throw some black beans in the crockpot to cook up and freeze for future meals.    I also have two bags on onions to cook up and saute and freeze for future meals.   I will also work on some laundry, but that is it for the weekend.    I am just going to enjoy some time with hubby and Tommy.   Josh will be working again this evening.  He is finishing up his chores right now since he was working on chore night.   I have to do mine as well....

We are off....have a great weekend with your family!

  • Ok...my Birthday is over so on to Valentines day!!   I changed the look of my blog in honor of Valentine's Day.....might not be able to stand the pink for too long!!

  • Afternoon Update......

My morning list is all done and I have most of the groceries are put away.   I am going to get busy here and clean up the house.  Since I am not home on Monday or Tuesday night the house get really messy.   It is so overwhelming.  I plan on spending 15 minutes a room and get things in order before the kids are home from school or hubby hme.   Then I want to relax for a bit and read.

Tonight we have church and then I will spend the evening doing some activities with Tommy.   I found two leap frog cartridges at Once Upon a Child so we might work with those tonight.

    I am off and running....

  • Good Morning.......

I was wide awake last night when I got home.  So I stayed up a bit.  Tommy fell asleep though on me.   The phone rang late and I knew it had to be Deb telling me she had the baby!!  YEP!!! They had a little girl, Tessa.   It ended up being a c-section birth since the baby was in distress but all is well.   I am jsut glad both of them are fine now!

I got to sleep in this morning since Erik had detention before school, hubby could take him to school.  I slept in until 8:00, I haven't done that in months!  It felt great!   Tommy is actually still sleeping.  I am going to quickly get ready and made my shopping list and I am out of here for a morning of walking and errands!
