  • Last Day Of Vacation......

Last day to get things ready before school starts.    Erik returns home today as well.   Looks like another cold rainy day so I doubt we will make it to the fair today.   I guess we will have to try for next year.   That is a major bummer.

YESTERDAY - we stopped at the hospital and grandma was getting therapy.  They had her up and bearing weight on her leg, but she really couldn't do that yet.  So back to bed for Grandma.   She was in a fair amount of pain.   Once they gave her some meds and she fell asleep we headed out to run some errands.  Hubby wanted to go to the Half Price Books in St Paul so we headed there.  It rained and rained.......I only spent 7.00 at the store, pretty good.   The rest of the evening consisted of supper and reading.  Daddy read to Tommy after his bath.   They read a few more chapters of Mummies in the Morning of the Magic Treehouse series.   Then Daddy got out the pictures of when he was in the army and was in Egypt.   Tommy thought that was the coolest!

TODAY - Laundry, cleaning up Tommy's room and getting things ready for school tomorrow.   We will stop at the hospital this morning and at the mall to return a pillow.    Hopefully it is a quiet day.

I am and only one up in the entire house so I think I will enjoy the quiet and read for a bit.  read   Have a great day!!!

  • Off to stop off at the hopsital and then hubby wants to stop by a different Half Price Books today......like I am going to say no!! lOL!!   Love buying books.   I got my list already of ones I would like to get!

  • SUNDAY.....

Morning All....thanks for all your prayer for my MIL.   We made it to the hospital yesterday around 12:00.   I talked with my MIL and found out what had happened.  She was home alone and slipped when taking the garbage to the kitchen in their apartment.  She fell very hard and bent her leg backwards.   This happened at about 7:00 in the evening and my FIL didn't get home until 10:00 and found her.  She was unable to move so couldn't call for help.   She was so scared.   Poor thing.

She broke her Femur and had to have a plate put in to repair it.   Initial we thought she would have her surgery in the morning.  THey were backed up at the hospital and they said it would be between 3 and 5.   At 5 I asked again and they said she wouldn't go into surgery until after 7:30.  The poor thing had to lay there with a broken leg for over 24 hours.

We stopped in the morning to get the details and then left and went to the library and out to eat lunch.   Then back to the hospital from 2:45 until 5:00 thinking she would have surgery between those hours.   We left again at 5:00 and came home and let the dog out and went to half price books.  They had their Labor Day 20% off everything in the store sale.   We had Josh come home and watch Tommy and we were back at the hospital around 7:30.   Finally at about 8:30 she was wheeled down to surgery.   We were able to talk to the Surgeon and find out the details of the surgery.

The surgeon called us at home at about 11:15 and he was done with the surgery and my MIL was in recovery for the next hour.  She tolerated the surgery well, which was a blessing considering her age.  She is in her early 80's with poor health.

The plan today is to stop in and see her a couple of times through out the day.  She will be in the hospital for about 2 to 4 days and then will be transported to a transitional care center for another two weeks.  Depending on how she does she will either return home from there or go to a nursing home until she is able to walk, etc.  We haven't told her that yet, but hope to meet with the hospital social worker very soon.   We do have to work with the hospital to get my MIL a medical alert system so if she ever falls when she is home alone she can alert someone for assistance.  There are pull cords in her apartment, but it is in the bedroom and bathroom.

Lots going on this holiday weekend........

  • Change of Plans....

We were heading to the Fair today, but just got a phone call from my Father In Law.   My MIL fell during the night and broke her leg.   She is in the hospital and having surgery this morning to have the leg pinned.   We are off to help with details and talk to the Dr's hopefully.   This is very sad since she has been having such a terrible time walking to begin with.   Her abilities have been deteriorating so much in the last year.    I am very close with my in-laws and try to do alot to help them with their apartment.  I will need to make a point of getting over there and cleaning and cooking some more.   It is hard at times to juggle my kids/family and getting over there enough.   I need to do better....please prey for my MIL, Jane.

  • We slept in a bit since I am not going into the office today.    I have a number of errands to do this morning that are hard to take care of during the work week.    The big items on the list today are all for my van.....I need to buy tabs and new tires this morning.   We are gettting it all ready for winter!    It will come soon enough and I can't make it through another winter on these tires.

I should also get make my menu, and get groceries!    I am suppose to go to the friends house this evening and I am looking forward to an evening with the girls!
