  • Happy TUesday...

Tuesdays usually a hard day for me....but not today!   I work late on Monday night like always, but didn't really get affected from the lack of sleep today.  YEAH!!!   I had a busy day at work.  I had one homevisit and completed two more budgets.

After work I went to the Magnuson Parent Teacher Partnership (MPTP) Meeting.   I really like the smallness of the school and the opportunities available to volunteer.  So far I have helped at the LADC Bike A Thon.  This Sunday I will be assisting in serving brunch at the church.  The Kindergarten Classroom will get $100 that we will raise by doing that.  In November I signed up to help set up the Scholastic Book Fair.

The school is starting a new fundraiser that I am really excited about!  www.shopwithscrip.com  The program will be called Magnuson Tuition Buck$ Program.  You order gift cards to be used like cash to purchase your everyday items.  With every purchase you earn revenue for the school and your child's tuition.  Each vender gives a different % to the school.  But we buy our gas each month from SA, they will give 4% back in revenue.  Of the revenue collected 45% goes to the school general fund and 45% goes towards my child's tuition.  The last 10% is for program costs.  So I will try to purchase our budgeted amount each month with these cards to help with tuition.   Hopefully some family members will also jump on the bandwagon and maybe buy all their Christmas Gift Card this way and help pay their *Grandson's tuition with their purchases!!!    I plan on giving alot of gift certificates this year for Christmas so we can benefit from the tuition reduction!   Also those family members can save Box Tops and Kemps 5 cents lids for his school too!!!   Start clipping mom and Dad!!  It is for a good cause.

Tomorrow I have to stay home from work in the morning.  This afternoon I was eating some popcorn at work while I was working and I bit down on a unpopped kernel and broke a huge chunk of my molar off.   I have to see the dentist tomorrow.  Did I mention....I hate and am very fearful of the dentist????

I am off to complete my bible study for church tomorrow....have a great evening!

  • Our Weekend......

    SATURDAY...

We started off our day with Tommy's soccer game.  He seemed really tired throughout the game.   After that we went to the library and return some books and get some more of course.   I was happy to get the new Naomi Ragen book, Saturday Wife!   I will start that this weekend.

I wasn't feeling very well on Saturday.  My knee has hurting and I had an ear ache.  Fun...I am going to have surgery on my knee on December 19th to have it fixed!  I can't wait.  I really hate being in so much pain and unable to walk much at all.   As a family went to the Mall Of America to celebrate Erik's birthday.  He wanted to eat at the Rainforest Cafe.   The food was not that great...but very expensive.   ARGH!!   Then we went to Camp Snoopy and rode rides for a few hours.  We were at the mall for about 6 hours and man was my knee hurting after that.  We all came home and went to bed right away, except Josh of course who went out with friends.

    SUNDAY ......

We were all so tired so we slept in late this morning.  We all needed to catch up on some sleep.   Everyone slept in until after 10:00.   I think that was a good thing as we all seem to have been running on empty.   After hubby was up and I finished my meal planning for the next few weeks, I went to get groceries.   I have not bought any groceries for 3 weeks.   I am trying to stretch our shopping out to 3 weeks instead of two.  The less I am in the store the less money I tend to spend.  Before heading off to get groceries I put beef stew into the crockpot for supper.

Our menu plan for the next few weeks is in the previous post.  I went to Aldi to get a majority of my groceries.  I spent $164.70 at Aldi.  I then picked up the last couple of things at Festival since it is very near Aldi.  I spent $19.96 at Festival.  So I spent a total of $185.66 for groceries that will last for the next 2 to 3 weeks.   We don't follow the menu plan exactly.  If we have leftovers we eat that instead of what is next on the menu plans.  Then we have an extra meal for later.  That is why many times our two week menu plan might go for 2-1/2 to 3 weeks depending on what is going on for us.

I am off to get going on some laundry before supper.  My evening will consist of many loads of laundry.   I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  • Josh called me today at work and asked me to come home early.   He had received in the mail his new smart phone.  He needed me to go with him to Verizon's to activate the phone.  So took him to the mall and did that.  One of Erik's in home therapists was home with him.   Then we had a PCA come over to interview.  He seemed nice and will begin working with Erik after school starting next week.  As of next week we will have three different people working in our home with him each week.  We are working on getting a regular schedule set up....there certainly are alot of people in and out..........oh well.....

I should head to bed here and read for a bit before I fall asleep.   Hope everyone is having a great evening!!!

  • Money Found.....

I am so happy to have found some extra money....well sort of.    My hubby emailed me his open enrollment info from his employer.   My employer is in the middle of union contract negotiations and my insurance carrier and the cost will change.   So it looks like my hubby's health and dental will save us money and we will not have to change any of our medical doctors.   Josh, Tommy and I will need to change dentists, but that is ok.   It was a significant savings for us!!    So when I get my raise in January, I will actually get a raise.  It was only going to be enough to cover a portion of the increase of the health insurance premium.    As always it is good to sit down and go over the details.  It is time consuming, but things change and you always want what is best for you and your family!

Any extra money we have has been going to paying down our bills, ie, credit cars, house loan and car loans.  It is still our hope to be debt free within a few years.  Once our house is paid off we want to do some major remodel, but that is a number of years away, but we keep plugging away.

Today I am going to mail off money and a signed contract to have our attic insulated.  We are really hoping this will decrease our heating bills this winter.   Eventually we need to get new windows put into the house as well.  Everythin in our home is still original and in need of repair.

I suppose I should shower and get ready for work.........
