  • Happy Monday.....

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  The weather was not the greatest on Saturday, but Sunday turned out to be really nice.  Tommy and I both seem to be suffering from allergies so are feeling a bit under the weather all weekend.   We both got extra sleep on Sunday morning and that seems to have helped.

Josh is thinking about moving into a townhome with some friends.  I have very mixed feelings about that.  We will see how it goes.  I think Josh is ready, but not his friend.  Plus I would rather have Josh at home as I would miss him so much.   But he wouldn't be too far away.

We went to Patio Town to look at some pavers for the summer project hubby and Josh want to complete.   I am not exactly sure what we will decide.  Hubby and Josh went to Menards to get wood and finish up the steps on the deck from last year.   It was very nice on Sunday and they worked until dark.

I spent Sunday relaxing and washing laundry.  I hope to be all caught up before going to Duluth on Friday.  We will see.   I did get all of hubby's done so he could pack for his trip.

Well I best get running as I need to pick up Tommy today.

  • Online Book Group

I have 8 to 9 people ready to start the online book group.  I am excited and spent alot of the weekend setting it up and getting the message board up and running.   If you informed me that you were interested, I am going to leave an email to you about the details.   I am excited to see what everyone wants to read!!!

Check out my Book Group Site if you would like more information.

  • The weekend is here and I am happy for it.   I stayed home this morning as I am still coughing alot and needing to neb regularly.   Of course when I get to work for my afternoon meeting I find out it has been cancelled.  ARGH!

I took the time to run a few errands.   They have a good sale on pop at Target so I bought some as we are having a few get togethers in May at our house.  I also decided to stop at Goodwill to see if I could find a comforter for my bed.  What luck, I found a brand new King size one that matches my curtains.  Gotta love that!

Yep, that is the spoiled baby puppies bed in the middle of our bed.  LOL!!

Josh and Erik are outside working on cutting down the pear tree.  It sure opens up the back yard, but I am sure I will miss the shade of the trees.  I have the house pretty clean so my weekend should include catching up on laundry.   I seem to say that ever single weekend and never get it done.   ARGH!!

I think I am off to neb and read for a bit.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • Book Reviews....

I thought I would take a moment and answer GrannyFox's question.  She wanted to know if I also review the books that I read.  I used to do that more, now I have been only listing what I read and rating them.  I hope to get back to doing reviews more someday.

You can check out my Reading Page to see how I have been rating and tracking my reading.

Another question I would like to pose to my readers....Would anyone be interested in a online book discussion group?  I would like it to be small in nautre to begin with.  There has been many times when I have thought of some of you and thought, "I wish they lived near me so I chould invite them to my book group!"   Let me know if anyone is interested and we can toss around some ideas about how to do manage the online group, etc.  I prefer to read fiction and some non-fiction.

  • Wide Awake....

One side effect of taking steroids........unable to sleep.  I have gotten the dishes done and picked up a little.  Since I still wasn't tired, I updated my reading and movie page.

    New Book Finished -

Black Girl, White Girl - Joyce Carol Oates - (3/5)

    Movies Watched -

    Juno (2007)
    The Brave One (2007)
    Memory Keeper's Daughter (2008)

You can check out my ratings on my Movie Galley Page.

Well I better head to bed and try to sleep.  I am going to try and go to work tomorrow.  I am feeling better today.  I was seen at the St Paul Lung Clinic and she added two more meds, but is having my taper off the steroids.  So far so good.

    Have a great Night!

  • I found this video on my camera so I had to share.  Josh must of taken this, at least it looks like his feet!!  LOL!

  • My Night.....

Well tonight did not go as planned.   Such is life, it all worked ok I guess.   Erik was picked up my his mother for Alpha class at church.  I have been struggling with my breathing all day and called the Dr and the pulmonoligt to get additional directions for my care.   I was able to get an emergency appointment with someone at the St Paul Lung Clinic, but not my Dr. for tomorrow afternoon.

Well I wasn't able to wait that long after a prolonged period of coughing and unable to get it under controlled.  I had to go to the ER.  The worse experience I have ever had at the ER.  The nurse who worked with me was rude and actually made me cry.   I am a nice patient...I say please and thank you for everything and try to help as I can.

Well it is 12:26 and we are home........I am going to send an email to my work and head to bed.  Have a great night.

  • Later...

I am off to take a bit of a nap.  I hope to finish my last disc of the book I am listening to, since I jsut moved it to my Zune.   I also rented the movie, Juno at Mcdonalds so I will watch that as well.  That will be how I will be trying to relax the rest of the afternoon.

So look for  new movie and book reveiw later!!   You would not believe how windy it is here in MN today. YIKES!!   At least it is a warm wind!

  • Child Abuse Prevention Month

    MNCAN(1)

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month – Our children are our greatest hope for the future.  Make a commitment today to the safety and security of our children, families and communities.

As you might be able to tell this is a subject very close to my heart.  I want to educate everyone to prevent child abuse and protect all the children, including mine.  Make good choices not popular choices to protect your children.  Think of their safety first.

    **************************************************

I attended the Child Abuse Symposium to hear Patty Wetterling present.  Many of you have probably heard of her.  She was a SAHM in MN whose son, Jacob was abducted and has never been found.   She does great advocacy and now works for the State of MN in unit to prevent sexual violence.  Also a survivor of molestation by a teacher presented at the Symposium.  A very brave man who I know will make a difference in other's lives by sharing his story.  The case was prosecuted in the county where I a work.  It was heart breaking to see this man thank the County Attorney for his help in prosecuting his abuser.

I wanted to share with everyone some of the videos from the Symposium, but honestly they are too hard to watch.   So I will just share a music video by Martina McBride that conveys the need to prevent child abuse in a less graphic nature.  Hug your children and tell them you love them.  Remember that ever child is a gift from God, given to you.
