  • Tommy Helps Advance Science

Don't freak out,  he isn't being hurt.  He has a cap on that is measuring his brain waves.  It is only wires with sponges that touch his scalp.   He was great during the study.  He never cried once or fussed due to the cap.   His attention span was really good.

The study is being done by Dr. Nelson of the Early Childhood Dept at the University of MN.   They are looking at recognition and memory in 6 months old babies.  Tommy was shown four pictures repeatedly, one of me, one of Paul and two strangers.  They measured his brain waves response to the pictures.  He saw them 100 times.  The actually study portion of looking at pictures took about 15 minutes.

Tommy earned $5.00 and a new toy for his time.  It was pretty interesting the study will be completed in about 2 years.

  • I am tired of cold weather.   My feet have been cold for months.  I am really, really ready for warm weather to blow into Minnesota!!!!! That is it for my blog today, otherwise I will get too whiny...LOL!

  • Paul and I debated alot about going to Families First tonight.  Tommy had been screaming all afternoon, even when you hold him.  We decided we would go since it was the last class and the Pastor was coming in to play the guitar and sing and Tommy love music.

Tommy was wonderful at church.  He really loved the music.  He was bouncing and laughing up a storm.   He even enjoyed the ice cream social and I did give him one little taste.  I know....but he liked it!

We were so happy we went, he really seemed to be so much better and he had a great time.  When we got home, he started crying again.  ARGH!!!  Can we please stay at the church all night!

He is having a bottle with Daddy right now, so hopefully he will take his evening nap.  Next week the people from the class are taking their kids to the Hugo Animal Farm, so I am not sure if we will take Tommy or not.  It really depends on the weather and you never ever know about that in Minnesota!

We did sign up to be in the Families First program next year.  It really has been an enjoyable class with great families.  We have met a lot of others from the congretation, which has been so great.

  • CRABBY/SHOTS WEDNESDAY!!!

Tommy had his Dr appointment this morning.  He has been crabby enough anyways, since his gums are swollen where the top two teeth are coming in.   After those break the surface, no more will ne be biting on our fingers.  ARGH!!

The Dr appointment went fine.   Tommy weighs 19# 9oz. and is 27-1/4 inches tall.  He is developing fine the Dr said.  He is strong.  I was concerned that Tommy might not crawl since he hates to be on the floor and only wants to stand up.  The Dr said don't worry about it as Tommy might just walk before he crawls.  The Dr was fine with his diet, and called him an exoctic baby since he is eating some odd things, like mangoes and avacadoes.  I had the Dr look at the Super Boby Food book and tell me for the next few months if the books plan of introducing foods was ok or not.  The only thing he didn't agree with was introducing cottage cheese as early as they recommended, he said to wait till 9 mos.  So I had him just make notations in the book about what should be different.  Otherwise he said the Super Baby food diet was right on track.  He said the variety is good, but don't expect him to eat that stuff when he is older...LOL!!

Let's see what else have I done today, Held Tommy, Held Tommy and got groceries when Paul got home to hold Tommy.
