Month: August 2004

  • No motivation tonight................spaghetti for supper...something easy!   Hope to be in bed early if Tommy cooperates with that.   My teeth hurt from my cleaning too.....I am a bit whiny!

  • job applications....Job applications......the boy is busy!

  • We are home from our dentist appointments.   I always schedule my appointment at the same time as Joshua's as  then I know I will go.  I hate the dentist!!   Good news...for the third time in a row I have no decay or cavities!  YEAH!!  Josh for the first time, has on cavitiy and it is on his wisdom tooth.   He has two of his wisdom teeth in and two not yet out.   They gave us a referral to an oral surgeon to have a consultation.   They feel Josh should have his wisdom teeth removed.   Josh is not happy at that news.   I didn't have my taken out until I was in my early 20's and I was so glad to get them out.  I had alot of trouble with them and infections.   So I suppose it is a good thing to get this taken care of when Josh is younger.   Poor kid!

I think I will take a little nap.  Josh is out turning in some more job applications.  I made a deal with him.  I will continue his car insurance which is 2,000 a year!!!!!  YIKES!!   Until October, if he doesnt' have a job by Oct. 1st I am discontinuing his insurance.   I will start up the insurance again once he has a job and can assist by paying $100.00 a month towards his insurance.  All of a sudden he is looking a bit harder for a job!  I hope he finds something soon.

    Later~!

  • Yeah...1/2 through the week!   I am so glad.  I am still making it to work early.  I hope to continue this.   Yesterday I got home and was able to get alot done before picking up Tommy.   This allowed us to have our evening for other things.  I took the boys to Target to buy school supplies to fill our mission bags for church.   I try to do charity work throughout the year.  I want my children to know that it is right to help out others in life.  We tend to be such a self-centered society.   Erik found it interesting that kids in other countries couldn't go to school if they didn't have supplies.  I still don't think he really got it.   So we fill 4 bags with supplies that will be sent overseas to allow 4 children to go to school.  Though we can't afford to do huge projects we do our small part with the boys so they can have the experience.   Two years ago we assisted in having an Easter party at a battered woman's shelter.   An eye opening experience for us.  So will continue to look for ways to contribute to our community/world as a family.  The other thing that has been very difficult for Erik is tithing.   We give a percentage to our church evey week, but he doesn't see the point in giving to the church.   When we get a raise at work, we increase the amount to the church as well.  Some times he will take the money out of the envelope and keep it.   And he would NEVER give his own money.  I think if we would have started this earlier with him, he might be better.   I give Tommy an envelope and that goes ok.  But Tommy is with us full-time and exposed to our ways daily.   I just think it is very important to raise compasionate children.  Yes, I am a social worker so this is what I do, but wouldn't the world be nicer if we were all more tolerant and compassionate??  As many of you know my oldest son has gone on two mission trips and is very compassionate.   He gets that isn't all about usand that we are very fortunate.

Ok...that is something I am passionate about...sorry for blabbering on!   We just have such an importnat job as parents in forming who are children will be as adults.  Sometimes that job can be taken too lightly!

Let's see.. the rest of my evening was cutting my nephew's hair.  My clippers aren't working very well, but we made it through it!    I need to call my in-laws today as they want me to come clean their apartment.  I think I should just schedule a regular time every other month to clean over there.  My oldest son helps me clean over there each time.  Usually we clean the rugs, I hope she doesn't want that done yet, I can jsut vacuum real well!

  • AAAAh....my baby is growing up.  I just got the info for school registration for preschool for Tommy.  He will be in the Terrific Two's class.   The tuition was very reasonable I thought...only $60.00 a month for one day a week.   I called hubby to let him know about the open house.   He is going to take some time off of work to go to the open house with us.   We are very dedicated to providing decent early childhood education for Tommy.  We see what happened with Erik and don't want to repeat that.  So Tommy will be going to preschool for three years before kindergarten.  He will go one day a week this year, two next and finally three days the last year.

So we have a little list of school supplies to get for Tommy.   It is all so bittersweet......so September 1st is Tommy's open house.

  • Well I have made it sort of official.   I am now working earlier hours so I can get home earlier.  I am getting to work around 7:00 and leaving around 3:00.  It is nice to get home early, I think I will conitnue this through the school year as well.   I ask my Sup for permission , but she said that I could work any sched I want since I always have my work done.  It pays to be a good employee!!

Last night wasn't as productive as I wanted.  Oh well....I had to stop at the mall and get shoes for the wedding.  I actually found some.  I need to get a bra and slip yet.   When I got home, hubby told me Erik needed meds so I had to leave again.   Tommy was very clinging all night so I layed down with him alot to get him to sleep.

Of my zone work I was able to clean out my microwave and that was it.   I had to figure out my checkbook and that was it for the night.  Hubby was wonderful and had done some laundry for me on Monday.  I am more than caught up now, I am ahead of schedule!  YEAH!!

I was a bit tired this morning.  Tommy woke up at 5:00 scared from a nigthmare.  So I got up and layed down with him.  Today my last appointment is at 1:30 so I will go home after that.  I have to meet with the county attorney regarding a petition to court I am writing.  Once i get home I hope to get my chores done before picking up Tom from daycare.

One evening this week I need to take all my boys to buy school supplies for our church mission.  We will fill bags of supplies for children in other countries that need these supplies to attend school.  I suppose I should get some school clothes for Josh yet.   I already have enough stuff for Tommy.  He got a spiderman backpack for preschool and is very excited about going.  I bought some Levi's for Tommy at Mervyn's since they were going out of business.   He has enough clothes that hubby has picked up for him at various sales.   My hubby is so great about getting stuff for his boys.

Well time to get to work.........

  • Well my weekend flew by, so quickly that I actually missed going to a bridal shower on Sunday.  I was so upset when I realized I had missed it I just sat down and cried.   ARGH!!   I hate to let people down when I have made a committment to be somewhere.   I have alot of events and committments going on right now.  It is time to stop and regroup!   So today I will take a deep breathe and search for balance that I so desparately need right now!  I don't want to let anyone down again and forget a commitment I have made!  That is just not ok!   Of course my friend was wonderful about it, but I was so upset by it.   That just can't happen again!

  • My children make me laugh....

I was home early yesterday and I was sitting at the dining room table.  Erik comes in and says "Mom, Can I ask you a Question?"  Argh...this always means I need to brace myself, who knows what he will want to ask now!!   So he proceeds to ask if it is ok if tomorrow when his Mom comes to get him he doesn't have to go.  I explain to him that he has to go for a weekend visit.   He askes if I would call Dad and ask if that is right.   Which I do of course and yes, you have to go.   He has such a hard time with summer ending and having to leave our house.   I assure him I am sure he will have a nice time at his mom's.

I have to admit I am glad that it is our weekend with only Tommy.   I need a break from having all three kids on the weekend by myself.  Hubby works so it is me and the kids.   The weekend visitations give me a much needed break!

So a few minutes later my oldest son comes in and tells me he is going to call his Dad and see if he can stay home this weekend!!  ARGH..what is this contagious!  He wants to go to a festival downtown with his girlfriend.  He will have his Dad pick him up after church on Sunday.   Josh is old enough that we let him arrange when and if he is goig to his Dad's as long as he speaks to me first.

Ok...I love my children all dearly, but I was looking forward to a weekend with only Tommy.  Plus my brother and SIL are visiting.  I am glad my children like to be home with us, but I am sure their other parents would like to see them too!   They just had me laughing....

  • ANGWITH2 - Seems like we work in the same field.  I work for county social services as a developmental disabilities social worker.   Actually my switching my hours has my youngest at daycare less hours.   My hubby doesnt have to be at work until 10:00 so he takes our son to daycare and I can pick him up an hour to at least 1/2 hour early.  Be fore I didn't get out of work until 4:45 and with traffic it could be close to 6 before I picked him up.   Now I know I will be picking him up at 5:00 or earlier if I don't have chores to do.  Now my evenings are entirely for my family.  I don't have to spend so much time trying to get my chores done then.   I also am home for my oldest son who is 16.  If he wants friends over than I am home so that can happen.

I am jealous that your employer allowed casual everyday!!  We have strict dress code and it is expensive to maintain an acceptable work wardrobe.
