Month: February 2005

  • Ok...my friend has convinced me (i think) to going Weight Watchers at work with her.  Actually alot of my co-workers have joined.   I think I will try it for one session and see how it goes.

  • Where has this day gone.....work is getting in the way of my posting again!   ARGh.....I have been in meetings and a retirement party since the start of work this morning.  I have a report to finish and them it will be time to head home for the day!   WOW....I still need to retrun calls and I am out of the office tomorrow at a conference.  I am going to a conference called, "Transition Planning for Competent Adulthood: Learners with Autism Spectrum Disorders".   It is an all day conference so I won't get much office work done again.   Friday is my day to work from home since Tommy has preschool.   This week has flown by with me not accomplishing all I want.

Thanks to those of you that asked about my health.  I think I am improving.  I seem to be getting some energy back but I am still on predisone.   I seem to be coughing less, but still neb at least once a day.    We will see....but I am hopeful.   I have to check in with the Dr next week.   I am hoping that as the weather gets warmer around here my asthma will improve.

I stayed up way too late last night reading....THe "Kite Runner" is an excellant book.   I would describe it as haunting in some regards, but yet compelling.   I have about 6 pages left and then I will have to start something else tonight.  Hmm...what to read next????    I even read today during the break time at our meeting trying to finish it up.  Another person at work wants to read it!

  • Back to work today!  Nice to get away, but now time to get back to our routine of life.   Tommy didn't sleep through the night last night.  He was up around 3:00am and I couldn't fall back to sleep right away after I got him to sleep.   At the resrot I had Tommy sleeping in bed with us so that didn't help with me expecting him to sleep in his room last night.  I wasn't comfortable with him sleeping downstairs at the resort.  I didn't feel comfortable not having him by me so I knew where he was.   He could go out the front door as even when it was deadbolted it would open from the inside by the handle which he could do.   So if he was in bed with me....I knew where he was and when he got up.   I will have to post pictures from our trip later tonight!

ARGH....it also didn't help that I stayed up until 12:00 reading.   I am 3/4 done with the Kite Runner.   It is a good book.  I should have it done in the next day or so.  It will be the sixth book I have read this month counting my books on tape.  A very high number for me!  I usually only manage to get through two or three a month.  And believe it or not I haven't been letting the house fall apart reading!  LOL!!   Not sure what I will read after Kite Runner.  I think I will try and finish up some books from book group that we read last year that I didn't finish.    I got a great magazine from the library called "BookMarks", I found a few more books in there I want to read that I will reserve at the library.   I do get most of my books and books on tape from the library, expect books for my book group as I like to highlight passages and things in them to discuss.  I also bought the Philippa Gregory books as they are long and I can't read them in the 2 weeks time I can get them form the library.  There are alot of reserves for them and you can't renew them.  I buy most of my book on Ebay or half.com.  I did get a couple of Barnes and Noble gift certs from friends at work for my birthday and Christmas so bought a couple there this year.  I usually end up buy around 20 books a year, 12 of them are for my book group.   I still have to buy the book for December and we haven't chosen on for November yet.  We have a good line up for the year though!  I have book group this Thursday and I am really looking forward to it.  We will be discussing the first book in the Krisitn Larvansdatter series:  Bridal Wreath.

I work a full day today....then tonight is our weekly cleaning night.  So we will get that all done after work.   Supper tonight......Meatloaf, Baked Pots, and Broccoli.

Time to change my xanga/website decor again....tired of the Valentines theme!  I will have to find time to do that too!

    Have a great day!

  • Home again.....We had the resort room for the entire week, but had to come home due to the kids having school.  What a bummer.  We had a very nice and relaxing time though.  Plenty of swimming, movie watching and reading for mom!

I have our bags unpacked and have started the laundry.   I worked out our budget for the rest of the week.  The little unplanned vacation didn't hurt us hardly at all.  That is nice.   I suppose I should find some supper for us and get things ready for the week.    Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

I hope to go to bed early and read a bit.  I am about 1/2 through the Kite Runner and am liking it!    I just ordered 4 more books from half.com so I should be kept pretty busy.   I ordered the next two books by Phillipa Gregory the author of The Other Boleyn Girl.   I also ordered the next book in the Kristin Lavransdattar series.   I am just really on a reading binge this month.   I really go in spurts!

    Have a great evening!

  • Hello from wintery Brainerd MN.   THere is a nice new blanket of snow and the resort is very nice.  We have a two story room with three beds and three bathrooms.   Hubby and I have the upstairs with our own sitting area/tv, bathroom and bedroom.   We have been enjoying the fireplace and watched some movies last night.   We are right off the pool as well so enjoyed that last night for quite a while.

Today we slept in and then came over to the Pelican Center which has a computer room (and internet), a work out room, water slide and gym.  The boys are playing basketball right now and I am getting ready to take Tom into the pool for while.   After we are done here if Tommy is still awake, we are going ot the casino to have supper.   It is about 50 miles from here.

I finished my book this morning, Another Boleyn Girl.  It was very good.   I can't wait to buy the next one in the series.  I am going to start reading "Kite Runner" tonight.   When the guys watch TV I go into our sitting area and read.   I am not much into TV.

Well time to hit the pool with Tommy for a while.

  • Finished another book on tape today.....London Bridges by James Patterson.  Tomorrow is library day so I will have to pick up my next ones before we leave town.

  • Last night Families First was pretty good.  It was shortened to only an hour due to Lent so we didnt' have time to play our game.  We had a new couple join us and took time to get to know them.   We talked about the The Five Love Languages.  We all find it pretty difficult to talk our spouses language and we all had different ones.

After Families first we came home as the church service was very full and there was no nursery workers and Tommy was not in the best of moods.  We went home and then I returned to church at 8:15 for the parent child mission trip meeting.   Josh is going on his third mission trip.   He has three fund raiser activities and our final payment is due in March.  All the trips have been wonderful exeperiences for him.

Today....didn't start off so well.  I really wasn't feel well this morning.  THe predisone is doing a number on my stomach.   SO I changed my chiropractor appointment to 9;00 as we weren't going to make it there by 8:00.  Took Tommy to daycare and they went to the Chiro.   I went home afterwards to neb as my breathing wasn't very good.   I feel asleep nebing!   LOL!!  That machine jsut lulls me to sleep.  So when I woke up I came into work.  Good thing I have a very flexible job.   I guess i just needed to catch up on some sleep.   I have been staying up a bit too long, as I have been reading my book too late.   I will ahve to finish this book so that I can get some sleep!

Tonight I will do some laundry and get stuff packed for our trip this weekend.  I also need to go through Erik's closet before he is here on Friday.  So that leaves tonight to do it!   Well time to get to work!  Later!

  • Oh...I forgot to share my great deal!   I am a shampoo snob...meaning I hate to use store brand shampoo and only use salon shampoo.  As frugal as I am this is one thing I will not skimp on!   But I buy my shampoo NEXXUS by the gallon off of Ebay.  I have been out of shampoo for a few weeks and this morning I just bought a gallon for 35.00 including shipping.   This will last me for at least 2 years.  The conditioner lasts me for about 4 years for a gallon.  Thought I would share, as it is a great way to get the good shampoo at a good price!

  • Morning!   IT is Wednesday....1/2 through the week.  I love Wednesdays!    We have our Families First Class at church tonight and I don't have to cook.  We are going to have a V-day celebration and have treats and play Gender Gap.  It should be fun.   I am hoping three of the 4 couples will be there.   We are a small group so when a couple is missing it really effects the group.   But a fabulous group of folks!   We are reading the Five Love Languages....great book.  Hubby and I have been reading it together and need to do some more of the discussion questions.

I stayed up way too late last night.  I exercised at about 8:30.  I can only be tone and strengthening stuff right now due to my asthma.  I can't get out of breathe too much.  But hopefully this will help to at least maintain my weight.  I haven't gained anymore.    I find it so discouraging, I have friends who have large amounts of weight to lose and they lose quickly.  I have less than 20 pounds to lose and it is painstaking to get every single pound off.   I can go a number of weeks never losing a pound.   I know once my asthma is under control and I can exercise like i was before, it will come off.   The weight sort of jsut crept up on me this year.  I had the car accident in March and was layed up for quite a few months and gained some then.  Then in October I got sick and went on predisone, which I always gain weight on.  But I have never been on it for this long so have never gain this much weight on it.   Ok..I am done whining about my weight.  Once my asthma is under control I think I might try and stay after work a few nights a week and work out in the gym here.  We have an employee's gym in the basement of our building.  It is very nice.

After I exercised last night I read my book until after 11:00.  OOPS.....it is really good!   I even read another chapter this morning while nebbing before going to work.   Since we are going away for the weekend, I have a feeling I will finish this book.  That reminds me I need to go on the library web site and get another book on CD for when I am driving.  I am almost done with London Bridges by James Patterson.

Time to get back to work......hope you all have a great day!
