Month: August 2005

  • We just got home after our adventures for the day.   I took Tommy to the Dr this morning.  He has no fluid behind his ear drum now, so no need for ear tubes.  YEAH!   His toes, the Dr thinks is a chemical reaction.   I am suppose Super Glue the cuts together and put a steroid cream on it.   I am going to have hubby help me with that tonight.

Then I dropped Erik and Tommy off at my SILS and came home and paid bills and messed with our budget so we could swing all the school registrations things like lunch money, parking and yearbooks, etc.   It was almost 300.00 for stuff for the two boys.   And I needed to make a payment on Josh's Senior Pict today.   I also made my menu and shopping lsit for the next week and 1/2 or so.

Then we were off to get Josh's pics taken.   It was so bittersweet for me.   I was nearly crying at the end of the photo shoot.  I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast.   I think the pics will turn out really good.   He looked so handsome!   I can't wait to see the proofs next week.   I will pick them up next week while my mother is here and then she can help pick out pics.   If I have my order in my 8/31, we get to keep the proofs for free, otherwise they cost $50.00.

After the outdoor photos, Josh helped me get groceries.   We went to Aldi and Rainbow.   It was fun to spend the day with my boy.    Erik really wanted to go with us today, but I wanted to do this alone with Josh.   I love spending time with him!   I am lucky he will still do stuff with me, our time alone is very limited.    I jsut love the kid!

I have put all the groceries away and will need to start supper soon.  I am tired!    Ithink I will try to sneak in a cat nap for 20 minutes until hubby gets home with the boys.    Hope everyone has a great day!

  • Morning......today is my day off...you know what that means... RUN RUN RUN.   We are up and almost ready to leave for the DR.    Tommy has to have a recheck on his ears again and I need the Dr to look at his toes.   The skin is peeling off of them and they crack even though I am putting lotion on them every night.   After I get back home I am dropping Tommy and Erik off at my SIL's and I will be taking Josh to get his Senior Pictures done.   I can't believe my baby is going to be a senior.    He looks so handsome in all the outfits he picked out.

Well I need to get Tom dressed so we came leave.   Have a great day!

  • Working late tonight....I am going to snarf down some supper and then I have to be at a homevisit at 6:30.   In between my afternoon appointments I stopped at a new place to get my haircut.  I thought I would give it a try since the salon I go to is so expensive.   I stopped at a Fantistic Sams.  I got a cut and eye brow wax for only 12.95.  They were having a grand opening sale.   I am going to go back and get highlights sometime next week while the sale is still going on.   The interesting part was one of the stylist was someone I knew!  Small world.......

I started a new book on tape today...very interesting...Leap of Faith by Queen Noor.   She was married to the King of Jordan.   HOpefully I will get some more of it listened to on my travels tonight.   Time to get back to work!  Have a great evening!

  • MOrning.......well this morning we were woken by a big bang in the back yard.  ARGH...another squirrel got fried on the electrical thing out back.   This happens about once a year even though Xcel Engery put a squirrel gaurd on it.   So I called Xcel and waited for them to come.  Of course we were out of electricity for over an hour, so it made it hard to get ready for work.

Now I am at work and I have to get busy and prepare for my 1:00 meeting.  Hope everyone has a great day!

I am looking forward to the weekend.  Both older boys are gone this weekend.   So it should be a nice quiet weekend for us.  I really need a quiet weekend.  We are going to pick up my mother on Sunday and she will be staying with us next week.   Later!!!

  • Doing the happy weigh in dance!!  FINALLY,  the scale has gone down for me at weight watchers.  I think this is the motivation I need since I was getting discouraged.    This week I lost 1.6 pounds.  YEAH!!  Obviously the liquor from the block party hasn't caught up with me...LOL!!

  • I am exhausted!   I am glad the block party is over, though I really do enjoy it alot!  It went really well and we got alot of compliments.

    BLOCK PARTY -

We had beautiful weather for the party.  We started setting up around noon and the party started at 3:00.   We had between 95 and 100 people in attendenace.   We had a few new families, so it was great to meet them.  The kids as always got alittle out of control, my middle one included.   Erik always gets over excited about the block party, but he was better than previous years.  The party lasted until 9:00 and then we cleaned up the rest of the stuff and had a bonfire.   The bonfire lasted until about 3:00am and boy was I tired!!  I came in at about 2:15 or so, but there were still people at the fire.

Josh and Charlie slept by the fire all night.   They were a sight in the morning.  Erik slept over at the neighbors.   Tommy was really tired and he was asleep by 9:30 or so.  My BIL, Steve spent the weekend with us and helped with the block party.   MY SIL, Bonnie helped with the party and stayed over as well.  So we all had a great time!

    SUNDAY

The day after....argh....water balloons every where, 1/2 drank pops all over the lawn.   After we finally were up and moving we picked up the yard and packed up the block party supplies for another year.  After everything was cleaned up, Tommy and I took a 3 hour nap.   Boy did I need that!

After our nap, I worked on dishes and laundry.   SUnday was definitely a day of recooperating!

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    WHat's new with my boys.........................

JOSH - he is so exctied to be going on his camping trip this weekend.   Mom of course is a little nervous, but luckily for me, all of Josh's friends going are very good kids.   One of the other mothers and I were just talking about how we can trust them, etc.   We jsut worrry about the girls!

I am taking Josh to get his Senior Pics done on Wednesday.   I need to leave him some money to get his hair cut tomorrow.   Josh is still working on trying to save money to buy a car, but he doesn't have his momma's spending habits.   I am very frugal, he is not!

ERIK - still doing pretty good.  He didn't listen the best at the block party, but then again neither did the other boys who were being a bit wild.  I am so happy that Erik is doing so well socially.   He has gone on a number of sleepovers or had others sleepover at our house.  He has taken friends to markers at church, etc.   Josh and Adam took him to the Middle School and gave him a tour of the school already.   He and Josh are getting along just fine as well.  He does struggle with sharing with Tommy.   Erik is used to being the baby at his mom's and that has been an adjustment.  But overall, we are very happy with how well he is adjusting.  My ex hubby gave him a bike to use so he is mobile again.

Erik's braces don't seem to be bothering him at all anymore.  He is doing very well about brushing his teeth.  Generally he is brushing 3 to 4 times a day.   I am afraid the novelty will wear off, but so far so good!

TOMMY - what can I say....he is as cute as always.  He was funny last night, he heard the word ridiculus on the TV and it is his new favorite word.   He will look at me and say "that's ridiculous!".  LOL!!   He is writing and spelling his first name.   Last night we got out a bike my SIL had given us and he learned to ride a two-wheel bike with training wheels.   He did great and boy do you have to walk fast to keep up with him.

He loved the block party and had alot of fun.  He was much easier to watch this year.  He could be unsupervised in the yard, playing with the other kids.  He didn't eat at all at the party.  He was too busy and excited about all the friends!

Next week he is going to preschool daycamp at church.   My mother is coming to stay with the boys next week since my daycare is on vacation.  Tommy is very excited about that!!  He talked to grandma and grandpa last night on the phone.   He is growing up so fast and he is so smart.

  • Today is the day.....BLOCK PARTY!!!   We are all starting to wake up at our house.  My BIL came over and is spending the weekend  to enjoy the block party with us.  This morning we are going to hit the library and then pick up pizza for lunch.

I have a couple of families that help with the block party.   They are great!  This morning one of them is going to pick up the moon walk in W St Paul.   The other family is going to the Farmers Market and getting corn and picking up tables and chairs.    So once we are home from the library we will unload and set up tables.  The rest of the day will be very busy.   We have 93 RSVP's as of last night.   So we should have over 100 people over.  Tommy is very excited.  Especially for the cake walk since I have cookies on my dining room table he is really wanting to eat!   The weather seems like it will cooperate and give us a nice day.   In the 10 years we have been having the block party we have not had any rain!   Looks like we will be blessed again today.

Well I better shower and get ready.   I will try to take some pics to share with you all....have a great day!

  • Last night hubby and I had a long conversation about how the school schedule is going to work.  For the summer he has been home two evenings a week with the kids and I work late.   He is finding that very hard, so I am going to cut down to working late only one evening a week.  I have to work one.   And once school starts I will be working 5 days a week again, unless there are Dr appointments that week.   Hubby wants me home more....there is just alot to juggle.

Today we are getting ready for the block party.   As of last night I have 88 people that have RSVP.    That is actually 11 more than last year at this time.   So far this morning I went to the bank and cashed all the checks for the block party and got money from my account for the kids allowance.    Then we went and picked up the barricades to block off the street tomorrow.   We also went to Walmart to get more poster board.

My Uncle Sam bean bag toss got rained on and so I had to touch it up this morning.  The kids forgot to close the garage door and it was sitting near the opening.

I think I am going to relax a bit and wait for my neighbor to get home.  She and I are going shopping for all the food and beverages for the block party this afternoon.  This is going to be one busy weekend!!!!!!!!!

    Have a great day!

  • Just getting ready to head to bed.  All of our household chores are done and the house is in order.  Tommy actually went to sleep early tonight.  He was asleep by 9:00  WOW!!!   We will see how his night goes.

Work went well today, I completed the project I wanted to get done.  I also finished all my filing!  That is a huge task since I only find time to do it every 3 months or so.   While filing I listened to my book on tape.  I finished my 1st book of August :

A Share In Death by Deborah Crombie - it was an average read - I finished it, but wouldn't give to a friend. - 3/5

I am off to read and relax....good night!

  • Count Down to the Block Party has begun.  We received three more RSVP's yesterday.  Tonight I will have to total how many people we have coming.  Tomorrow is shopping day!

Today is an easy day.  I am working only 8 hours and I plan on doing my filing for most of the day.  I will probably listen to my book on tape and file.   Easy enough.    I hate filing....but has to be done!   Have a great day!   I am off to try and wake up Tommy!
