Month: June 2004

  • Wednesday......Busy day again!!!  Aren't they all.   Tommy went to daycare.  Erik went to Wild Wednesdays at church and went bowling.  I think he had an ok time.   I had a meeting in the morning and was home by 11:00.   I spent the afternoon with my committee at the church cooking meals for expectant mom in our congretation.  It was a fun time.  They are such a great group of ladies!   I enjoy my time with them.

Then it was off to the chiropractor again.   ARGH...I was really sore due to all the standing and cooking at church this afternoon.  After supper we went to Sam's club.   We bought the kids three huge packs of fireworks!  WOW!!!  They are so spoiled!   They will be sharing with their cousins too. Of course we got all the regular stuff, milk, pull-ups and laundry detergents.

Time ofr me to head to bed.  Later!!!

  • Boy am I tired this morning.  I heard a noise at about 2:30 last night, got up.   I look out the window and a car is park out front our house and our neighbors.   They door is open and a guy is running to the car carrying stuff.   GRRRR....I call 911 but of course they are long gone by the time the police get here.   It was too dark so I couldn't make out any details of the car.   The night before our neighbors had their blazer broken into and a set of golf clubs stolen.  I can't believe they came back the following night!!   I could not get to sleep after that.  The police said there have been a number of thefts in the area so many they can't get up with the paperwork.  It doesn't look like they took anything from us.  We turn off the electricity to the garage and lock all our vehicle and keep nothing in them.    That has become our bedtime routine to make sure everything is locked and secured.   This has not been a problem in our neighborhood before...

  • We have set the date for our annual block party, August 21st.  My hubby, the kids and I delivered all the flyers tonight.  It went very quickly with all the help.   We will have to do a reminder flyer closer to the date.   But at least we have the first step done.   This is our 9th annual one.  They are alot of fun and we have well over 100 people in attendance.  I have to finish balancing the books from last year and make our shopping lists for this year!    Always a very busy time. ......

But first come my hubby's birthday party!!   I must plan one huge party at a time!  No wonder our summers go so quickly.   That is so many big events we are a part of!   I also help plan a monthly Mommy & Me event with my committee at church.   BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!!

Well off to do some laundry and my evening routine!  Later!!

  • Been a few days since I posted again!!   Sorry, but life gets so busy, that is how summers are.

Joshua - has been in Mexico all week.  He is returning today.  They will be presenting during the 11:00 service about their trip and experience.   So of course we are going to 11:00 service, not the one my hubby likes to go to.   I have missed Josh I can't wait to see him today!   I am sure Tommy will be happy to see him!

Erik - has has an ok two weeks.  He has stole twice and we now have a trust ladder he earns our trust back with.  That seems to be going well.   He is with his mother this weekend.  He got a letter from her that they would be going to Wisconsin, and he wasn't so thrilled about going.  I am not sure what is up with that.  He asked if he had to go??  If I was him I would be thrilled to be goin!!!  I never can really figure out what he is thinking.  His behavior and listening has been great all week.   His adjsutment to our house has gone well.

TOmmy - what can I say -  He is too cute for his own good.  He is sleeping in bed with us most nights.   But atleast he sleeps well then.  We rotated some different toys up stairs which he has enjoyed playing with all weekend.  One is a remote controled car which is really fun for him.  He talks ALOT!!   He invented this new game he likes to play at bedtime.  He says "what animals life on a farm" and you ahve to guess the animal....and it is only the animal he has in mind.  I never get it right.  Yesterday we went to Mommy & Me at church and he had fun playing with his "friends".  He also learned the word "stupid" not sure where he picked that up, I am not happy with it!

Paul - He is very busy with the church website he is making.  He is very talented and everyone is so thankful for the time he dedicates to the church.  Otherwise he has been working and website.

ME - I am trying to work as much as I can.  I am still on family medical leave and having a fair amount of pain and trouble with my back/neck.  The insurance company is having me go to their Dr for an evaulation in July.  I am a bit worried about that.  Wor k has been busy.  I have had a few families that come through intake requesting me.  My other families keep tell them if you get a social worker request me!    ARGH....pretty soon I will have to tell my supervisor I can't honor anymore requests.  I have too many cases.   I think the other social workers are jsut as good as me and are working full time!!   I took the last one simply because it wasn't that bad of a case and the next one could be worse.    I am busy plannig my hubby's 40th birthday party!!  I hope he enjoys it!!  I also have to start planning for the block party, which will be in August!  As always i am busy!!  I also have a house to run and kids to care for!!

Today we are going to church to see Josh!!  Then I will work on laundry and chat with Josh the afternoon.   I am going out to the moive "stepfard Wives" with my SIL's and out to eat after that!   It should be a good time!    Hubby will pick up Erik later tonight!

Tommy  wants me to dance....gotta go!!

  • VENT-

I need to vent since this SOOOO annoys me!   I have just ignored it for so long, but it is so rude and I would never treat anyone like that.  Do you know anyone that never asks for anything, only tells you.   ( not the current example, but your get the idea.)  Like I will be coming at 6:00.   Wouldn't common courtesy suggest that you would ask a person, Can I come over at 6:00 or would it be ok if I came over at 6:00., etc.

I would never treat a person like this!!

  • MISSION TRIP UPDATE

Thank you for all your prayers.  My son and the other teens have crossed the border and are in Juarez, Mexico as of Sunday afternoon.  THey are all feeling well and ask for prayers for continued safety, growing up and life changes.   They will begin working today, so hopefully tonight I will have an update on what they did today!!

  • Hello -  we all slept in this morning...AAAH did that ever feel good.   Tommy didn't wake up until 9:00, WOW!!   We got a bit of a late start, but went to the post office ( too long of a line),  the library (they had lost electricity) and finally to the church garage sale (in search of a woodie and Buzzlight year!)

Now we are back home.  Tommy and I watered his little garden.  He has some beans getting ready to break through.  I think he might have watered the lettuce seeds right out of the ground!!   We will see.  I can always replant those for him.  He has had a number of strawberries already.

Then it was time for naptime.   I can't get Tommy to settle down for a nap.  I might have to give up on it.  I don't know what I have done, but my upper back and neck are extremely painful this week.  It hurts to sit and even to walk.  So I now have supper in the crockpot, Smoked Sausage and Beans and I think I will lay down for a while and see if that helps with my back.  I might even ice for a while.  I haven't been icing much recently.

I have plenty to get done around the house though!!!   I think I will get to that after I rest my back a bit.

    SATUDAY TO DO:

    Laundry
    Dishes
    Sweep Kitchen
    Grocery List/Menu
    Paul's B-day Invites

Tomorrow my hubby has asked that we go to church and then go Geocaching if it is nice.  Then we will go out for supper probably.   A nice time doing the things hubby loves!

  • It is 12:41 am and I just got home from putting my son, Josh on the bus to Juarez, Mexico.   So I will try to post updates of how he is doing on his trip so grandma is comforted.   He is a big boy and will do fine.

Those of you that could, please keep him in your prayers for a safe trip and that God works his magic through my son.   Josh will be spending Saturday night in New Mexico and then Sunday he will go to El Paso, where they will meet up with Youth Works Staff and will cross the border into Mexico.   I hope Josh and his friends have many "yeah God" moments!   Keep him safe Lord.

I am quite amazed at what a wonderful young man Josh has become.   He makes his mama very proud.   I will be at a real loss without him this next 10 days.  He is such a help to me with the younger two boys.  But I know this trip is an amazing opportunity to strengthen his faith and show him many things.

  • Summer hsa begun at our house.  I never consider Summer as starting until my stepson Erik has moved in with us.  He moved in with us on Sunday evening.   Once he was here we had our family meeting and reviewed expectations, rules and schedules with him and Josh.

Monday Erik stayed home with hubby.    I came home to him and Josh havinga water fight with the gardne hoses with the neighbors.  It was so good to see Erik running, smiling and having a great time.  He has been so happy the last two days.  It is great to see.  I worked late on Monday so didn't get home until after 8:00.

Today, Josh and Erik hung out for the day.   Erik had a great day!!  That was all he could talk about.  He loves to hang out with Josh.  Josh is so good with Erik and does alot of stuff with him.    They were playing croquet when I got home.  They had also gone to holiday as well.  They wanted to BBQ outside for lunch.  I called to check on them and they had jsut gotten done mowing the lawn and both had done their Tuesday night chores.   WOW!!  And I didn't even ask!!  GO JOSH!!   So when I got home I had to do bedding and trash and make supper.  I got all my stuff done!  Hubby had a headache so he didn't do his.  We had a waterballoon fight in the front yard and now Josh and Erik are having a bonfire.  About time to call them in for the night.    Erik has been a great listener and doing surprisingly well.   So far the summer is off to a great start.  This has not always been the case in the past.    I was also able to allow Erik to go to the DQ with friends his evening and he did great!!  He got a small item like I told him and came back with change!!   I told him that was a great way to increase my trust of him!!   Granted I only gave him $2.00.  But he did it!!

Tommy is fighting going to bed tonight!!  He is still crying so I will probably have to put in bed with me.  He is saying "mommy I sleep with you!".  I have a dilemna with Tommy.   He has excezma very bad on his arms and legs and I think it is from the hypoallergenic sun screen we put on him when he goes outside.  ARGH!!   So I have to decide between him being burned or having a rash.  Both are bad.  Tommy is growing so fast.  He has a little container garden and was so surprised that "someone put" strawberries on his plant.  He isn't quite getting that they grew there.  LOL!!   But he loves to eat them and will share them with his brothers.   He is loving being the only kid at his aunties daycare.  He gets to go out to eat lunch with her and shopping.   he is getting so spoiled!!   He is doing well on potty training there too.   He is saying the funniest things. Last night I was laying in bed and I heard him count to 16 by himself.   He doesn't have the ABC's down but can get bits and pieces of them right.   He loves the Dr. SEuss ABC book.   Big A Little A what begins with A.

Tomorrow Erik will be going with Tommy there as well.  Well Tommy isn't settling down so I guess I need to put him in my bed and go to bed.  NIGHT!!  Sorry I am so busy so not sure how often I will be able to post!     Sorry no time to proof read, so bear with me!!

  • I just got done cutting up and bagging ALOT of rhubarb.    I was thinking about what should I do with it all.......and I came across this website, who knew some many things could be made with rhubarb!!
